In your opinion, does this anime deserve the Ecchi tag?

I love this anime and so far it's a 10/10 anime for me, I hope it stays that way, but I do feel like it kinda deserves the Ecchi tag somewhat but I haven't decided yet since it's not as extreme as other Ecchi animes out there, but it does have it somewhat, this is some sort of "light" Ecchi.

What about you guys, do you think it deserves the Ecchi tag or not?

outside of the first episode's sexual assault scene and the constant dick jokes, it really doesn't feel all that explicit. more high school level of sex humor more than anything.

so i'd say no.

@CheliosX MAL doesn't have the manga with the Ecchi tag though, it probably has the Ecchi tag on another website.

People who say that are typically the ones who watch the first-second ep and judge the entirety of the show off that. All anime has fan service and we can all agree it’s lame and could do without. But this show is far from ecchi😂there are shows way worse than this and deserve that title. Dandadan is along the same lines of FLCL and EVA where it’s present but isn’t the focus, it’s like a coming of age story where these kids are falling for each other and growing in those feelings because they’ve never felt them before. Meant to be relatable because we were all once there, could it do without naked highschool girls about to be SA’d by aliens sure but it’s not presented in a way that it’s glorifying it, it’s meant to showcase the mc coming to save her from that and provoke an emotional moment as it did when okarun wanted to stop them, cuz he likes her. Overall, I’m not a fan of over fan service, but this isn’t ecchi, it follows suit for most anime

I think with the topics being shown and discussed, they added it for caution sake.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

there is little bit of fan service but not enough to be ecchi

Hell no! It only has a few underwear shots in the first episode IIRC, so no, not at all. Even something like 2.5 Dimensional Seduction barely qualifies as ecchi. Dandadan is not deserving of that tag, at all.

I don't know. For me ecchi is when they focus more on the characters being half-naked.

Ya know, as a watcher you get conscious of the characters exposure of bare skin. But in case of DanDaDan, even if they end up in their underwears, it doesn’t get to me like that.

Though I admit, I sometimes pause on certain scenes. 🙂

There's not a whole lot of "ecchi" scenes tbh. I was caught up with the manga way months before the anime was even announced, and from that time, until now, I would say there's a relatively low number of chapters in which the characters are appearing semi naked 😂😂. Momo's grandma Seiko though has her cleavage visible most of the time

- but these so called "ecchi" scenes are usually at a good distance from each other - many chapters apart often. Fanservice and ecchi has never been a thing of focus in DanDaDan. But I'll admit that Yukinobi Tatsu can draw his females really pretty though, so whenever there's a bit of boob or cleavage on the scene, it's sure to catch one's attention 😂😂.

The anime has it sparingly so far, not yet exactly achieving "ecchi" status.

Also a sexual assault scene, ain't an ecchi scene, unless it's for pure entertainment. Ecchi literally stands for being "playfully sexual".

This series doesn't deserve an ecchi tag at all, Sono Bisque Doll which is much more ecchi than this doesn't have the tag for whatever reason despite being constantly asked to have it. Hell, even other battle shonen like Fairy Tail which has more fanservice than this one doesn't have ecchi either.

It's only been a few episodes out so can't say for sure but so far it's very family friendly, with the typical "hahaha balls, pepe" humor.

The ecchi elements in this manga are a constant but overall it's pretty light, light enough so it can go under the radar of non anime watchers.
