So Akira had a plan after all.

Still, a lot of close calls this episode and it felt like every wrong move would've resulted in a tragedy. A very thriling episode imo and this turned out to be a much more complicated mission than anticipated. Whatever the case, Akira has iron balls to carry this plan.

God, Akira is such a badass. Dude EFFORTLESSLY shot both of them at THE SAME FUCKING TIME. As if that wasn't epic enough, seeing Usutubo die after so long was EVEN MOREEE EPIC.

Glad everything ended well in the end, with Hina moving on and stepping forward (figuratively and literally lol), and Akira becoming more sentimental lol.

Back to the bathtub it is though lolol. As much as a okay adaption this has been, I'm not ready for it not end next week.

It's not even a competition for Fable, the real test is Hina vs Landmine, and Hina pass with flying colors.

Fable kicked so much ass here. Shot Dio and Utsubo, turned Dio against Utsubo, and saved Hinako with a back full of shrapnel. Hinako is finally free of Utsubo and can escape the criminal lifestyle, as well as enjoy her newfound mobility. Utsubo on the other hand gets to enjoy a dirt nap, just like the "chicken" he was introduced with.

This arc brought a lot to the table. Devious villains, a good balance of action and scheming, and a whole new side of Youko. I am really gonna miss this. One more episode.

Anyone know why Suzuki had a sudden change of heart? I know he yelled out at the end of last episode to prevent Hina from setting off the mine, but I thought that was because he didn't want it to be wasted.

The whole plan was to use Hina as bait, so if Suzuki wasn't willing to kill her off, I have to call him a hypocrite for questioning Utsubo's resolve when he himself didn't have the solve to fully pull through on his end. Were there any details to his character that I missed earlier on that foreshadow this event?

Otherwise, a pretty good episode. I like how they used the excavator that they would've used on Sato to save Hina, so it wasn't an asspull. And I always like it when a show uses recurrent themes like "smarts and innovation" in this case. I also liked the irony of Suzuki falling for the grenade bait that he used on Yoko last episode. Of course, that ending with Hina standing to hug Sato was very touching, the way Sato looked at the side-mirror of the car made me think we would comment on how sad it is.

Akira coming in clutch for Hinako, and once he's there, he's basically got everything sorted out. Even with Suzuki, they've managed to turn the tide, but they're not out of the woods yet with Hinako's one leg on an old landmine, which has existed for decades from the Cold War, and could still blow up. Improvise and adapt they will, to save Hinako, and Akira being grateful that he saved her 4 years ago, he's going to do it again, and while he did the deed to save her leg, he did get some damage from the shrapnel. Even at the final moments, Utsubo did the villain act by enticing Suzuki to shoot him, which he did and thus, ends the whole fiasco.

The problem is thereafter to hide the lies from the police, and everything gets sorted out like it should. Moreover, it's Hinako's salvation that matters the most as Akira just did what he's supposed to do: get her on her two feet. With that, the Sato siblings make their leave, never to see them again. All that's left to do...is his actual work for Christmas.

Bro becoming sentimental, Akira has come a long way. I'm not ready to see this end next week...

@Quadruple_Oi I think killing off Hina was only Utsubo's idea - he treated them all as expendable. Suzuki isn't a bad man in the heart, much like Sato.

@Necrius

This is a pretty important plot point, so I don't wanna call it bs without actually looking at it carefully. So I 2x skim-watched the past 3 episodes again and this is what I found:
  • Utsubo brought up the idea of using Hina as leverage for the basis of the plan and Suzuki goes along with it
  • The first one to speak out when Hina stepped on the landmine was Suzuki, which meant that he was aware of the landmine being placed there (It wasn't Utsubo's secret)
  • The landmine was apparently powerful enough to blow away Hina's legs, but she would still survive. So if Fable was the one that triggered it while Hina is in her wheelchair, then it would be highly unlikely for Hina to die.
So based off this, you could argue that Suzuki was willing to put Hina in danger, but he wasn't willing to let her die because he's only willing to involve actually terrible people like Kainuma, but he doesn't want to involve the innocents (similar mentality to Ebihara who is also yakuza). But I still have my doubts, because they did blow up that apartment, and the risk of Hina dying in this plan was already way too high.

The best excuse I can come up with is that he started to grow attached to Hina, and then learning that Utsubo killed Hina's parents earned her more pity from him. Anyways, I won't get hung up too much on the details beyond this, since the rest is really good.

What a beautiful episode.
I also thought this would have been the last episode, but that isn't the case. An unforeseen blessing.

I remember I only picked this series up, because the hairdresser that I went to, when I was still living in Japan, had some free manga to read in a shelf.
And one of them was Fable.

By chance and by trying to change myself into trying new stuff, I stumbled upon a gem.

Awesome.

He said so himself he never trusted him. Plus he does kinda seem to legitimately sees Hina like a sister so he has a warm spot for her.

Youko's face looked so off-model this episode...

Pretty good conclusion for this arc. Not to mention surprisingly wholesome with the way how Fable took care of Hina when dealing with the landmine. For someone who wears a deadpan expression 24/7, he sure has shown a lot of emotional growth throughout this arc.

One more episode left.

Kinda disappointed with the arc conclusion. Suzuki knew Utsubo had killed her parents. For a "pro killer", it's just weird to set up a trap with Hina right next to the explosion, and then change his mind when Hina is on the mine. He didn't even really need any convincing

The development where Satou's superhuman speed resolved the issue was really cool. I'm not sure about the reason for Suzuki's change of heart, but it seems like he had some attachment to Hinako in his own way. The animation quality was good, but the consistency of the artwork wasn't very stable.

Bro, that’s exactly what's bugging me after this episode. He was part of the plan the whole time, but now he's acting like the good guy—it’s total BS. I was really enjoying the anime, but I can’t ignore this now... The only explanation I can think of is that he realized he couldn’t beat Fable, so as a pro, he switched tactics to avoid getting himself killed. but really I don't believe it was the case
