Even though this episode takes place in a Summer Vacation time period, it's still very moody rather than lighthearted fun.

The last name calling was also addressed. We also got to learn more about Saki and her past too. With each episode, they really want us to learn more about her than ever.

“Dear diary, sorry for sounding so stupidly dramatic and spamming Asamura-kun every next line, but that is just how my character is written. I know it was me who insisted on being strangers and was talking pseudo realism about how my relationship with you-know-who should be, but somehow.. someway, I’ve started to develop something within me for again, you-know-who, just because I’ve seen him hanging out with a girl who has far more personality than I could ever have and someone who doesn’t ask him to buy her body. Yeah, so that’s why I’d work in that bookstore as well… to keep an eye on those two.”

Seriously lol, what happened with working a high paid job, and why this roundabout way when in the end the author was going to write her working with the main guy itself. Also god, these LONG pauses between the conversations feel so fucking awkward. If they were aiming to make this seem even remotely realistic, they should've realized this by now and stopped, except they didn’t.

Viewing the world from Saki's perspective, seems like she still has a lot to work out with her feelings.
At least she is realising something needs to be done and she is trying.
The characters are getting close but they still can't address each other by their given names making me wonder if that will ever happen.
At least their parents aren't forcing them to do it and they seem pretty open about it.

Damn, half the episode was dedicated to Saki experiences, told in her diary. I don't mind those and the show was always slow paced but was starting to worry when it'd be done.

We learned that Saki used to be more expressive as a kid, yeah she changed probably to make things less harder for her mother.

Yuuta saying no to going to the pool is unsurprising, but hopefully they'll still go, can't always work and Saki mother did say Saki hates the heat, pool sounds very nice then.

I have to say that this is the anime that is surprising me more this season. I love the visuals and how the story is progressing, i thought this would be generic as hell and not at all!

Pretty weak season btw

Another awesome episode. This time from Saki’s perspective. I love the saki diary scenes so much. They’re so intimate and the job her seiyuu does is excellent. The art style and aspect ratio make it feel like we’re actually in Saki’s mind hearing her deepest and most treasured secrets. Ones she could never share with anyone else.

Watching Saki slowly coming to terms with how she feels about Yuta, or at least that she’s jealous of his relationship with Shiori was such a tender moment. She knows she shouldn’t be, but can’t help it anyway. Her staying up all night at the kitchen table to be the first person to welcome him home was so sweet.

So far so good with her job at the bookstore. She’s learning really quickly and seems to be getting on well with everyone. I wonder how long until she and Shiori have a chat. Especially if Yuta keeps praising Shiori on these walks home lol.

Saki’s mom talking about Saki not being able to handle the heat is actually a nice double entendre for the literal heat, but also the heat of her mounting feelings towards Yuta and the jealousy she feels.

Eventually it’s going to have to come to a boil.. can’t wait for the next episode

A recap of things from Saki's pov as she comes to terms with her own feelings. She's already settled in pretty well at their workplace too.

Clever directing with minimal budget continues, reusing same scenes and still shots. They added a scene with them going home by the side of a clothing store and already reused it in the episode lol.

Yeah was not feeling this much for the last few episodes but this episode was pretty nice.

One word to describe Saki's feelings right now is Jealousy.

After some more recaps from Saki's diary, Saki starts working at the bookstore with Yuuta. Saki's feeling that she finds disgusting is jealousy. So on what basis could Saki be jealous?

Maybe a more definitive answer will come next, so we'll wait for that.

Yeah I figured the negative word that Saki was feeling is jealousy as I sensed that when Yuta talked about his female coworker in a previous episode which eventually led to Saki showing up to the bookstore and applying to work there. Side note, if Saki would've said a positive word she's feeling I would've guessed love and on that note I think she liked that he was worried about her when they met in the elevator in the last episode.

Anyway, not sure what to make of the conversation regarding the pool as I thought Saki would've gone unless she quickly changed her mind when Yuta said he wasn't going or maybe Saki didn't like that Maaya invited Yuta, who knows. Also, I liked the episode except for Saki's somewhat long monologue since it took time away from the present time but that was still well done though.

I was disappointed they didn't show Ayase's diary last week, but this episode more than made up for it. The diary section took half of this episode, which was nice.

Yes, she confirmed it herself that she's jealous.

I got to say I really enjoyed this episode. This episode addresses something that most light novel’s adaptations fail at and that is telling the audience what the inner monologues and thoughts the characters may be experiencing or thinking I think this anime does it really well and it’s refreshing not having the need to guess or ready the source material to figure out what the characters are feeling. Great story so far.

That sure was a long diary intro, not sure it was necessary though, kinda felt like filler.

It was already obvious from the previous episodes that she liked him and felt left out, even jealous, of his relationship with his female coworker.

I also wondered why she didn't question him about why he didn't tell her about the job opportunity at his work, because he said he couldn't find anything for her.

That would have been an interesting discussion...

Her: "How come you didn't tell me they were looking for workers at your bookstore?"

Him: "I didn't think you'd be interested."

Her: "Perhaps you don't want me to work where you do?"

Him: "No, that's not it..."

Her: "Maybe it's because of your female coworker? Do you like her?"

Him: He can explain their relationship

Probably cos its not the "high paying, easy job" she asked him to look for. She even admitted in her diary, that she has now changed focus to the slow and steady type of job, which is why she applied.

Not surprised some didn’t like that nearly half the episode was dedicated to Saki’s diary entries, especially since it was stylistically like an old movie with the film grain and aspect ratio, but I liked it a lot myself, it was an interesting way to show the inner thoughts of a character and it really helped make sense of Saki’s decisions in the previous episode. And to sum it all up like Saki says at the end of the episode, she’s jealous of Shiori and wants to see her relationship with Yuuta firsthand, gonna be a little hard to do while she’s trying to do a good job at the same time but it looks like she’s managing so far, I also really like her ponytail look for work.

And although it was a short scene, I liked the whole Fall/Summer exchange between Yuuta and Saki, little things like stores changing their displays is a good tell that the time of the year is changing, I don’t think I’d notice what Saki was talking about but I can say it’s hard not to notice when stores have Halloween candy out already which I saw just today lol, I love it at the same time tho, I live for the fall after all lol. And I thought we might be in for a short pool bit at the end of the episode but looks like that might be happening next episode, Maaya is gonna have to drag these two out tho because neither sound that interested in going lol, but personally I’m interested in seeing how this show handles a pool episode, I’m expecting some immaculate vibes with the zoomed out shots like we’ve been getting with the rest of the show paired with the usual swimsuit goodness.

I don’t know why she’s so jealous, he isn’t romantically interested in Senpai or dating her. What would she do if he developed an actual interest in someone?

Plus she didn’t tell him about the pool party. Was that to keep him from getting together with her friend and/or other girls?

She’s become really possessive. I guess I’m stating the obvious.

I hope she doesn’t turn tsundere. I mean, this isn’t a comedy, but I suppose it could happen.

With the nature of the episode's initial 11 minutes, I can't blame some viewers feeling that we got a glorified recap during the episode's first half. Having said all that, here are my random thoughts for the rest of the episode:

- "The way people stress over not understanding each other makes no sense to me." Interesting Saki feels like this. Not being able to completely understand someone else isn't too big of a deal for her.

- We get confirmation of what has been not so subtly alluded to for the past few episodes: Saki is having negative feelings towards Shiori. And she hates herself for feeling that way.

- "The kind of name that loves books, is loved by books, and is bound to be loved by other people who love books." Calling all bookworms like Mizuto Irido. Shiori might be your new best friend.

- "But she seems so mature." Clearly, Saki has yet to witness Shiori's childish side in full force.

- "Maybe it'd be worth it to do things slow and steady." Feels like Saki is trying to rationalize why she wants to work at the same bookstore as Yuuta. Surely that bookstore isn't the only place in town that offers "slow and steady" work, right?

- So Maaya was indeed filming the stepsiblings in Episode 6. Glad we got to see at least bits of the video she took during her last visit to the stepsiblings' apartment.

- I didn't expect that Saki going home late in Episode 6 was actually caused by her practicing for a work interview at a karaoke bar. Her deliberately ignoring Yuuta's messages was also an eye-opener.

- "There are parts of [Yuuta's] relationship with [Shiori] I don't know. If I can at least get an idea of what those are, maybe this gross, anxious feeling will let up a little." Finally, Saki is being more honest to herself.

- After Saki's diary entry, we finally see the episode title at its halfway point. The last time I saw this kind of episode title drop for an anime was with Eighty-Six.

- The suggestion for "Yuuta Onisan" gets torpedoed at breakfast.

- "I don't like hanging out with people I'm not that close to, either." You and me both, Yuuta. Some introverted bookworms value our emo loner time. 🙃

- One pleasant surprise I got was that Saki's workplace appearance would noticeably be different from her usual looks. Her new hairstyle really suits her. I really dig it. If you ask me, Saki with a ponytail helps make her more distinct from the likes of somewhat similar looking heroines such as Marin Kitagawa or Runa Shirakawa.

- Yuuta being uninterested with fashion trends felt very relatable.

- Kid Saki throwing a tantrum for ice cream looked kind of cute.

- Now that it has been brought up, I wonder how long will it be until we have a pool episode.... 🤔

- In case that some viewers haven't gotten it yet, Saki confirms that her unpleasant feelings as of late is caused by none other than jealousy.

- So the next episode is going to be a flashback into Saki's past? Cool. I'm eager to find out what cause the change in Saki's demeanor to what it is right now.

We get more of Ayase's diary POV, which I like. The directing, cinematography, and music are very soothing and relaxing. It was obvious from the first few minutes that the word Ayase was looking for was "jealousy". It's understandable that Ayase didn't want to tell Yuuta about her applying to the bookstore cause she would be embarrassed if she didn't pass the interview, though tbh her saying that she knew Yuuta in the interview probably would've pretty much given her a guaranteed job offer since he could vouch for her school studying ethic and behavior. But yeah can't blame her, I probably would've done the same.
Anyways, I guess we're gonna have a pool episode sooner or later...Ayase doesn't seem like the type of person who wouldn't tell Yuuta about the invite simply due to jealousy, so hope it doesn't have anything to do with that. I'm guessing it's either because she didn't get the chance to ask him, or she thought that he wouldn't want to go anyways so she didn't want to ask him and get rejected. Ngl the way they talk to one another feels realistic at times, but at other times it feels so awkward and stilted lol.

@ejleon To be honest I actually like the diary entries. Romance shows tend to be one sided, either from the male or female perspective. You never get to see how the other side thinks or feels. So to me the romance always look one sided, to the point that the MC is kinda forcing there feelings on to there love interest.

@Moppit

There are 7 chapters in each light novel volume corresponding to each day of the week and corresponding dates (which is what you also see in the anime), and the diary entries are the short epilogues ending a light novel volume.

I never expected Studio DEEN to put these diary entries in the anime, much less make it epic with the newsreel-like, old movie effect.

jealousy, is a word that describes the feelings that plagued Saki all this time, and also Saki's ponytail looks very beautiful.

I really like the diary part for Saki really makes the audience can see how Saki feels all this time and gives an explanation of how and why Saki chose the same job as Yuuta.

@RafaBryan perhaps she's jealous of Yuta's and Shiori's relationship despite Yuta saying she's nothing more than a senior friend to him. Maybe that's why she suddenly decided to work in the bookstore so she can get a better understanding of their relationship.
