Food Culture Research Club is a perfect club, fit for the Kawai since she cooks as a hobby. She also has a childhood and others that joins the show together. The character designs looks kinda young for university students but I think it's easy to accept their looks. Going to be a lot of food, culinary segments, etc. I'm not going to expect any sort of complex plot but they will use every chance to promote food as much as possible. |

P.A. Works, welcome back to the originals with another CGDCT showing of the slice-of-life aspect featuring cooking, created by Non Non Biyori mangaka Atto and produced by Aniplex. For undergrad college student Maco Kawai, her being influenced by the chicken mascot of Mokotarou to want to eat delicious food, it's a lifelong dream of hers. But her being the lone girl, as opposed to friends of Shinon Ogawa, Tsutsuji Higa and Kurea Furutachi, them having a meal together, and they're the first friends that she makes. But if there's one thing that Maco cannot take her eyes out of, it's food, which she is invited to Kurea's family restaurant to want to try some tonkatsu. Though it's the memories that Maco remembers of someone equivalent, she slowly gets her shy personality out of the way. But welp, having to be part of a club in university to do so, it's only Shinon being pumped for this lols. asmi's OP is rather lively, and decent to say the least. Tne second CGDCT of the weekend, and it's food-tastic. It would be nice to see Maco step out of her comfort zone as the series progresses. |

Cute girls eating yummy food. Japanese really love to make anime about food. It's such a common theme nowadays. Funny and delicious start. That ending was hilarious. Maco got fooled pretty badly. |

ngl, I love Kurea's restaurant's decorations, those train destination plates. I would like to visit this restaurant for this reason. Her restaurant was modeled after the actual restaurant, Takao Shokudo. Sadly, it will be closed on April 18th. π’ |

I made a mistake by watching this while I was hungry. Definitely don't do that. Anyways, I actually really enjoyed this episode. The artstyle is cute, OST is great and backgrounds, amazing. I really like how this anime is food related. The characters are in University, but based on their looks, they definitely don't look like they are. Really fun start and I'm excited for the next episode next week. :) 5/5 |

Ehhh not as good as other cute girl eating shows like Gourmet Girl Graffiti https://myanimelist.net/anime/61206/Oide_yo_Mahou_Shoujo_Mura_Fuhou_Senkyo but cute enough I guess for a CGDCT show. Funny how college Japanese girls look identical to high school and even middle school Japanese girls lol |

Poor Maco, this club is not going to be what she was hoping for haha. Nice silly mascot character at the beginning of the episode. The show looks decent so far. |

Yeah, she was really hyped until she found out her friend was using it as a front to goof off. Doesn't look like the others are too thrilled, either. LOL |

@UnlistedHyper I did that on Kowloon & they showed my favorite Chinese dish, Lemon Chicken. And it looked better than some I have actually had. LOL |

Love it already! I'm a sucker for good CGDCT and this anime revolves around food too, mmm~ The girls are so cute and I'm loving their vibe. π That sauced katsudon looks really delish! I wanna go back to the nearest Japanese restaurant in our town and I'll order a katsudon as well. I'll think of this anime when I'm eating katsudon. π This anime will be a keeper and it will surely be one of my guilty pleasures from this season. I'm looking forward to see more food from this series! π€€ |

P.A Works always delivers with their CGDCT anime. Mako, Shinon, Higa, and Kurea are so funny and cute. I loved their interaction and the ending with Higa saying "yay" was so cute and funny. Love the visuals and food stuff and I'm looking fun at what lies ahead as Mako develops as a character. Will be sticking with this for sure. Now, it's just to wait for Mono dub then I'm all good.β |

Why didn't a club like this exist when I was in University? I would totally have joined. Use club funds to buy food to cook or to eat out? Discover the next popular gourmet joint? Take pictures of food before eating? Where do I sign up! Pretty sure the other 3 girls take food more seriously than the bimbo whose idea it is to start that club. |

It was a pretty decent first episode, the anime itself doesn't look like it's going to be anything special but it looks like it's going to be pretty comfy which is fine by me |

To tell the truth, reading the synopsis, I rejected the show. But, as I have no show on Saturday night, I added it on my watching list. There was a small drama and the first episode was not bad. It's also a key point that I have the same tendency as the protagonist. |

Another PA works original with cute girls so you know we had to watch this lol. Such a stacked Saturday especially for fans of CGDCT with this, Mono and Slime 300-nen. This is by Non non biyori author so high expectations! Good start, basically Bocchi the rock with food instead of a rock band*** Mako’s social anxiety is going to be tough to overcome, but it helps when you’ve got somewhat of a familiar face to slowly ease you into a bigger friend group. Started off rough with she and Shinon’s reunion there, but they both sorted it out and our girl is already going out of her comfort zone by eating at restaurants solo for the first time! I’m proud of her. Wait, that fucking ending has me crying tho. You mean this was all a front for them to get a place to chill on campus and not an actual cooking club lmaoooo?!! I know Mako is gonna pass out next episode π |

EP 1 This is an original right Kinda curious although i guess aaand its already cooking time i mean we know its the premise of the entire anime i never did understand though hmm soo i cant believe i have to say this in a change the girl(s) are in daigaku this time its girl time guhehe what are the girls studying anyway hmm one moment later Wait the episode is over? So far we have 4 girls althogh uhh i think theres supposed to be a Shenanigans aside I mean its ok? How many things in the op are gonna happen? hmm Imagine Loong post ed scene this time i was thinking it would be a bit weird if they just left it like that Are they wearing the same clothes? clothes intensifies Ok so end of ep 1 plot twist Are the other eps gonna have as much cooking orr welp Next time it is As usual ep 1 syndrome applies A bit too early to tell how the girls are going to go although it seems promising(?) |

Hmm, it's not bad but it's not special either and the main's nervousness could be more frustrating than entertaining. In a less stacked season I'd definitely watch, but here I'm not sure. I do like that the characters are university age for once, not that you can tell. |

I will always be a sucker for food animes. And the main character seems pretty normal enough as to not talk to herself most of the time, everything she talks about alone is all internal monologue. |

P.A Works doing a CGDCT anime is something that I will always watch and upon first impressions, Food For The Soul does look rather promising. Mako is a kind, but shy girl, but I did enjoy seeing her taking those steps outside of her comfort zone and try out new things. Partially thanks to her meeting Shinon, who they used to hang out back in elementary school, as well as Kurea for being kind to let Mako have the katsudon meal that she was saving for herself. Seeing how that dish was being prepped up and cooked made me hungry. XD The post-credit scene was pretty hilarious. Shinon finally got the club that she wanted, only to drop the actual truth to Mako that the club's name, the Food Culture Research Club, was nothing but a front, as Shinon simply wanted a place to be lazy. I'm sure the club will live up to its name over the course of this series. As per usual from P.A Works, the production values do look really good. Character art is nice, as is the background art. The music is catchy and I like the whole comfy vibe that the OP showed. Along with Mono, these two series will be extremely comfy and wholesome during the weekends and I couldn't ask for anything better! =D |

I believe this may actually be the first fully food based anime I've ever watched. So I really have nothing to compare this to but for a first episode I enjoyed it quite a bit. I mean im no food genius but dam some of the food this episode look good. Generally thought this was a good start to the show, curious to see where it goes from here |

Foodie CGDCT in a University Anime!? Watching this together with mono and Zatsu Tabi (almost forgot Slime-300), every week will be a healing week, this season is really good for the soul. Maco just got scammed! Who would have thought that a Food Culture Research Club would be about lazing around huh. It's kinda funny how Maco is the bocchi of the show while having Bocchi's seiyuu (Aoyama Yoshino) herself as the extroverted friend. |

Food always tastes the best when you made it yourself. Sometimes its hard not to feel pressure when you're meek. Lol uni students trying to bribe people. The chances of encountering a childhood friend in uni sure is remote. Glad that Mako was able to make it inside the restaurent in the end. Looks like Shion was pretty hyper when she was in elem. Pretty cute ending theme. Glad that Mako decided to join the club. |

i was soooo glad that i watched this while eating lolol. this anime really giving me vibes of Bocchi the Rock, and ofc Yoppi is here , but now its opposite she voicing the Ayaya Ayaya chara this time. THIS IS MY TOP 3 ANIME OF THE SEASON SO FAR, 1. Cinderella Gray, 2. To Be Hero X, 3. Food for the Soul. i didn't expect this to be this fucking funny lmao, i love all the character, but my favorite is Tsutsuji. and ofc this anime is soo good in terms of character and sol because this is written by Atto (Non Non Biyori). P.A Works always good the make CGDCT anime, hope my feeling for this anime continues. also that ending tho LMAOOOO SHINON SCAMMED MY MAKO-CHAN NOOOO (also cute Tsutsuji pose) ![]() |

Really cute heartwarming animes are all I want or need in life and here is another great looking one to add to the already impressive stack this fine spring 25. I am pretty ecstatic about it tbh. Hopefully this will be the next big trend following the long overdue decline of really barely watchable isekai adaptions. Well you can dream. |
