@Alfredo-Sauce we have a whole seven episodes to get there. I was actually invested in his character arc so this episode made me extremely happy. Don’t get me wrong. I love a lot of the characters in this show, but it’s OK to focus on one at a time. The story is not in a rush and that’s OK. I would rather them take their time than them rush it and give us a shit story.
@ImaPandaFox
That's true and I usually feel the same way regarding not rushing for worldbuilding and character development but with this season "only" having 13 episodes instead of say 2 cours or around 24 episodes I don't think the storyline will progress as far as it could, and I didn't think that Melt was that relevant (anime only here) so I figured dedicating a half episode to him would've been enough but maybe he'll play a bigger role down the road.

On a side note I hope that this eventually gets a full anime adaptation even if it ends up taking a few years.

That was the best episode so far ;]
I didn't expect the stage play to take more than 1 episode and that it will cover side characters so much, but it is better that way. Melt move with picking up the sword from the ground was crazy, it would not be possible in real life ;d

Then I wonder why there were no minor characters fighting like on second plan or something.. do they even act at all ?:D

In the opening and characters introduction Aqua did the worst while everyone did great entrace pose.

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

I had goosebumps watching this episode! I'm in awe of the animation team who did the sakuga scenes...absolutely brilliant in capturing that moment of sheer will and passion and seeing your life flash before your eyes and how that moment changes you when you put your all into doing something! They really captured what it's like to be an artist/actor/creator/ whatever you wanna call it, so perfectly in that one moment!!!

Wow, this episode just blew my expectations out of the water.

I, like many, absolutely loved Melt's character development and his character in general after this part of the story in the manga. I thought the character was so well written and fleshed out and was happy with how it's drawn. Then Doga Kobo came in and said, hold my budget, and proceeds to demonstrate what greatness an anime adaptation can achieve, making an epic scene reach one step further further beyond, anime style. Wow.

Since the popularity and success of the first season, the second season is usually not talked about as much and the viewers tend to compare everything to the previous season quite critically. But I'm happy that this episode was able to make the second season stand its ground, proving it's living up to the hype of season 1. Absolute cinema.

I remember reading this chapter in the manga, and it was incredible, I love how aka explores all the different characters to a certain level where we can understand them and know why they are the way they are, Melt was a character I knew after the first season was going to come back, since the other actors from sweet today weren't ever named, and considering how amazing this episode was, I'm glad he's still around, this episode is by far the best episode of season 2 so far and god that move was so badass, I'm glad that they made the move more complicated in the anime, compared to the manga which was him just throwing up and catching the sword, with the crazy shit he did in the anime followed by the amazing visuals and performance from melt, it was more understandable why everyone was so shocked, took an amazing chapter and made it a masterpiece of a 1 minute sequence, really good stuff Doga Kobo!

@spartan112g That's how I felt too. Unless of course said character is going to be important to the story going forward. I very much feel like this current arc is 'stuff that happens to Aqua while he's getting into showbiz' trying to find the culprit of Ai's death. But people in this thread are raving and cannot contain their excitement so I'm guessing maybe some of these side characters are important?

I was expecting duel between Akane's and Kana's acting, but unfortunately there's not in this episode.

But this episode was actually good, whole episode is showed about Melt development, and he manage to show his amazing side of his acting.

Also idk if theater shows in real life is look like on anime or no. But everyone that who worked on this project is amazing to represent that theater show on this episode.

I can't wait for next episode!

Another great episode with some interesting perspective shots. We also got that little intro they did from episode 1 too. Showing another story within a story like this is sure something.

They really went all out for Melt this ep, got the cool visual stuff going on lol. Now I wonder how it'll go for the others.

Never ending plan to watch list...

I was scared the play was going to be actually boring, like, an episode only about it and it alone, I'm happy I was wrong.
This dude Narushima immediately became my favorite male character in this, that was awesome. I hope they don't forget about him in the next projects Aqua or Kana have, it would be such a wasted character (I don't read the manga).
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~

Hey, SE guy, DO YOUR JOB RIGHT on this decent show!
At Melt's high point, I found I was the only one making a roar of excitement among the applause crowd of audiences. Shame on me!

A schoolteacher spoke about the climactic sequence of Stanley Kubrick's classic science fiction film "2001: A Space Odyssey" to junior high school students, including me. But the sequence was so inexpressible in language that we had no idea what he was talking about. Still, I felt that I could feel the passion of the teacher that he usually does not show (the school teachers of East Asia are much stricter by the standards of other countries, I would say).

We witnessed 1'10".40 of twirling colors and flooding shapes collapsing each other and flowing into nowhere real.
I'm not confident that I can convey the sequence of these sparkling image cuts to anyone in words, but I will hold this passion in my heart.

Well, the time for cardio exercise is over. Take a breath, everyone. From here, the all-out sprint to the end begins.
Now it's the turn of the four leads, all to get caught up in the frenzy star in Aqua's eye.

* I can't help but notice the dungeon background art, the mysterious colossus of a curvy woman in a veil and archaic garb, reminiscent of a huge reclining Buddha statue...
Aha, that's the one that had been spoken, 『極楽天女』Gokuraku Ten-nyo, "The Heavenly Woman of Paradise" !

For those who complain about this episode (in which the performances of the supporting cast are so intense) and beg the main casts to make the show more exciting quickly, I can recommend the perfect show.

"Only the last episode is a masterpiece".
The title of this legendary work is...

  «I'll Go With Sweet Today» !!

Get laid well for weeks and just watch the final episode. 🛌
Take it from me, it must be what you want. 😁

A serious talk: real action show business is not immune to this upheaval.
With the release of this episode, this has become the new criterion for future 2.5-dimensional stage productions. In terms of production, stage professionals are now required to do more than what was expressed in this episode.
It is not such easy to have friendly competition with each other. This is the beginning of an era in which inferior or unprofitable 2.5D stage projects will be weed out before being put into production.

I shuddered at the unfathomability of Kaburaki, a man who was seen by Aqua (and by us) just as a waypoint to truth.
Even stage producer Raida and director Kaneda could not bet on Melt's potential. Especially when it comes to the realm of show business, Kaburaki's sense of smell will be able to perceive things that Aqua or Akane cannot yet.
It turns out that he is not the true culprit, but I belive he will be involved again before Aqua gets to the heart of the matter.

This episode was so insane! as a manga reader, I'd say that Doga Kobo really went hard on this episode. If this is how they handled this part with Melt's arc, imagine how it will be for next episode with Kana, Akane and Aqua. The rivalry and fight between Kana and Akane will be something to watch out.

MY HEART MELTED TO MELT'S CHARACTER OMG, I always and always love characters that show their development and Melt did that I'm so proud of him even Yoriko sensei cried I got carried away and cried lol.

ABSOLUTE CINEMA, Doga Kobo again shows their prowess in beautiful visuals they are very good at playing with colors and beautiful transitions, even anime like this has a peak sakuga that is better than some shonen battle or trash isekai.

Kana and Taiki their duet is a joy to behold and I still can't wait to see how Doga Kobo will cook up some of my favorite panels in this Tokyo Blade arc.

The Opening Scenes of the stage drama were amazing. Narushima went from being a loser actor to being an experienced actor. this episode mainly focused on him. Aqua opening his eyes & the stage acting of Narushima was amazing ✨🔥. Abiko Sensei too got excited 🔥. Bro finally faced the problems head on🔥. Yoriko Sensei Cried Man!! She's do happy that he didn't ruin this time 😂. Now it's time for our Aqua to shine on the stage. THE ENDING ARE ALWAYS EXCITING & The quality of animation is so damm good.🔥
@Ricky16 not really, Aqua told him that he is far from being a good actor, but if he could nail that one scene he'd be a memorable one.

What is this so good, truly cinematic and unforgettable experiences.

At the same time, what an irony that we watch a stage playbased from a manga in an anime. All actor are prepared for this moment, Melt Kiwami grown a lot from this and the green guy Sakuya acting is quite good either. Can't wait for emotional acting from Toki and the others!

Oh. My. GOD! THIS EPISODE WAS AMAZING! The first half of the episode was the usual, the next half BLEW IT OUT OF THE PARK!

Melt's insecurites and self-esteem when it comes to acting was protrayed well, and then the scene where he put all of his frustration into his acting was PEAK. The animation was fantastic and made me tear up. I have never been that hyped up since the scene with Kana and Taiki in the first episode.

Melt's performance amazed even Kamoshida and Yoriko, who were previously dissapointed by his performance in sweet today and his practice for the 2.5D stage plag respectively. Seeing Yoriko cry during his performance was a highlight as it showed how far Melt has come since sweet today.

One of the best episodes of the season alongside episode 4! Now im Excited for next weeks episode! ♡
