More detailed storytelling about Yuri and Shiro.

Also important is now that Rin knows the truth of the past including the restricted Section 13 of Cross Academy. I felt familiar vibes compared to the Illuminati Arc/Saga. It's an important revelation as it serves as a motivation for Rin. This arc and the previous one really stirred up Rin's personal feelings. Props to the VA for protraying the character so well.

Shiro is ALL attitude at that age, but I guess I cannot blame him. Knowing what he knows, but like Mephisto says his own choice is not freedom either.
Poor Yuri.

And now it has a higher rating than the Blue Exorcist Movie, making Blue Exorcist Season 5 (The Blue Night Saga) currently the highest rated Blue Exorcist entry on MAL. Nice, even though it's probably the sequel effect.

Two points, both of which we already know, but I want to emphasize them:

▫ The ones from the Order may be the good guys, but they’re just as much SOBs as everyone else—nobody is exempt, just like in real life.

▫ The arc is still cooking up to break our hearts and souls. 😔

Animation improved a lot since Illuminati arc even for a small studio like Voln, this is one of my favorite arcs if not my favorite and I really love how it's going so far. Please give it a chance. Animation artstyle is closer to manga style than before for those who keep complaining about Rin's face. It really gave me goosebumps to finally get this part animated, the whole concept is so unexpected when you first watch Blue Exorcist and I think it gaves the story a whole different turn, love Shiro's development and his interactions with Yuri

Really bad.

Do we think Shemi is related to those grigori people somehow?

Is this really the same nice Old Man that raised Rin and Yukio?!

As the saying goes, you never know what someone went through until you walked in their shoes because he used to be ruthless! I can’t blame him for everything he’s been through. After all, he was forced to suffer as a test subject and watch everyone else die. All he knew was to survive.

I wonder what the turning point was

Shiro changed completely, he’s a different person now. He must destroy the Section and save Yuki.

That Mephisto is evil.

Interesting episode, this could be a great series. OP and ED are good too.

Not surprising Shiro turned to be like that after what happened to him and the clones, though it's surprising to see him with this kind of behavior when we only knew his old self

YURI, TAKE ALL MY MONEY. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT WITH IT!!!

That being said, the Lord has graced our era with an adaptation truly worthy of its eponymous manga. This season marks a monumental leap forward compared to its predecessors. But let us proceed step by step, as always.

This episode, beyond any personal enthusiasm, drags us into the raw and unflinching reality of this universe with chilling intensity. The Order is revealed to be as depraved as Illuminati. Nothing sets them apart except for their name. In their desperate bid to delay an inevitable ticking time bomb, they resort to unspeakable atrocities reminiscent of the heinous experiments conducted by the infamous Unit 731. Yet, according to the enigmatic and treacherous Mephisto, this is the only way to save the world. As for Rin, he is condemned to bear witness to these horrors, powerless to intervene, merely observing the inhumane experiments and unimaginable cruelties. However, he also comes to a dreadful realization about the boundless extremes Lucifer is prepared to breach at any given moment.

And yet, amidst this inferno, Yuri shines brightly, like a guiding star piercing through the darkness. Despite all she has endured—or perhaps because of it—she dedicates herself entirely to helping others. Her vision of the role of an exorcist directly clashes with that of Shiro. For those who might question it, Shiro’s character development is not only logical but profoundly moving. I shall say no more.

On the technical front, this season is magnificent. Beyond the ever-impressive voice acting and soundtrack, the animation demonstrates significant improvement over the previous two seasons. The brief yet impactful fight between Shiro and the ent is a clear testament to this progress. It is evident that Voln has taken fans’ critiques to heart, striving to surpass expectations and deliver a series of unparalleled quality (as reflected in this fifth season’s outstanding ratings, ranking third among the studio’s best works and first among Kato-Sensei’s anime adaptations).

With such a magnificent introduction, it’s hard not to look forward to what lies ahead with bated breath. So, brace yourselves and have your tissues at hand—this season promises to be a profoundly emotional journey.

At this point I feel like I completely lost my grasp on the story, why is it important to make clones for Lucifer? What happens if they don't? Isn't Lucifer the enemy?

@Gator Without spoiling too much, this is precisely why clones are created. As Mephisto said, Lucifer is far too dangerous to let his emotions run wild. And let's not forget that this story takes place 25 years before that of Rin and co.

@Kumoiro_Shizuki So I guess we will get the answer to that later if you talk about spoilers? That's alright then, I just feel like after 3 seasons we should at least have a basic grasp of the story haha

@Gator Don't rush, my friend. A great deal of information was already revealed. But when it comes to hearing Lucifer's power, you'll have to be patient. I don't even think the arc showing this will be showing its face just yet (too few chapters to make new seasons after the blue night memories arc)
