| Natsume and Nyanko-sensei visit the Hakozaki estate after being approached by Hakozaki’s granddaughter, Beniko, for advice. Beniko, who has been visiting the mansion to help organize it, has sensed strange figures and presences around the estate. While investigating the cause, they spot Seiji in the garden, holding a familiar umbrella. Persuaded by Seiji, Natsume and his friends end up working with the Matoba clan to search for the spirits. Amid this, a new spirit appears, targeting Seiji's right eye. |

| Must be some kind of luck, to first get stuck in a sudden downpour, then ending up at an abandoned as hell station, and then… cherry on top, meeting Matoba of all people. Don’t like this guy, and I think this show doesn’t actually even want us to like him. Btw, I liked the fact how the first thing Natsume thought after meeting him was to just leave right away lol. Can’t say that sentiment changed even when he met Matoba in what was supposed to be a different story in the same episode. Though if anything, this episode just shows the kind of things Matoba or his people deal with. I thought that ayakashi inside the bird cage had a more scary story around it, but nah, that doll or whatever doing whatever it did for Matoba’s right eye was actually something else lol. Can never be a dull episode when Matoba’s in it, seriously xD |

| This episode was pretty dark. Matobe always being so mysterious it's unclear what he is thinking and what he is doing. But at least he doesn't seem that bad to me. I wonder if he and Natsume will ever find common ground. |

| Interesting...they told the forbidden doll story as a flashback in between meeting Matoba at the abandoned train station. I didn't expect to see a previously introduced character like Beniko-san again at the mansion that previously had the two dragons. Episodic characters are usually one-time deals and never seen again, so it's quite unusual. I hope they do it more often. Beniko-san is quite pretty in her casual clothes. She also seems to have mellowed out compared to her last appearance. I'm glad they're revisiting some opened plot threads about Natsume's grandfather, which we know virtually nothing about compared to his grandmother...and probably won't learn another clue or so much as a mere mention until like season 20, lol. Come to think of it, maybe his grandmother learned about how to make those paper sutras/talismans that she usually had plastered onto a baseball bat or broom...it would explain a lot if Natsume's grandfather was also an exorcist. Next week, Taki is back! |

| this episode leaned a bit on the dark side, but not overly dark, just heavy & foreboding. i dunno if i feel sorry for matoba or see him as nothing but the enemy. either way, natsume's guards are always up whenever he's around so that means he is still a sus character lol |

| Matoba clan story where we learn more about the Matoba history. Even Natsume at the end empathizes with the Matoba scion, admitting that he doesn't know if he could do what that man can. I'm not even sure he's a villain anymore, must an exorcist who uses his own clans methods which some might consider cruel. Ah the shades of grey are what make me love this anime. |
