I love how my man Aqua has harnessed his suffering to act spectacularly.

Kana's jealous look as Aqua was carrying Akane was so cute.

Both Kana and Akane felt that their performance needs improvement and that the other is better. This is competition, which induces people to improve.

Aqua found his half brother so it's possible the director is the father. Or a plot twist that this half-brother is adopted.

Okay that was unexpected, one thing highly possible that their talent came from their father (is an actor) from Lalalai? and a playboy pos.

What a cliffhanger! At first, I thought Aqua had actually found his father with how he was acting, but then it’s revealed that he has a half brother! The ending of the play was magnificent as well! I can’t wait to see where this story goes! (9.5/10)

First half - finally horrible theatre arc is over (although the part with Ai was nice...)
But I hate how Aqua's character developement is never going anywhere - he basically oscillates between black eye and light eye persona all the time. One step forward two steps back.

Second half - finally something unexpected. Will Aqua ever tell Ruby she has new brother now?

Let's hope the next arc is more interesting then whole second season up to this point then.

Yes! Finally we’re back to the core plot. Real good episode. Very entertaining from start to finish.
Kana can be so annoying at times. Her crush on Aqua is getting old.

This is one of the best fucking anime episodes ever made. Everything from the story progression, animation, voice acting and production to the musical arrangement and the gorgeous visuals took my breath away.

When did Doga Kobo become capable of creating such peak fiction?!!!

This chapter has what I expected most from this arc, being the success of the Tokyo Blade play and how Aqua shows an uninhibited performance, along with the revelation in the final scene that the DNA test reveals to us.

Aka Akasaka did it again, OSHI NO GOOOD

I can't wait to see what's left of this second season animated, the anime and manga are on fire!

God, I knew that scene would hit me so hard, like when a loved one comes back after being gone. I'm crying and I feel pretty pathetic right now.
It's nice to see Ai Hoshino again, but not like this. 😭

Aqua using his trauma, that's emotional acting for you. You can truly sense his pain and suffering as Touki, especially after losing Princess Saya. Then, when Princess Saya returns, it's just like Aqua's reaction when he sees his mother come back to life, combined with the belief that dreams may not come true. It's pain. The journey ahead for Aqua looks tough, but we can only hope he manages to keep moving forward.
This arc is fantastic from beginning to end, the storytelling, animation, and voice acting all deserve a perfect 10 out of 10.

Now that the Tokyo Blade, one of the best arcs ever, has finally ended, the next arc is for those who kept watching just for the revenge plot. I'm curious to see how Studio Doga Kobo will cook these upcoming arcs, as things have been... pretty interesting so far.
I'm excited for Ruby tho.

Thanks for the meal.

Does the revenge plot start next episode? I’ve been watching for it but have enjoyed this season.

Never was a fan of the mystery side of the series so the revelation at the end felt too corny for my liking. The acting and showcase of it was heavy-handed like the manga, but still well adapted I would say and looks very good from Doga Kobo's side. Was I emotionally that invested? Not really, lot of it feels way too over-the-top for me. But not a bad episode.

@Centago In S1,we know that aqua does dna test to see if someone is related to him or not in the industry.
And he is in this theatre to find someone who is related to him,so obviously it is 100% feasible.

I forgot how beautiful oshi no ko visuals are there so perfect, But I am a lil mad how they showed the best part of the arc. They really drew a frame and did a zoom up, I can't believe im saying this since the adaptation is much better than the manga, but this time the manga was better. Other than that it was a fun episode, No episode next week is sad tho....

@Rexas420 Oh, gosh! Thank you for reminding me.
I got distracted and completely forgot that Aqua had been gathering people's dna samples ever since he approached Masaya Kaburagi.

Of course Aqua isn't losing sight of his real objective, and it looks like it got a lead.

When I heard the OST, I knew it was from the tragic moment. It was sad to see Aqua crying of joy, looking at her, alive. I guess miracles won't happen in real world. We just face reality and move on.

@Rexas420 Except he was going for his father, not for some random young actor.
There was literally no reason given by the story for him to have Himekawa checked too, the only reason was author's attempt to shock his audience.
Or are we meant to believe that Aqua is gathering DNA from all people around him constantly? Did he checked Akane for example?
inb4 everyone are brothers and sisters...

@camghost10 Except we already know who the killer was since the very first episode, guess you probably wasn't paying much attention.
Also, be prepared to be disappointed, it's obvious he knows nothing about his father other than few details from before the children home.
But he may tell him something about his mother instead.

People fail to realize that while the mystery part of this anime is about the revenge, when Aqua gets there and finds out the truth he will get disenchanted for sure.
It's not like Aqua's father ordered Ai's death as Aqua blindly believes, that one is pretty clear.
And knowing Ai, they were probably in love with each other too with no ill-blood between them.
Wouldn't be surprised if their father actually supported them all along and everything was just sad coincidence in the end.

Also, good mystery stories introudces villain very early and let him interact with MC all along.
How do you think Aqua would act if we learn Gotonda is his father after all? Would be pretty ironic, right?

The complaint I wrote in the thread for episode #08 (the lack of stage depth) was mostly resolved. Much better about it.

During this arc, some have derided "Ruby as a supporting character".
This is not only due to the structure of the animation.

Even Aqua, who is sensitive to the surrounding relationships, is missing Ruby from his perspective and consciousness.
He has been believing that the revenge is a clandestine confrontation between only him and the mastermind who is responsible for Ai's pregnancy and death.
The composition of his perception begins disintegrating. Unbeknownst to him, Akane and Gotanda already have some insight into his intentions.

The storytellers had set up a staged misdirection to draw the viewer's attention to prominent figures like Kana and Akane, to incite the viewer's "My Girl" controversy, and divert attention from Ruby. This is one of the reasons why the entire “Tokyo Blade” arc was needed.
For those who were only interested in the revenge drama, it's a shame they didn't fully enjoy these narrative structures.

And another incredible episode. Aqua’s acting was incredible, love all the little details of everybody’s reaction of the show and stuff like the Author talking to the Sweet Today Guy, Kana being drunk of ginger ale, Kana’s reaction to Aqua carrying Akane, the beautiful animation as always and seeing Ai again was amazing. It was a flashback but still. Right now I really hope that she’ll actually return like in the Opening. And the reveal of Himekawa and Aqua being related was really shocking to me. Really hyped for the next episode.
