| Rounding up the Fall 2024 anime, from the author of Spring 2007's Over Drive and the more well-known series that is Spring 2016's Days, this is mangaka Tsuyoshi Yasuda's 3rd anime adaptation in the form of this show, in the same timeline as Rurouni Kenshin during the pre-Shinsengumi era. Spyair's OP and The Jet Boy Bangerz's ED are decent songs, at least for the 1st Cour here. The pre-Shinsengumi setting focusing on the errand boy of the adopted Nio Chirinu operating a small family restaurant in Kyoto alongside his grandmother and his orphaned "younger sister" Iroha (who are not related by blood), hearing the infamous group that is the Miburo doing all acts of violence being masterless samurai definitely sets alarm bells ringing. The presence of two of those guys: Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Souji, which has the ladies swarming around them and the adopted children just doing what they know best, everything seems normal at first glance. The usual night's walk between Nio and Iroha, encounters a shady group of child slavery kidnappers, only to be saved by both Hijikata and Okita, whom are those related Roshigumi (before they're formally called the Miburo). One of the kidnappers being forced into the act pleads for help thanks to Nio noticing that he's unlike the rest, and both capable samurai get the act done before the light of the day. But the helpless one being Nio who wants to see his surroundings change for the better, if not for both men saving their lives against people who commit heinous acts every passing day and night, they reassure him that they'll take care of him, as their new wolf of Miburo, the 3rd in their guard. Nio will face a world that will be worse than what he and Iroha experienced that night, this is only the very beginning. This 2-cour show will definitely be a test for the now 6-year-old minted studio of Maho Film to see if they can keep a 24-episode season as consistent as their last-action heavy series of 100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru a.k.a I’m Standing on a Million Lives. |

| Can't just stop at Kenshin when it comes to Japanese "history" anime. I say with quotation marks because while they do take place in those times, they their own little twist to the whole thing. This time around, instead of it being about a rurouni, it's about ronin's. Guess you could say that Nio's the Kaoru, for now at least, of the group, with the two knuckleheads being Kenshin in a nutshell basically. They're both badass in the same sense that Kenshin is, and pretty much have the same goal of making the world a safer place for everyone, and that makes me like them already. So, it was pretty obvious how this episode would end, with the ronin's taking in Nio as one of them, and becoming that third wolf among their pack, which seemed to be a formidable foe in the end from what gramps in the beginning said.... or is that actually him?? Who knows, time will tell. Yeah, I like Kenshin, so ofc, I'm gonna like the hell out of this premiere, and the whole show I would hope. Good OP by the goats SPYAIR btw. |

| It was alright nothing is outstanding so far. But it kept me interested during the episode. |
| Pretty much a classic action shounen start and the scenario of the first episode was obvious enough but I don't mind at all. Wanted to read the manga ever since it came out but couldn't due to lack of translation whether fan translated or official. Official translation just reached volume 3 I think so anime will go past that in no time. Was looking forward to this and was a bit skeptic considering it was Maho Film's first two cour project and also their first time adapting a non generic isekai fantasy which they usually rush as well but from the first episode it looks pretty good. Had some good scenes as well. Should be a fun historical action anime with samurais. Looking forward to upcoming episode. Btw Iroha's adorable, hoping her adoptive family treats her well. |

| Finally we get an anime focused on the Shinsengumi which is interesting considering we have Kenshin that takes place around the same time period. Nio is one of those male protagonist that looks a little feminine like Tokiyuki from the Elusive Samurai. Of course Nio wants to get stronger after failing to protect his adoptive sister and knowing the Shinsengumi, its going to get bloodier down the road. |

| I am a sucker for anything Samurai (or in this case, Ronin) and I'm not disappointed. I like this a lot. Nio seems to be a complex character, and I'm excited to see how he develops with Hijikata and Okita. |

| Unimpressive start, with zero surprises. Maho Film doesn't inspire confidence, and there's really nothing to talk about so far. Characters flap their mouths, and action is simple and cut-up. There was a big teary shounen outburst that I didn't really understand where it was coming from. I guess the art is decent, especially the colors. Hope the story begins proper next episode. |

| This seems exceptionally bland so far. Really needs some actual fight animation to pull together the basic plot. |

| I really didn't understand Nio's part at the end. The purpose was to give him a reason to accept their offer, but it did feel kinda forced from an outside perspective. They will probably reveal more stuff in his past to explain it I suppose. Art looks quite nice at times tho. |
Nio is definitely samurai material. I'm honestly looking forward to this anime. |

| So when I clicked on this, I was not thinking of it being an anime of a bunch of hot guys I get to watch. However very start of opening made clear that's what this is for me <3 I knew immediately when he intentionally spilled tea on him, was about to get bad. I almost cried for Iroha but luckily they kept it short. Unfortunately for Nio, the world hasn't changed with many people specifically wanting war, rape, child [sex] abuse, et cetera. For my mental health, just that real world theme being there made me consider dropping, but I will continue (the one anime I got myself to drop was VERY extreme and accurate on the very real modern global problem, I failed to drop another 4/10 anime that triggered my PTSD and watched through anyways). 4/5, great personality interactions. |

| This is promising. Nio has a great seiyuu, who also voiced Kobato and Nukumizu. The kidnapping and the arrival is rather cliche though. Anyway, me personally, I haven't watched a piece of media focusing on the Shinsengumi itself. It's good as far as I'm concerned. I hope I don't get disappointed. |
