One of my favorite songs is "The Lake and The River" by The Dear Hunter (a totally underrated band).
I really love the strong vocals and the story in the song; you can listen to it on its own, or as a part of the narrative told throughout their albums. The instruments used also hook me in so hard, I listen to this song on loop for hours at a time.

been obsessed with the new album from the cure, the etherial sound and how it lets you sit with it for a while (its a 7min song) is just amazing.

I'd recommend listening to Sou, though you may already know him from his collabs with Eve (that's actually how I discovered him). He's also an utaite and his MV's have a similar vibe to those of Eve.

If you haven't listened to Ao album yet, I'd recommend listening to all of the songs, because they're all honestly very good! Here's I think my favourite one from the album:

I may be biased (I really like the song and just about everything Giga's worked on, even just with arranges) but I think the cover is great, even if it's a bit different to Sou's more popular covers.

@andreth This is actually my first time hearing this one and I have to say, I really like Sou's part, but I have mixed feelings about Ivudot (nothing really against him, but I just feel his voice doesn't really suit this song). I also may be biased though after hearing the original so many times...

@Rivka44 That has such a fun energy! While, not necessarily from an anime (it's an American animation), I recommend Checkmate from RWBY Vol 9. It has that jazz/funk feel.

I like epic instrumentals, so I love Evan Call's Violet Evergarden album, especially Across the Violet Sky

This is tough as there are tons of them to choose from.
I think I'll go with something recent like 音色の軌跡(Neiro no Kiseki) which is a character song from Hibike Euphonium 3. It is a duet between the characters Oumae Kumiko and Kousaka Reina.

Okay, the anime song I am sending your way is Afro Gunso which is the first ending theme from Keroro Gunsou! The full song is great, but I wanted to link the ending theme itself just because it is chaotic. I also recommend the anime. Hahah.
I also feel like you might like the song Night by Night by Chromeo! It has a similar vibe to the song that you shared. If you like this song, definitely check out the rest of their music. A lot of their music is bouncy and catchy!

I am a person who likes to discover new genres of music constantly, so it is not strange that my musical taste is strange. I don't think it will be very difficult to recommend something to me. My favourite songs usually are pop or rock genres.

As for me, I love songs with dark concepts/tones, I mostly listen to kpop and a bit of jpop atm(Dreamcatcher, Purple Kiss, Pixy, Pink Fantasy, Phantom Siita, Vocaloid...), but I'm open to recommendations in any languages!

Not sure who to tag so here are a few recommendations to anyone interested!


I looove necchi's music, they've only got a few songs out as of writing this but they're all awesome, really dynamic and detailed and their voice is very pleasant to listen to. The accompanying music videos are also super cool, 'Reverse' from this year especially looks amazing.



Saito Soma is probably my favourite solo artist ever, his voice is ethereal to me and there's quite a bit of range to his music, though it's mostly somewhere within the j-rock umbrella (I think). Some songs are just fun, some are painfully depressing and some are plain gorgeous. I find this one, 'Hiraeth', part of the last two categories. The music video is also very beautiful as always. I also really love Soma's lyrics, he seems to enjoy pondering existential and gloomy/melancholic topics and that definitely reflects onto his music, MVs and other personal writing.



Midori is a new discovery for me, I really enjoy how experimental their sound is. A lot of it is very noisy and more punk than jazz, but this is a softer one. This song in particular makes me feel something rather indescribable. Like a revitalizing sadness, kinda. I've also been liking the singer's solo songs. Check out 'DJ Mariko Goto (DJ後藤まりこ) - DEMO (2018)' if you're into weird and loud electronic music.
