I think Anna might be bearing too much responsibility on herself. That could've been planned better but luckily, she's got friends and supporters.

Glad to see the squad keeping their cheerleading energy alive though. They all looks so united almost like a family.

More Engrish, hehe.

Another interesting Anna episode. Too bad she's putting too much pressure on herself, but I understand how she feels about the situation.

I'm glad they were able to save Stout Records after all. Good job, everyone! We even got to see some cheerleading. It was about time. This show is actually quite different compared to Animal Yell, even though they share the same main theme.

By the way, I'm quite impressed by Anna's martial art skills. Wow.

I thought this was supposed to be an anime about competitive cheerleading ...

But now those pesky Japanese people dont want to listen to the foreign music, so the shop is going bankrupt ... but we gonna use the power of cheer to make those pesky Japanese people listen to our music.

That'll show them, those ignorant stuck in their ways Japanese people.

A cheerleading stint for Anna's music shop at the Takasaki Central Ginza music carnival that's closing down a week from now, the girls are really thinking long and hard about what they want to do, especially for Nodoka helping a fellow best friend out. Certainly, Stout Records is a place where strangers meet and greet through music, and no one other than Anna is suffering a tragic loss for that regard. And what the girls came up with, is a Bon dance without the music, which Anna fills them in after Nodoka pulls all-nighters just for this.

Even with a promo video that gains little attention, the 5 girls try their darndest, and the store attracts music celebrities of all kinds for people to wander into the shop and get the last of its material. When it's all said and done, it was a resounding success with records being sold to new customers, and the music shop still having a lingering presence for time to come, adding a café on the ground floor.

All's well that ends well for Stout Records, Anna's second home still lives on.

Best episode by far for me. Anna is best girl and I’m so happy they were able to not only save stout records, but make it better than ever. I hated seeing her so down and out last episode. And we got our first proper live performance from the girls which looked amazing!

Like they said earlier in the ep, stout records is a place where people who never would’ve met could come together and make memories and bond over music. People from so many different walks of life were able to find common ground there and it would be a shame to lose it.

Loved the build up to the festival with the girls doing yoga and preparing for the cheer routine. But why did they snap so hard on Anna’s training routine lmao so random

You know shit was serious when Obunai calls you by your first name. Even she was determined to get Anna to write a song for the cheer number and it turned out so good. Really incorporated a lot of Brazilian flair which was fitting for a carnival celebration.

Diversifying the stout records’ business was really a no brainer and I’m surprised they didn’t have a digital storefront already. Now people from around the country and world can buy from there and with big names like Mia and Mike having shopped there it’ll have name recognition! Adding a cafe is great too. Just do NOT let Shion ever plan out a menu for a cafe again 😭

Great ep

Anna going all out on that training dummy in order to vent her anger was impressively done, I must say. Despite that, it wasn't enough to put a smile back on her face. Thankfully, Nodoka and the others put in a lot of effort in getting a routine that would give Anna the spark she needed to get her enthusiasm back in time for the shopping arcade carnival.

Their performance was pretty good and upbeat, but what really helped the store was the famous faces who returned all at once and it didn't take long for word of mouth, both in person and on socials, to spread the word and made the shop busy towards bursting once again.

Overall, not only was the girls' dancing very enjoyable to watch, but Stout Records will stay open, but more importantly, it will modernise to keep with the times in having an online store as well as a cafe on the lower floor. I did enjoy seeing the girls all talking about what food they would like to see on the menu. It almost made me hungry! XD

You thought wrong becuase this work was never advertised as a competitive cheerleading anime (and I guess that a small circle of six friends from different schools wouldn't be able to compete in any proper tourneys anyway).
Also, Stout Records wasn't closing down because of financial reasons (they clearly had enough fanatical patrons to keep the shop in the black), it was closing down because the shop owner thought that his large collection of obscure world music would be more appreciated if it was transferred to a larger and more well known shop in Tokyo.

Forgot how exactly? Because right before the two episodes forcues on Anna's story there was an episode that was half about Suzuha's cheerleading past and half about Kanata's current yips troubles that prevent her from doing any sort of official club activity.

The description of this anime does not do it justice, there is so much more going on in the show, which makes it an interesting watch.

Sad that this makes it sound one dimensional, when there a many topics covered.

I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Well, it was another OK episode.
I don't know, I just feel like the flow of the anime isn't really good, and makes the scenes not be as impactful as they could be.
It was good to see the girls get together to cheer for the store, but the reality was that it was the famous friends of Anna that made the store achieve more sales. Now this question needs to be made: why didn't they use their fame to promote the store sooner? I know that Mike tried it, but they went to the wrong store, but still, Mia was just there last episode and no one really cared, and now the shop is full of people. I felt that was a big stretch, but anyways, it's more realistic that the girls out of nowhere going viral.
My fear became true, and Kanata really came over her condition in one episode. Like, she couldn't do cheering for months I suppose, and in one afternoon they resolved all their problems. Another thing that still bothers me in this anime was how this cast came all together, and how it seems they don't have any friends before that, their relationship seems a bit artificial to me, because they really started hanging out for no reason really.
But I do have to say that the dancing this episode didn't seem as off as in episodes 1 and 3, I don't know if they used less CGI or if they are hiding it better, but there were also more close ups in this dance, that were not CGI, so I think that might have helped too. Still, it's still a bit underwhelming the whole dance sequence, anf I think it's mainly a problem with the direction of the scenes.
Overall, I feel like the anime could have been doing more with the relationship of the girls, there are many parts that I just feel like they're boring to watch, and there's no real evolution from the characters. The only exception has been Anna, that is by far the most charismatic and the one that has had this mini-arc around her, that made her stand out even more. But they could have been doing much more with this anime, we're almost half-way in, and there hasn't been really a stand-out part of the story.

Edit:

I feel like that was because Nodoka fell asleep, so it was like she was going to bed at night, you know?

Well, Stout Records was saved, but honestly, their efforts to keep the store open with their dance were futile. I'm not saying it wasn't a success at the venue, but what really helped were the famous music stars visiting the store and it going viral on the internet, and also them convincing the owner. Nevertheless, I appreciate that everyone encouraged Anna not to give up since she was bearing too much responsibility on her own.

I'm glad that Stout Records got saved, but their dance routine felt meh. It helped a bit, but it was saved by 1) Anna's viral video, 2) Anna's friends coming.

I hope from this point on, they get to practice their cheer for serious competition. The pacing is slow and it seems to assume that the story would get two cours to develop. A single cour doesn't seem enough.

Bro, I confess, I just cried a little bit with this episode… the girls was so determined to help Anna-chan, they worked so hard on the dance and Carnaval, and Anna-chan love for her friends was so heartwarming!

There is only 5 episodes until now and I just cried, I’m loving this anime! 🥰

Not necessarily.

I've gotten used to the kind of loose way the plot of this one is handled and different characters' issues are delved into or put on the backburner seemingly at "random" or with little sense - it just seems like a Slice of Life in no rush to go anywhere despite dramatic flashbacks suggesting a heavier plot in waiting - but I largely agree with the gist of your other criticisms in that something which is hard to identify as one thing (and it could be numerous factors) does make this one a little underwhelming and less impactful than it otherwise could be.

But regarding Kanata's illness specifically, it may not be a linear trajectory of recovery. Remember that prior to her freakout during the tryouts she performed what was in many ways an even more difficult and much more daring and dangerous stunt in the city streets when she leapt over cars and "flew". Then an episode or two later, whenever it was, she couldn't handle a more textbook stunt she would have probably practiced performing many times before even in a safe controlled environment like the school gymnasium.

Maybe it is key triggers which bring out her psychological state in those instances, like being expected to perform as part of a much larger team or in the presence of people she doesn't trust or is afraid of letting down or endangering the safety of. Like that older girl Hana. Maybe she'll be fine for several more episodes in a row and then it will only resurface when she is expected to perform at a certain moment in a certain context toward the end of the season/series.

There isn't any real reason why it has to be resolved yet or not. It can go either way.

Lol all the awkward English. They pronounce words fairly well just the VAs havent learned English is more uneven breathy which is where the uncanny sound comes from.

Heh the little comment how YJ should be JY was amusing.

Was a cute episode though i liked how excited everyone was for the record store to not be shut down. I dont know why YJ didnt originally consider just relocating though if it was that bad a location.

This show needs more cheerleading or acrobatics at least.

Dead Carnival? Carnival of the dead? How to make an unexciting dance performance(with example)?
I mean, they've even inserted "meanwhile in a shop" sequence and that sequence was more fun than generic anisong and 3D choreography.
How about Latino banger, close ups, camera rolls, audience rolls and shots? No budget, I guess.

The store is saved and all ended well. Everything worked out too well, but hey it's fiction; if we added logic into everything, it would make our lives dull.

Didn't expect to like the insert song as much as I did. Looks like Kanata was finally able to pull off that one stunt she kept failing at.

Pacing is a little too fast, though. Anyone else feel that? This feels like it should have been the 3-part finale, not a two parter halfway through the show. It's like they had an idea for two stories and forced them both into a twelve episode anime; there just isn't enough time to let everything sink in.

We got the hot springs next; let's see how many wardrobe malfunction jokes they can cram into 20 minutes of animation.
