This is a very graceful show, with the setting and smooth animation quality. There's a mix of human and supernatural in this. The family seems to have accepted that cat Buchio in this.

The slice of life feeling is also very natural and some of the non-human characters definitely looks interesting. Buchio is a prominent character in this show so I'm very curious how he behaves with others. Good start, looking forward to more.

Mangaka noho's manga about a talking cat... an interesting premise, I'll give it that

Both Pii's OP and Aoi Kubo's ED are chill and laid-back, perfect for this show.

In a rural town where youkai, humans, and gods coexist peacefully amidst warmth and occasional mystery, the ordinary routines of daily life unfold. However, one summer, the twenty-year-old cat named Buchio undergoes a sudden transformation into a nekomata. Determined to uncover the cause behind his evolution, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery alongside Yuri, a transforming kitsune. Meanwhile, Muu observes the crow Tengu Jirou as he fulfills his Tengu duties, leading to a newfound appreciation for Jirou's character. Concurrently, rumors surface regarding an unfortunate Nue, stirring intrigue and speculation throughout the town

Aw, they gave him a little chair. That family really loves Buchio. That big bird guy is hilarious. I bet he used his powers to keep the ice cream cold too. I thought humans and supernatural beings would be enemies, but it's nice they're getting along. It's interesting how everyone treats supernatural stuff as normal. Imagine if your pet suddenly acted human one day. Buchio, the shapeshifting Kitsune, seems like a nice country gal. Poor Buchio must be so confused about his new life as a nekomata. Muu's dad situation is sad. I wonder what she saw at the end. And that snake looks suspicious. Maybe it hints at a more serious plot?

This show started happy, but now it's dark and sad. So many mysteries to uncover... I'm hooked!

Mangaka noto's only work that is the web manga which sees humans turned into animals, it's definitely quite the mystery, aside from the Natsume Yuujinchou vibes.

Pii's OP is quite the calm vibes, same with Aoi Kubo's ED.

A rural town where people and gods live normal, everyday lives, mixed with a bit of warmth and occasional mystery, with ayashi and normal human beings in Fuchgamori.

When Buchio is reborn into a nekomata, it's quite the fascination, alongside adults who are Yokai (like the crow tengu Jiro). But for a new graduate, he must get used to a new life, of which Jiro and old man tengu Tazenbo teaches him the delicacy of being one. Of course, regular humans like Mutsumi a.k.a Mu-chan can see all kinds of spirits, and Buchio must learn his usage of yokai powers from Yuri Tachibana, the bakekitsune.

Oshoro coming to Mutsumi's house in the need to see her father, whom she thinks that he is dead, the gods are always watching them. The first lesson for Buchio to turn one of his paws into a human hand, it's not the easiest due to mental concentration, and when his friends of Takumi and Ryo come to see him, he instantly did the transformation to good effect. But in regard to Mutsumi's father, him being slipped into the void, it's not a subject where she can let the kids know, and yokai adults like Jiro and Tazenbo are her confidante.

The snake and ominous figures, it's clear that Fuchgamori is no mere simple town...

What a fascinating show, I really want to learn more of this human-yokai co-existing world. There's clearly something ominous about this show amidst the fancy settings...

I have been waiting for a show like Natsume Yuujinchou or Fukigen na Mononokean for a long time.

Chill and wholesome first episode. However, the last couple of minutes had a little darker atmosphere.

Buchio is so adorable. :3

Also, the ED is nice and chill.

Very much enjoyed the first episode. Kind of what you might get if you took Natsume Yuujinchou and gave it the idyllic rural setting of Non Non Biyori, and since I love both of those this seems right up my alley.

Given how laid back and wholesome the episode was, the last few minutes were a bit of a surprise. As we seem to have some darkness and a mystery lurking in the background.

Can’t wait for the next episode.

My first impression was that this was only going to be a wholesome slice of life type of anime but that darker/mature turn towards the end of the episode was really interesting - I wonder if this anime will involve more horror elements in future episodes

Loved it! Too bad this will hardly be noticed by people. Certainly a hidden gem.

This is both wholesome and sad and quite dark (literally lol, at the end).

P.S wtf? why 7 people (so far) hated this episode?

What a captivating blend of mystery and everyday life! "Mangaka noto" presents us with a unique premise where humans transform into animals, reminiscent of the enigmatic vibes found in Natsume Yuujinchou. Pii's OP and Aoi Kubo's ED perfectly set the tone with their calming vibes, mirroring the serene atmosphere of Fuchgamori, where yokai and humans coexist seamlessly.

Buchio's transformation into a nekomata adds an intriguing layer to the story, as he navigates the complexities of yokai society with the guidance of Yuri Tachibana. Meanwhile, Muu's quest to find her missing father hints at deeper secrets lurking beneath the surface.

The show's graceful animation and seamless integration of supernatural elements into everyday life create a truly immersive experience. From Buchio's endearing interactions with his human family to the humorous antics of characters like the winged dragon Jirou, there's never a dull moment in Fuchgamori.

As the mysteries deepen and tensions rise, I eagerly anticipate each new episode, eager to uncover the truth behind this captivating world of human-yokai coexistence.

I like the Natsume's Book of friends anime and heard this had similar vibes, which it did at times but this one didn't grab me anywhere near as much as Natsume did. It was fairly boring for the most part but I do like the mystery part towards the end to make it a bit more interesting after a very slow start.

I enjoyed this entirely more than I was expecting to, from the characters and VAs to the art and music, all fine stuff. A bit of wholesome, a dash of humor, a sprinkling of bittersweet, and just a smattering of potential horror at the last with the dad, the darkness, and the snake, a delightful recipe.

Normally I follow the 3-episode path but sometimes there's exceptions, good and bad, this is one of the good ones that's a watch from the first.

The artwork is so beautiful! That alone makes me want to watch the first episode again and again.

Very good first episode with chill vibes. The ending was a little dark imo
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

WOW, what a start! I somehow missed this one initially when I was browsing the seasonal anime list. I could not believe what I was watching!

Absolutely beautiful art and music. The characters look so appealing. Heavenly Delusion was the first thing that popped up in my head, even though this is (probably) a very different type of show. It feels like a very high-quality production.

Lots of imaginative and subtle worldbuilding, too. I don't think I've ever seen the spirits actually visit homes on Obon in anime.

Very wholesome and relaxing vibes, too. The show must've really sucked me in, because the final few seconds actually gave me chills, when they wouldn't have been scary at all in any other context.

This might become my favorite non-sequel show of the season, if not THE favorite. What a pleasant surprise.

Buchio is the cutest thing ever! They did an excellent job with his shy personality and cute apperance!

Aside from him, a very solid premiere. I thought it was just a calming, "get away from everyday life" sort of fantasy SoL, but it seems they also push a darker plot with the disapperance of Mu-Chans dad. This whole stuff with the "rift between life and death" and Mu-chan being able to "see it" reminds me a lot of the horror manga Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu.

If they manage to give the dark side and the secluded, protected village side a good balance, this might become an amazing show. I already know that if Buchio ever gets remotely in danger I'll freak out!

Ok this 120% my type of show. Nice relaxed vibe, nice characters, good vibes, love the music and sounds and then there's just a bit more other stuff to hit you in the feels and some mystery. It's wholesome but there's also something in the background. That little bit more with the all the supernatural make it a 120% instead of just 100%

(I'm writting this as I watch so some stuff is chaotic and wrong)

Ngl, I started it because "funny bird man on the cover' but it seems like a cute feel-good anime so far. Like one of those anime you can watch ona very bad day to lift your spirits up.

The fact that youkai have to fill papers and have insurance lol.

When the horse transformed into cucumber, oh my God, so cute, I can't~

There are still more sad/serious moments, for some weird reason I got a hunch that maybe Jirou is Mutsumi's father. That's probably wrong but it was my first thought after her grandfather came to talk to her. (oh my God what if her father is the cat? Or the God that took the food aaaaa)

It's been ages since I've watched Natusme, but I totally get why people say those two anime are similar.

Seems like there is a bigger mystery coming our way, I'm invested!

So maybe it's not gonna be as happy and feel-good as I intially thoguht, but still I'm very positive about this anime being fantastic.

@Alkimia Yeah it's realyl weird. I'm guessing it might be because so few peopel are watching it, usually the peopel that watch more anime / shwo up to watch anime soonest tend to score lower than everyone else. Might be that the show just doesn't have the numbers right now to attract more general audiences. It's a conspiracy!

I remember I had started reading the manga of this but I stopped and I don't remember why. Admittedly it was a scanlation so maybe the site I was reading it on just ran out of chapters. It's so nice! I can tell it's gonna get kind of heavy, but not in a bad way. I'm invested already. Hopefully it keeps a good balance of slice of life and drama/action like Natsume's Book of Friends or Mieruko-chan. The digestible worldbuilding is good as well.
