Been reading the manga for this so kinda knew what to expect.

Mariabelle's characfter introduction for most parts is goofy and there's some fan service added in. She's a fun character to be around with as an elf. Not a fan of Kazuhiho but he has to be there as the main male protagonist here. Meanwhile, I think this episode serves just as an introductory episode should. Looking forward to seeing how their relationship will develop.

Really love how he didn’t realize he was actually going to another world in his dreams, even when he took real-life food with him. And yeah, it seems like he can revive every time he falls asleep and wakes up after he dies. But this time, Elf-san got a little too close and ended up being pulled into the real world too. I’m guessing her only way back might be to fall asleep herself since she probably can’t just resurrect like he does. Also, getting nuked by a dragon seems like the fantasy-world equivalent of getting hit by truck-kun for an isekai setup eh xD

Still, I wonder if he’s been thinking this whole time that the isekai is just a dream. Imagine if he was in a party where everyone was killed, then wakes up in Japan thinking it’s fine, only to return the next night and find out they’re still dead. That would really suck, to realize those “characters” were real people who are actually gone. Also curious if Elf-san can do any kind of magic in the real world, and whether we’ll ever get an explanation for the world-hopping or if it’ll just stay an “unsolvable mystery” type of plot point.

And seriously, when’s he going to tell her that Kazuhiro isn’t his real name? Lol. Imagine walking down the street and hearing someone speaking elf language, like seriously. Solid premiere though. Looking forward to more.

Novelist Suzuki Makishima's reverse Isekai series is truly one of the new breeds to reinvent the tropes and give it unique twists, it's a good story after all.

Rico Sasaki's OP is good, alongside Kaede Higuchi & Kanae's ED.

The salaryman of Kazuhiro Kitase having a dream-like fantasy during his sleep since young, and all he has for a companion is the over-100-year-old elf of Mariabelle (whom he calls her Marie) to go through the stereotypical fantasy tropes of dungeons and the like, with the added twist of the food being bento from back home, and the monsters being part-and-parcel of his own dream being friends and all. Well, except for the legendary dragon that both are facing against, and death meant that Kitase is sent back to the real world without any repercussions...but with Marie accompanying him?

The dragon breath's attack meant both Kitase and Marie being sent back to Japan, and in a hurry for the former to immediately find clothings for her while the latter is left to assimilate the shock that she's actually in Japan...or rather, she's very excited to be in his world. Still, there're things that are taboo on Earth (like her elf ears), and getting Marie to get used to her new life with the culture shock after awaking together with Kitase on his usual dream sequence. More than ever, it's the food and atmosphere that excites her the most, and Kitase having to be her guide from eating various types of food, to the cherry blossoms of the Spring, that's just so much to explore.

Welcome to Japan, Elf-san. This show is and will be pure diabetes.

EP 1

Not much to say about this ep its basically a long introduction
The ep itself is kinda soso im hoping that with ep 1 done ep 2 onwards will be the actual anime
Its still not entirely sure what marie will be doing
I think she mentioned that she doesnt know how to read or write? Though in theory that could be solved offscreen
Theres also the question of what happens when they both go back to sleep now

This was a quick paced and well written first episode.

I have often thought of a "dream" as being a gateway into another world, so to see it in an anime actually makes me kind of happy.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Title and cover gave it right away that this would be another reverse isekai with an elf. Good, unlike the case with regular isekai we're not tired of an elf exploring Japan yet.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Frieren, hmmh passed.

Mariabelle, let's go best girl of the season.

This episode is just as wholesome as I remember from the manga. I love the dynamic between these two a lot. Kazuhiho is a pretty chill guy and his interaction with Marie also pretty natural. Watching a cute girl with personality like Mariabelle is just a pure blessing. Never like Isekai but I do enjoy reverse Isekai a lot and this is just a mix between them plus all the fun adventure. Two of them also sing the ED together, nice. This is far exceeding my expectation of the anime and this is a very good premiere.

Lovely first episode, turned out better then expected.Neat lil twist on way of getting isekai'd,wonder how he figured out he could bring a lunch in the first place lol.

Marie adapted real quick in the new world.Kinda neat they kept the language thing around instead of it being her usual.Looking like a pretty fun chill ride with a side of romance. And foodgasm a plenty.

Interesting, she just woke up without clothes, lol.
maybe because the dragon burned everything, even the staff, haha, but he was already wearing clothes in the ''real'' world.
And when he goes to the other world, their clothes are different, so that explains everything, right? But I prefer to say it's fanservice. 😁

A solid first episode. I thought Kazuhiho lucid dreamed so hard that his dreams become lifelike and have some continuity. Also, 100 years seems very young for an elf.

The core concept of switching bodies for different world is pretty much same as John Carter. But here it'll be pretty much just reverse isekai. Funny how bro thought he was just delusional lol. Anyway feels like a fluffy anime with some minor ecchi/fanservice. So she's a G cup, that's big. Cute interactions, should be a relaxing watch. Theme songs were okay.

looks pretty fun; i liked the first episode and I'm excited to see more.

I'm not sure if the sleeping thing and world-traveling part will be touched upon in the future, but that would be an interesting premise alongside common SoL expirences.

Wake up
peak male fantasy has dropped..

Been waiting for months since seeing about this anime. Getting an elf waifu from literally your dream, my man Kazuhiho is too lucky.

Really loved the concept and it is exactly what i expected comfy SoL with Elf girl. OP is fine and ED is fantastic. Wholesome and sweet start, it could be one of my favourite of the season.
Marie is so cute and pretty...

I can't wait for more of her.

I needed to suspend my disbelief a little to accept this premise, but it's still a nice and fresh idea for a reverse isekai show.
Also I really like the chemistry between the two leads.

This scene where she spins on the ground brimming with excitement was so damn cute.

Not confident that she can go back home. I suspect that being killed in you home 'real' world is different that being killed a dream world.

The to an Elf Maiden's heart is pretty much the usual way to a man's heart.

"Actually, why is a girl from my dreams here at all?"
Bro! Don't jinx it!

The typical dull, nondescript, and slightly goofy looking MMC, and a bit more beautiful that usual FMC.

The first episode is a fantastic start, blending humor, charm, and a unique premise that immediately hooks you. The dynamic between the characters is delightful, and the mix of fantasy and modern Japan feels fresh and well-executed.

The pacing is spot on, and the story balances lighthearted moments with intriguing hints of deeper themes. It’s an engaging and fun watch that sets up plenty of potential for the episodes to come.

Firstly 2 random points, I've seen many anime with sailor uniform but this show probably has my favourite colour combination its very vibrant. Secondly the music in this show is amazing idk who's singing the opening but she killed it.

To speak on the show itself the general plot is very simple but if executed right this show will be amazing. Idk if this is a romance but if it is I really hope they just stick to showing these 2 characters and don't add any bs characters which ruin Kazu and Marie's dynamic. Kazu doesn't seem too interesting but in no way is he boring for an mc. As for Marie I like her quite a lot, again she don't seem too interesting but a lot of fun nonetheless. Their dynamic together seems to really shine through though.

Im very curious to how they'll handle the language barrier between Marie and Japan.

If this show is done right this could be a top 5 or top 3 of the season easily

Amazing first episode.

Okay, I get that this is otaku wish fulfillment, but seriously, the first outfit he bought her is basically a school uniform? Wouldn't that look weird? He's a fully-grown adult, he should have gotten her adult clothes so they'd blend in more. Also, how did he even know her measurements to purchase a bra? Again, it'd make more sense to get her one set, then take her shopping so she could pick out things that fit her. Ah well. It's still a cute premise.

Cute elf somehow ending up in Modern Japan’s and trying to acclimate to modern society? Close enough. Welcome back Otaku Elf.

Mariabelle is who y’all tried to tell me Emilia was. I’m so fucking in love with her, one of the prettiest designs ever omg. Textbook wish fulfillment set up with the MC literally getting the girl of his dreams to show up in Japan, BUT as we know, execution is the most important thing and I believe they did this perfectly. Kazuhiho being able to go between both worlds via sleep is dope. Could lead to some interesting storylines.

The two leads’ chemistry is really good far. They both obviously have a thing for each other, but it’s not too overly lovey dovey. Hopefully they pace it well to keep things interesting! Art style looks great too.

The character design seems off. It's flat compared to the manga and lacks the charm of the elf by its simplified drawing. (color arrangement of irises, no semitransparent processing for hair, flat skin coloring)

Very charming and made good use of the first half of the episode to provide lots of introductory info about the MC. I definitely felt fully connected with it by the halfway point, in contrast to the "Around 40" Isekai yesterday. Very optimistic about this one.

I'm reminded of some brief episodes in Outbreak Company and Princess Connect (game only) in which the elf got taken to Japan for a short while.

I'm a little unsure about which language (Elvish or Japanese) is actually being spoken when, and when it's just translated for the viewer's convenience. I guess constructing a language would just get in the way in this genre. -And if I want a language barrier, there's this season's Okinawa-based anime.

I recall in Zero no Tsukaima the language barrier was simply eliminated with magic, although it didn't work for written Japanese.
