The manager, Machida, is hospitalized. It's at Eda Hospital, the same place where Tsunehiro once received a terminal diagnosis, bringing back memories of his illness after a long time.

The next day, Tsunehiro is struck by severe abdominal pain.

Took long enough for something to happen with Tsunehiro’s illness… but not like this

Better late than never i guess right, Sasaki finally opened up about his condition to someone, no surprise that the person he opens to is Takaaki, and as i have suspected Takaaki had someone who died of illness too, his little brother ... i guess thats in part what motivated him to help our main-kun.

It's also interesting to see how similar Sasaki and Takaaki are, despite at first glance looking like complete opposites. You can keep running away to any direction, but your past will always catches up with you, no matter who you are, or what color you paint your hair ... this for sure was the best episode yet.

Aaannnddd dropped. I thought the MC was a total loser since the start, but the other characters were appealing that made me push through until now. Until this ep that is... People keep extending their hands to the MC yet the MC keeps blowing it and destroying his own life then acts like the victim of some sort of neglect. Then he goes on rampaging and destroying someone else's house like he owns the place!

Tsunehiro finally opened up to Takaaki about his illness and how scared he is. I kinda suspected that Takaaki was also running away from something but it's sad to see that it is the death of his brother.

At first it seemed that Takaaki had a quiet, drama-free life, but his history with his brother reveals otherwise. Tsunehiro mirrors Takaaki's brother, causing them both to run away from what they have to face.

Tsunehiro finally comes clean with Takaaki about his illness. From now on, the episodes might be sadder. It's strange because we came from calm and funny episodes, even though we knew this would happen, just like Tsunehiro, we were just ignoring it the problem.

Waking straight up to Sasaki running away from yet another one of his problems at Mach 5, but it turns out that Takaaki has actually been more successful at running away from his problems. Crucially, this episode establishes a timeframe. Three years since Takaaki's brother died, and at least six months since Sasaki was diagnosed with "two years to live-itis."

It's good that they're finally addressing the cancer. I can cross off the possibility of Sasaki's diagnosis being some fake adversity to cheaply get viewers invested in his character. That being said, fuck this MC once again. Takaaki wants to make sure you don't end up like his brother, and he's been a total bro so far, but you're doing him and his house that dirty?

The MC has finally gotten to the point where he wants to live to the next day. He's turned his despair that was strong enough to attempt suicide into daily smiling and enjoyment, only to be reminded that death is waiting for him in the near future. So his feelings come to bear. The frustration from being reminded you only have a limited time to live when you finally are at the point of actually wanting to live more boiled over and he lashed out. He's come to see Takaaki as a role model and nearly seemed ready to face his reality and get checked at the hospital with Takaaki's support, only to realize his role model isn't as perfect as he thought. If even the seemingly strong, cool and kind Takaaki is running away from his own issues, then why can't he run away too?

I know this episode tried to make it seem like the little brother died of illness today, but a few hints point to that not being the case. From early on it's seemed to me that his brother killed himself. In my opinion, that's why Takaaki has able to easily pick up on so many hints and why he displayed such a high level of concern for Tsunehiro this whole time.

If I had to guess, I'd expect Takaaki to have come to the conclusion that he needs to become the man Tsunehiro thought he was or he'll end up losing another person close to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was headed to deal with this immediately due to the sort of exit he had at the end there, but it also might take him a bit to figure it out too. Confronting this kind of trauma is never easy for anyone, Takaaki included. In the end we'll either get a nice happy ending where Tsunehiro's fishing and friendship inspired lack of depression seems to have cured his disease (or the 2.6/5 rated hospital gave a bad diagnosis) or a heartbreaking ending where everyone around him has to deal with the impending loss of a new friend while he comes to terms with how unfair life can be. Regardless of which it ends up being, they'll face it together.

I agree with whoever it was above that said this was the best episode so far. Even knowing this sort of thing was going to catch up to the MC's eventually, this still crushed me. Keep up the good work team.

@AfroWarrior27 This is how I feel. Like bro is scared a doctor is going to confirm that he is in fact going to die. While it’s frustrating to watch, can you blame him?? Who wants to come face to face with that reality. Just like when people were mad that a gambling addict wasn’t magically reformed in one week just because people were kind to him, it doesn’t work like that lmao

i have the suspicion that tsunehiro's diagnosis might not be accurate.

one because that's the kind of twist i can see from this type of show

and two because of the rating of the hospital being low.

other than that, i knew there was going to be a break down at some point, but i'm still sad about it. i kind of figured that takaaki had lost someone close to him, but i didn't actually expect for him to have been avoiding it. or for things to have blown up like they did. anyways, tsunehiro please get a second opinion.

@Ronninn Yeah, Im expecting a misdiagnosis and the reason why the hospital has such a low score is because MC isnt the only one who had that happen to them with those doctors.

Production quality on this ep was stellar. PA really brought out their A game for the best episode of the series. That final 5 minutes was a masterclass in character acting, expressiveness and voice acting. Bravo, especially to Tsunehiro’s seiyuu who perfectly conveyed that mix of anguish, regret and fear. Incredible.

Takaaki is the best friend you could ever ask for. Imagine a younger person, I.e early 20s pushing you to make a doctor’s appointment and stay on top of your health. I know he came off a little pushy because of his brother’s death, but I would damn near cry if I had a guy friend who truly cared for me that way. Yea a lot of it is because of his brother’s death, but I also just think he sees Tsunehiro as a little brother figure and wants to protect him specifically.

I do think Tsunehiro was an asshole to him in that sequence, but it’s also understandable because Tsunehiro knows the doctor is gonna give a bad prognosis probably and he’s just scared. Who wants to know they’re dying or how much time they have left, it’s just depressing so I get his hesitancy.

Takaaki himself should also understand that everyone processes things differently and I mean he bailed on his own family so shit he can’t really talk about anyone running away 😭 not calling your people for 3 years is wild!

I feel like these last few eps are gonna be absolutely gut wrenching. Hopefully Tsunehiro can get some good news.

@Marinate1016 The thing that makes it even sadder is that Tsunehiro of course was probably being an asshole to Takaaki but you can't exactly blame him as this is probably the most realistic reaction to this kind of situation for someone like Hiro, the contrast between the 2 when dealing with their struggles are totally the opposite, Takaaki is calm but he's still avoiding his personal problems while Hiro is impulsive and destructive yet Hiro stopped when he was about to throw the mug, this solidifies the fact that he probably realizes and knows he's being a piece of sht towards Takaaki who has helped him so much and he's probably mad at himself for it and devastated that he screwed up so much and pushed away the probably only person who has genuinely ever cared for him since years

Finally an adult cast ep

The best ep so far, so many emotions in this episode.

Ep 2-9 , are « boring », only happiness…

The boy is sick and was struggling in ep 1, and ep 10 is what i was waiting for.

You can not just close your eyes and be happy when you know that you will die soon…

I’m excited for the second time to see what will happen next…

I’m ngl, I miss when they just went fishing lol, ending of this one was very upsetting. I had a feeling that this was coming soon tho, with so many chill episodes and little to no mention of Tsunehiro’s illness, it had to come eventually, and with just two episodes left, now is the time. Drama was really well done tho, it really hurt seeing these two great friends let their problems consume them and break them apart, yeah Tsunehiro kinda reverted back to his old self but you can’t really blame the man, and then there was the reveal with Takaaki’s own family situation… tough stuff man.

But you know what, I personally feel there’s light at the end of this tunnel, some are saying these last episodes are going to be sad, but I think it will mainly be episode 11 and then we’ll get back to the show’s usual chill and silly goodness, it’ll be really wild if this actually ends badly and I’ll respect it if they do, but I don’t think all those SoL episodes where Tsunehiro grew as a person (and a fisherman) were for nothing. Friends and fishing saved our boy before, I think it’s gonna happen again in bringing these two friends back together, I believe in fishing! Also, I see some people mentioning the hospital rating, that may indeed plan a role but I’ve been thinking Tsunehiro isn’t actually dying since very early on in the show, it’ll be interesting to learn the truth there.

Oh wow, the show remembered whole cancer and 2 years before death thing. It was done pretty good though NGL. We all knew the elephant in the room would not be ignored forever. Guess last 3 episodes (this included) will be enough?

Hospital Sasaki went to had 2.6/5 rating on "google" reviews lol. I think this can be taken as a major hint the hospital is SHIT and Sasaki got diagnosed mistakenly. Meaning he isn't terminally ill and won't die in 2 years (1.5) after all.

Holy fucking shit that was excellent, I already knew shit was gonna go down since there was no OP, plus the last episode literally being the calm before the storm.

I knew it, they were going to tie Takaaki's backstory with Tsunehiro and it fucking hurts.

Honestly at this point, I feel that the anime has been perfectly paced, like we really saw how much Tsunehiro has grown and I think he was really considering going to the hospital until he found out about Takaaki running away too.

I hope they nail the last 2 episodes.

Also, seeing the hospital's rating being 2.6 made me giggle lmao. I don't think it's that unusual for an hospital to have that kind of rating, but it's still funny.

Well.. 2 Episodes left

No way they're gonna be able to follow through with the illness plotline in just 2 eps.

My bet's on incorrect diagnostic, the doctor probably just read it wrong. As well as the scene where the hospital showed to only have 2 stars might be foreshadowing.

Feels like a cop out but it's an anime original so Idk what I expected.
They probably forgot about this whole thing and remembered it when they needed drama for the 10th ep

I hope I'm wrong, I'll still finish it but I'll be disappointed if I'm not.

10 episodes in and the show finally got use of the drama tag. Indeed, from this development what I gather is that the focus was never on Hana, Meru or any of the other side characters that got their own episode just for us to not forget they were there. No, the focus was on Hiro but more specifically on Takaaki's internal struggles from hsi past. Hiro is a very failed character and sometimes he annoys me but he's human after all and he shows that in the way he acts and behaves. Takaaki from the get-go was someone we knew was trying to forget or cover for something and now we know what it is.

Needless to say, the fact that the horrible OP didn't play was an indicator of how serious the matters would become.

Braindead take ngl, i wont defend the attitude of the mc but its only human to want to solve an issue by yourself especially when youre surrounded by people that youve only met months ago, and eitherway he did end up opening up eventually. I wont defend him rampaging the place but i dont think anyone would react all calmly after a situation like that, especially when you get grabbed by the collar and yelled at.

Welp, for Machida to be hospitalized at the same exact hospital where Tsunehiro landed himself in the past, it's Takaaki who stands by him as a friend, and the curses just don't stop coming with thankfully just getting away with food poisoning over horse mackerel sashimi. And with Ice reinterpreting Tsunehiro's point, Takaaki is momentarily brought back to the days of when they first met, but it's not too much to the point that's worth remembering, just not yet.

The only perfect time is to confront said person privately, and Takaaki wastes no time gruelling Tsunehiro about his actual disease, accompanied by his own brother's demise that despite being immoral about his behavior, he stands with him trying to understand the full extent of the disease (though the hospital's absymal 2.6 rating has got me wondering if his diagnosis truly does have his life in danger). Worse still, Takaaki's uncle coming to find him being a runaway to at least give respect to his brother through his grave, the negative connotations all start coming back again after much of the positivity that's a facade to hide away the secrets untold, and this happened at the worst possible time where both guys are facing exact circumstances, and yet, run away from their problems being the scum they are.

Is there ever no recourse for both guys at this point...
