Meh. She's okay, but relatively forgettable. If you compare her to somebody like Rena Ryuguu (which people inevitably will), she doesn't hold a candle.

(Sorry if i'm being really bitter here. I'm not always this negative. I just really don't like this show.)

Don't worry, I think a lot of people share your opinion, me included. This show is worse than Umineko, which I still struggle to finish.

Please be on the screen more, please.

Oh, the father too. He's an ugly, fun man I prefer spending the time with over the supposed plot. Heck that dude who was eaten by his dogs was also pretty cool.

I can't believe this is a Ryukishi anime.

This series is garbage and I don't see it going anywhere. All the gayness pisses me off and I find nothing redeeming in this series yet. I will remain vigilant because it is a Ryukishi work and obviously, can twist and turn into a masterpiece.

Seriously, thanks a lot, it's all more clear now.

Always glad to be of service.
Instead of loving me, you could buy me a drink....damn 'internet bars' should be the next thing they should invent!! XD

I hope so, it would be the best to know from anime than assuming ourself.

Yeah, well, they need to clear up the terminology within the anime...some things won't make sense otherwise. I don't know if they will include the full background, but at least Kamibito and 3 other terms need to be explained to understand what is going on.
I'm really interested in seeing how anime-viewers will react to those things...it's so totally different from how the VN presented them, so I just can't foresee anything regarding presentation and effect...but going by the screens next episode could be cool.

Ok, I have a theory about the Hassaku ads.

I think that every time a person is about the break "the rules" the Hassaku commercial is played on tv to inform the extermination squad to get ready. Or to inform the town that they are about to go into action so they need to stay out of the streets. I think this because the commercial is always played right before someone is killed. Also the commercial shows a wolf dancing around which could symbolize the victim going out of control.

I said it before but I am afraid that it's being far too obvious. It's best to keep the clues in the background and not to just zoom in the camera on them to point out to the viewers "This is important"
Plus there should be more red herrings. Higurashi had tons of fake clues to cover the real one.

seizonsha thank you for all the spoilers....I kept repeating in my head how stupid of me to have been so full of rage towards Nemuru... I was so stupid, stupid, stupid of not considering anything but I don't know how this anime series might have been towards......the whole disease idea. Just a few non spoiler things of interest...Kamibito=wolves and they consider humans as Ochibito. Based on what you said seizonsha it can be possible that Isuzu can live with Hiroshi on the condition she does not become like Issei. Kaname looks to be normal so far but is she really a Kamibito or human? Damn it now I feel bad for Nemuru.....I feel so bad that I don't have anything against her and take back all bad things said to her. seizonsha I don't want those endings you suggested I want something happy or it is all the way something in the style of the endings of (Kaitou-hen) (Answer Book) or (Fukushûhonryû-hen) (Torrent of Revenge Book) seizonsha I cannot thank you enough for all the information.....Now I know all *maniacal laugh* Also so sad is the fate of wolf people and more sad/depressing is what Hiroshi really is...not his fault though. TBH tissues will be needed if the bad stuff happen to Isuzu and I assume seizonsha you base yourself also on the words of the OP aren't you?

So far I've gathered the following.

- The pills are experimental and are either for suppressing a villagers killing instinct or they are the cause of it.

- Each urban legend apparently has a different part in this story...similar to Higurashi. Whether or not they will link together we wont know till later.

- The Hassaku fruit are a form of suppression to the infected. I'm thinking the commercial is indeed some kind of alert system to make sure all the infected stay in their house while the execution squad does their thing. On the flip side this can also be a bad thing. If this is indeed a warning to the infected/wolves then there's nothing stopping them from all going outside and helping the one that's about to be killed off.

Another theory is that the ad is a way to remind everyone to take their pills. The wolf in the ad has blood shot eyes and looks like he's going crazy but the Hassaku are preventing his claws from extending too far.

- The moon seems to play a factor in this story. In almost every episode the moon is full and red, which simply isn't possible. The OP also zooms in on the moon at night and in day multiple times. It's pretty clear you cant have a full red moon everyday so something weird is going on. In common folklore a moon is supposed to cause the transformation of a werwolf. In this case it seems to be the catalyst that causes all these infected people's emotions to go out of wack.

- The girl at the beginning of the episode shouts "Why are you here? Why where you even born?" to Nemuru. At first glance this felt like it was a simple 'if you where not born I'd still be alive right now' type thing, however after giving it some thought there could be multiple reasons why she screamed that. One possible reason might be that Nemuru is the original wolf / carrier of the disease or a decedent. The doctor, her uncle/dad, may have been making the pills using her blood and experimenting on the people. He doesn't seem like a bad guy though so maybe the pill's original intention where to prevent something from happening to the villagers but in staid caused this weird fucked up monster.

- Nemuru is sad when she kills. This could be any number of things. Could be because she doesn't really want to kill. Could be because she knows the people, could also be because they where made from her.

- People can apparently move from the old village into the new if they are taking these pills. If their body starts going nuts then they are asked to move back to the old village. The old village is clearly a quarantine of some kind. Kind of goes against my original opinion of the old village being made up of the only real humans though.

- Nemuru's outfit is substantially different from her fellow assasins. While they all look like bats, Nemuru looks across from a bat and a wolf. She's sporting a wolf tail, two long braids, gray wolf hair, a white dress with a red bow, and what looks like drooped down ears. Her Scythe also resembled an over-sized K-9 tooth with a half moon at the back end of it. Again the moon is hinted at playing some role in this. I'm not exactly sure what all that means just yet. There's also the masks. All the assassins seem to wear them....I wonder if they shield their eyes from the power of the moon.

So many hints tossed at us. I've got all these theory's building inside but it's still to early to post them all lol.

This was a nice episode, we have more plot progression at least. Issei died, too bad, I found him amusing. Maybe if this does follow the route of Higurashi/Umineko, we'll have a reset? I'm not sure.

I like this theory, it sounds very plausible. I can't believe I didn't see this myself actually, I guess I'm just not all that engrossed in this mystery of Ryukishi's.

Interesting theories posted here...the most plausible one is the Hassaku commercial... An interesting episode, if not for Hakase's voice. I like Kobayashi Yuu's voice acting yet sometimes she slips up a bit.

I stand corrected. I apologize to everyone who got offended when I called this show garbage. It just dawned on me that this show is a giant allegory for HIV. How could I have been so blind? This is a masterpiece.

Really though, why did Hiro choose to run away from the apartment building instead of inside? This kid is dumb, but I guess there was enough development to just have him run away. Other plot points were obvious, but everyone's already mentioned them.

Pretty boring episode until the end. Isuzu is dumb.

Definitely my favorite episode so far. There is some serious damage control going on in this town. What the hell happens to these people when they're kissed?!
