a most peculiar of sitations here where we have a student who speaks japanese and russian and a classmate that for whatever reason can understand russian! first episode was really fun to watch and as a manga reader of this series, the essence that made me want to read the manga has been translated oh so well into the anime!

Un gran episodio para comenzar, pero si debo decir que tal vez utiliza algunos recursos estereotípicos, no me disgustó para nada (puede ser porque tengo estándares muy bajos). Un protagonista que no quiere entender lo que sienten por el y una chica que es tímida al expresarse, eso ya se ha visto incontables veces pero no deja de gustarme (por ahora). El primer episodio en si fue bastante bueno y ya nos dice de inmediato en torno a que va a girar y que tipo de problemáticas puede haber dentro de la historia, eso sumando a las pistas del opinión, que por cierto es bastante bueno, aunque no lo suficiente. Sin nada mas que decir, pues es un muy buen primer episodio.

I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I haven’t read the manga for this one yet as my list keeps piling up but I really enjoyed this first episode. I think it’s the demeanor of the characters. Either way I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.

Just watched the first episode. Everything was fine until Alya started using Russian phrases. I'm a native Russian speaker. To be honest, the voiceover in Russian is very mediocre, the pronunciation seemed more or less normal to me, but the intonation was just terrible. Intonation was like when you voice the text in Google Translator. I really respect the authors and the voice actress, but for a Russian-speaking viewer the transition from Japanese to Russian is very rough and not natural. So I will continue to watch the anime not in the original, but in Russian dubbing) I would like to ask those who do not speak Russian how do you like the Russian language of the main character? Do you find it cute? Or strange?

@Amphi0n92 I am not a Russian speaker but I think Alisa speaks Russian in a delicate, feminine and young way. Cute, indeed.

The first episode of Shikimori-san not only depicted the physical ability of Shikimori-san or the bad fortune of Izumi-kun, but also the kindness of Izumi-kun and how the two were attracted to each other.
Compared to the first episode of Shikimori-san, this episode had good display of Alya's personality (as in the title, ロシア語でデレる Russia-go de Dereru) but failed to extend anything on the mental of the character. Also, Masachika was barely beyond the average good-for-nothing male character.
Moreover, I think the depiction of Alya's personality was somewhat loose and unfocused compared to that in Shikimori-san. The phone scene starting at 06:51 contributed very little to the development of the character. The copper scene and the socks scene were both focusing on her playfulness (and then デレる dereru) but this phone scene didn't. It introduced that she was a member of the Seitokai but the fact that she was a part of Seitokai wasn't really important or affected any character building in this episode (Maybe it should have though). The childhood scene at 14:14 didn't add anything to this episode either. I doubt if this childhood character would appear in the first one third of the anime at all.

Well, that's said, I do enjoy this episode.

As a long time Roshidere enjoyer I can tell you that if you be patient enough you will see who are Masachika, Yuki and Alya.

The first episode of the anime follows the 3 first chapters of the first volume which were goofy but yes a bit light about characters.

In short and without spoil if you need to be convinced.

Masachika is the best actor
Yuki is just like a coin
Alya is touching

I commented on this not because I would drop the anime nor that I wasn't enjoying it. But I just think it could be done better. Shikimori-san had one (well two) of my most favourite characters but fell short of what I would regard as great anime work. Opinions differ but I just want to see whether or how the production team would be able to do better this time.

holy shit doga kobo is going 2 for 2 this season by the looks of it, great start to the point it even makes me wanna read the LN. i really like the mc, bro realized he has a fetish lmfaooo he just like me fr xD
interesting dynamic he got with alya, i like the fact that only those two can understand russian. even suou seems like she'll add some spice to this. i have high hopes after this strong start and hope it follows through with more fun, some things are predictable but it doesn't ruin the show at all. also that one scene was peak af, cooked with the visuals.

I first read the manga adaptation since I saw someone talking about it on Twitter and I loved the idea of a girl speaking Russian and a boy who can clearly understand it but she doesn't know! The manga was great, so when I heard there would be an anime adaptation soon after I caught up with the latest chapters, I was very excited!!! I feel like we never get many Slavic languages in the spotlight.

The OP is amazing, I didn't expect such a high quality masterpiece for such an anime but I'm all for it! Alya's voice is just like how I imagined it, alongside Masachika! The Russian itself spoken by Alya is pretty good, I know how hard of a language it is to speak (I speak Serbian myself and many of the sounds don't exist in English or Japanese in this case, such as the Serbian spoke in Assassination Classroom between Irina and her master in the anime, it really didn't sound like Serbian at all to the point that I didn't realise it was Serbian being even spoken at all when I watched). I loved the little милашка from the beginning, it was so cute!

I love the animation and the colours, they're very pretty! I could stare at this anime all day if there were more episodes! My favourite part had to be the end with Masachika putting on Alya's socks, the manga made me squeal, and the anime made me do the same thing! They're so made for each other, please just kiss already. I can't wait for the next episode of this wonderful anime!

FINALLY THIS ANIME CAME OUT!!!

I've been waiting for around a year for this release and I can say that it looks really good. It adds a new flavour to your typical romcom anime with the whole speaking Russian thing and as someone who has has a fascination with both Russian and Japanese language/culture, I feel that this is one that I will definitely look forward weekly.

There is a really nice dynamic between the main duo and it there seems like there is potentially a love triangle brewing? Unlike most romcoms of this nature where the mc is unable to speak properly to his love interest, we see that the mc and main girl already have a good relationship as friends and aren't afraid to tease to one another which I find quite nice.

Judging by the hype for this series being adapted into an anime and it's compariaon to the likes of "the fragrant flower blooms with dignity" and "Blue box" which similarly have announced an anime in the works, I'm sure this won't disappoint.

Welp, here's the highly anticipated anime (I'm one of those peeps are were hyped for it lol). So far it seems really solid, there's nothing particularly that I dislike. The rating on this site so far is pretty high, above an 8, wonder how much it'll change as we progress through this anime.

That childhood memory had to be Masachika with Alya right? Or I wonder who that really is lol. We got that silly panchira moment too, sasuga rom-com moment.

I was a little late on watching the first episode coz of a certain game that came out today lol, been having a bit of a blast.

Of course, it can be adjusted at any point freely so why not be honest week by week? I personally think people who wait til the end are probably following social prompts or trends to guide their decisions rather than their own judgement. Obviously not in all cases, but weekly scoring is not something that deserves criticism or scorn.

Actually the manga is the one that changed the scene. In the Light Novel, which is the source. it was just like anime.

I already love this anime. It's a classic romance anime with a spicy Russian (literally) twist, i like where it's heading. Only thing I'd have to critique is the relationship progression. Like naked toes and panties showing FIRST EP is a bit extreme... I'm concerned with how much more extreme it can get from that alone, but I digress. 1st ep laid out a solid foundation. 8/10 very good

The first episode was pretty funny, funnier than I expected it to be. The art and style is also above average I would say. And of course, we have to have the bald (or almost bald) friend of the MC who is obsessed with girls (this one seems to be less of a loser than most).

The pronunciations don't sound the smoothest to me but given its difficulty and the fact that the person speaking this is someone who's passionate for Russian studies in real life, it's a solid effort at least. I know that if I had to say anything that isn't in English, it would be an atrocity. Everything about the plot and characters felt too gimmicky and stale for me, Alya's got a decent design but feels very flat as a character so far with some tsundere tendencies that feel like it came from the late 00s/early 10s. The plot is also looking to build to the MC and the Student Council given Alya and Yuki are already there and he's been questioned multiple times to join so even that doesn't sound incredibly appealing as a key subplot. So yeah, the actual characters and story to watch in this first episode were underwhelming. After the Angel Next Door anime and a few others I've seen recently, I'm a bit tired of the princess/angel perfect characters to the school but has differences shown to the main character. Trope got really boring quick and this anime doesn't really differ from that enough for me.

Pacing was a bit fast but given its a light novel adaptation, it is what it is. Not that big of a deal unless its absolutely butchered or terrible to actually watch through.

Doga Kobo had a good looking opening in Oshi no Ko, and this one looks good too. Songs for both are much weaker than the visuals for both. Going to be really intriguing seeing if Doga Kobo can deliver top-drawer visual stuff for both throughout given their solid reputation beforehand. This show doesn't look like Doga Kobo's best whatsoever with the premiere but it looks solid still and the designs look decent, reflects the books well enough.

I had the exact same thought don’t know why ppl were hyping this up like it’s the best rom-com that came out when the season has just started.
