The first ep was absolutely amazing , i had a great time watching it. And the plot is fairly unique successfully incorporating different genres and making it work quite smoothly , the characters are interesting , the art is awesome .
Just hope that this anime will live up to the high standards that it has managed to set for itself .

been so long since i was this excited for a new airing anime

Yo, this was pretty damn good. I will always give shows that puts a unique take on things a try and I have always liked the modern-fantasy setting, and this takes it up a notch, it's a cyberpunk-dystopian-fantasy, it's really cool.

Vtubers are eternal, they're still around in 2099.

what a sad depiction of a villain. Are japs mostly incapable of depicting a proper villain? For a show clearly inspired by blade runner, they really dropped the ball on that one.

So this time, the anime is not about a weakling suddenly becoming omnipotent, but a mighty demon lord turning into less than regular. Such a simple twist on the too-well-known formula, but an exciting concept nonetheless.
Although, I hope the subtext is going to be a bit more than "tech-dystopia (obviously paralleling modern Japan) is... le bad!" as that'd be quite uninspired.

i thought this is gonna be a typical demon lord reincarnation goes overpowered over time, but this one is a bit different.
waking up after 500 years into a cyberpunk world, turns out his specialty at chantless magic is outdated since nowadays people are much faster than that due to technology. (makes me remember Qual from Frieren, they are simply outdated).

first episode is promising, i hope this one isn't going to be a generic plot.

Hol up did I just find a hidden gem? Also I can't believe we still have Towa sama in 2099!!!!

For the demon lord things truly have changed. Think of the scene with Qual in Frieren but now instead of 80 years or whatever now it's 500 years and the demon lord is weaker than the average person and probably can't even beat a 5-year-old with the familia or whatever thing. I really love this magic cyberpunk aesthetic. The character designs are also nice. Machina deserves all the praise. We also see someone who looks like the hero in rags? How's he a mortal still around 500 years later? Also will this be the better Devil is a part timer that we've all been wanting?

Definitely going to watch this this season

I also just noticed but doesn't he have the same VA as Ainz sama????!

It looks solid so far. I like the cyberpunk setting and the idea of the Demon Lord having to work his way back up.

I also hope he can counter that Familia tech since he can't use it.

Since that limitation appears to be a matter of intentional design, the Familia might be able to be reworked to remove that limitation. Note that Marcus is wearing one, and he is supposedly immortal.

very good episode. The futuristic setting is pretty cool. The plot where the demon king is weak after reincarnating after many years later is similar to other, but that my favorite part.
The edgy mc character design was cool. In the op there was one shot where one of the characters were standing in a crowd and it reminded me of the meme that the stand user could be anywhere.

Great start, didn't expect this at all. I thought this would be another shitty comedy-anime where the demon lord encounters "funny" scenes in the modern world. But this one appears to have an actual plot. If it stays this serious, it might turn out as something truly great.

Only dumb thing that most anime do wrong: Despite being called "demon lord", he's not really doing anything evil. The worst he did was kill. Wow. Can we please have demon lords that RAPE? But no, that would be "truly" evil, so it will never happen. BERSERK remains a rare example of what demons actually should be like.
@MyllerPhiem were those animes wrong or is it just u that don't understand it?
many recent animes depicts demon as a "race" not "monster", they thinks, loves, hates,.. have souls, and demon lords r just their kings.
it aren't those old school anime where "yeah, i kill this guy, grape that girl, eat that child, blah blah so they call me demon lord", its belong to the different gerne
maybe try to look at it from the demon race's pov

@Jigglephysic This isn't about anime or "recent" or whatever. Demons are beings from hell, they're utmost evil, it's what defines them. If you want to have friendly beings, then don't call them demons and ffs don't call their leader the "demon lord".

Words have definitions and this one is simply wrong. A demon who's worst offense is that he kills you in an honorable battle is ... not a demon.

Although I assume zoomer-weebs would start crying if they saw proper demons depicted. Hence why BERSERK is becoming more and more unpopular.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

They did a fucking holocaust to the immortals.

Now to the episode, at the very start, it felt like Maou Gakuin; it begins with the mortals (humans) vs. immortals (demons), the Hero vs. the Demon Lord; the Hero wins, the Demon Lord dies, and gets reawakened in the future. Which is fine; I just hope it won't go the same way Maou Gakuin did by making the Demon Lord a good guy. Even if Veltol doesn't turn out to be absolute evil, it will still be enjoyable if at least his ways are morally questionable.

The aether hacking girl changing the Vtuber (OMG, they have Vtubers here!) screens into porn, and her fast-paced conversation with Veltol was funny, not Konosuba-level funny, but still funny.

The Familia invention and its implementation seem to me like the what-if scenario, of what if The Incredibles villain — Syndrome, would win. Basically, this scenario of “With everyone super, no one will be”. Of course, it could go differently, but for now...

I really liked the final scene of the episode of Veltol commanding Machina for her loyalty; it's not unique by any means, but I'm fond of this kind of dynamics. The scene reminds me of the many loyalty moments between Ainz and Albedo. I guess it's partly because Hino Satoshi voices both Ainz and Veltol.

The setting seems to be the unique part of the show, which is bad for me, as I'm not big on this cyberpunk stuff (too many bright colors and dystopian stuff for me). But if it involves itself with the magic part of the world in a more balanced way, it could be intriguing.

Overall, it's promising. The characters are stereotypical, but it's only episode 1, so it's not a valid point of criticism, and I expect and hope the series will give some serious depth to Veltol and Machina. The former by having him struggle in this world, and the latter by having her show her reasoning for her loyalty to Veltol.

Veltol Velvet Velsvalt... That's a bit of a mouthful lol

Overall though, eh... That was really boring. I felt like that really dragged on even though it was only like 24 minutes. This Demon Lord is kind of underwhelming imo, which yeah I get that's the point he's supposed to be really weak in this era, but still idk it just feels boring to me.

So now what? 11 more episodes of Veltol getting stronger and taking over this ruined world? I have no idea, but idk it doesn't seem too interesting to me. Might drop this one here, might give it another episode or two, not sure. I need to think about it.

This looks fantastic. Art and animation are gorgeous. Music is spot on. The characters we've seen so far are well designed and have motivations which make sense and are compelling (the hacker rebelling against censorship, the CEO who secretly was jealous because he was always inferior). What's more, despite what some are saying, this is a fresh take on the story. Yes, it's a reincarnated demon lord, but it's the exact opposite of every other show. Unlike every other version where the demon lord is super powerful (even when the shows SAY he's reincarnated as a normal person), this time he is reincarnated into a world where he's weaker than everyone, even random nobodies off the street.

I love it. I desperately hope it doesn't fall flat, because this has potential to be one of my favorites. In the intro, we saw the hero living in an alley, I really want the Hero and Demon Lord to end up allies against a world that no longer needs them and which has become immoral and full of injustice.

Moral of the story, Vtubers survived longer than Immortal Beings. Towa is inevitable.

Really liked this start. They did a good job of showing how rigid Veltol was in his faith towards his abilities and superiority. I can't remember which anime it was, but I remember another story also had a 5-part magic invocation process. Hopefully they explore that a little even if the Familia simplifies it.

That last scene hit pretty hard. Them showing that she also used the Familia (maybe a fake?), her frustrations, and now her living situation. It's beginning to sink into Veltol, culminating in this episode with his acknowledgement of her hardships and his praise for her loyalty.

Only question I have is how do "Immortals" die if they are... immortal? Perhaps immortality refers to the lack of aging or any demon being revived? The hero seems to still be alive, so not quite sure that aging is a factor in this.

This isn't as generic as I thought it would be. The key visual and title pretty much got me hooked up already for some reason. They're quite catchy, but normal at the same time. I liked the beginning of the episode as it showcased us what kind of world Veltol lived in before and how he'll have to adapt now. Machina's also quite a likeable character, her design is quite nice aswell. That yap session from Takahashi was pretty fun as well. Seems like everything from this episode clicked for me.
Forgot about the betrayal, yeah, that had to happend for him to start at the bottom for real.

Man i loved the art and animation, didn't expect them to put so much effort on another " reverse isekai " , i hope they keep it up and not only go downhill from here.
Story wise it's same ol' same ol', but with a twist! it's a cyberpunk world instead!! , and now the Demon lord that once was so powerful finds out that he's weak and everyone can use magic faster than him with a single technology. sounds interesting so far so im excited where they take it from here. i have a little bit of faith in this anime so i hope they don't ruin it. again!

The world sounded interesting, and after the first episode I'm still on board for now.

It was strange (in a good way) to get hit with that visual of a demon lord in magic armor staring up at the neon skyscrapers and billboards. The actual world seems to have the typical Blade Runner/Cyberpunk 2077 look, and it was disappointing that magic just seems to be lightly sprinkled on top of that.

I'm more skeptical about the story, with none of the characters standing out and a whole lot of info-dump through constant talking. I really hope they don't just take the usual "demon lord comeback power fantasy" route, going "but it's different this time cuz it's hacking, not magic."

The closest series this reminds me of is either Cop Craft or, for more of a throwback, Hyper Police.

Reverse isekai always have a lot of potential to do some very adventurous and extraordinary things, and the addition of being in a realized Sci-Fi setting on top of that (as opposed to the only Sci-Fi element being like one key piece of technology or the explanation between how a portal was opened to another universe or our world fused with part or all of another universe in the first place being nominally science-based) creates even more potential. But let's see how well-utilized and explored the actual Sci-Fi backdrop is used or if both it and the fantasy and magic are just decorative paint.

With a simple and mostly unoriginal yet exciting due to switcheroo factor premise it'd be a shame if setting, plot, and characters all don't really go anywhere and get squandered, which I could also easily see happening. A show like this can even have a weak to non-existent plot if the characters are great (not even in and of themselves at the start, but in terms of like chemistry together and/or if they get interesting development along the way) or even a weak plot and characters both if they explore the fuck out of every nook and cranny of the setting, but not weak all three.

That said though just in concept and visually this was one of the more impressive first episodes among all the seasonals I started watching. And kind of one I decided to throw on the pile of ones to try last minute. But still one I feel like I'll definitely have to watch the second or even third episode before coming to a decision on whether to add to my list and continue with or not.

I am very impressed with the first episode of this story. Animation and art were 4/5. A huge amount of setup was done quickly and clearly with visuals and Machina's briefing of her reborn king.
Then we meet the modern hacker girl who, I'm sure, will be important later. And we are off to the confrontation with Marcus. Demonstrating how weak Black Velvet is in the magi-tech world. Even street thugs can beat the former maou. Machina returns and takes him to her one room apartment completing the demon king's descent from tyrant to zero.
If they can keep this up, it's going to be helluva' ride.

The demon lord has reincarnated into cyberpunk 2077, now i want to watch bladerunner again gg...

Seeing a vutber show up in this anime is unexpected but ig it just goes to show how far that industry has gone.

Marcus (CEO) really deserves a medal for holding onto a grudge for 500 years. Resentment like that is hard to come by. Also The demon lord being 2 steps slower, which just sounded like some random insult at first. Then in the ad he explained the 5 steps of using magic. So it's actually just a fact.

I've been keeping tabs on this anime for a while now and finally decided to comment on it after watching episode 2.

I really like Veltol as a character is great. He definitely has kingly qualities to him. He cares about his subjects (at least machina) and quickly realizes that he is not the demon lord he once was. I would definitely serve a king like Veltol if I was in this animes world.
