What a bizarre way to end your anime. Then again, this anime is quite offbeat and unreadable to begin with. Feels like the characters change personalities every episode.

That was really a bitter sweet ending. It’s horrible and amazing. I’m in awe and in anguish. Thus is life.

The structure and themes of the show were good, I liked the episodic mysteries. But the characters were duller than dishwater. And the final episode was anti-climactic to say the least.

All good things must end... So does Hyouka.

Definitely one of my favorite anime of all time.

Satoshi and Ibara are "back to normal" when it comes to their relationship, but it seems Satoshi told her the truth after all. Now I respect him more.

Now, about final scene with Chitanda and Oreki. I'll take that as a semi-confession! Chitanda basically tells Oreki what he should expect if he decides to become part of her world. We all know Oreki loves Chitanda. Dude's been into her for a long time now, but his indirect confession (in his mind) says it all. He isn't going to leave Chitanda and will continue to support her. Oreki remembering Satoshi in this moment is also the proof he loves her, but is also not yet ready to accept this, or dedicate self to romance.

I would certainly love to get more of Hyouka. I'm not a novel-guy, but may check them; albeit I've been spoiled already that the latest volume #6 is not final, and people have been waiting for #7 for years! Which is bad news since the wait continues to this day. Oh well, for now I'll enjoy what is available. Truly one of the anime of all times.

Great episode to end it on. The final scene brings Oreki's impression of the moment (could also be seen as a day dream), into his real world. A rose-tinted experience. It showcases thoughtout the episode Oreki's growth and brought it full circle, while still plagued with uncertainty (like Satoshi), the direction his life is headed towards is now clear.
This series has been excellent, from start to finish.

I'm several years too late to comment about this series. But Oreki's sister is so OP and so sharp that she manipulates the whole series even if shes not there.

It's been like a decade since I first watched Hyouka and all this time I've been agonising over the fact that he didn't say it out loud and we got baited. Like come on man. Words can't describe just how much I love these two and wanted to see them together. Rewatching this after all this time reminded me of the good times and also the painful one. Hyouka will remain one my favourite. KyoAni animation so spectacular even a decade ago.

Very high quality series overall, the visuals were phenomenal by TV standards and the writing was both warm and highly intricate. The biggest misstep for me was the weird angsty stuff that started creeping in during the longer story arcs (film club and culture fair), and was never really justified or resolved. Perhaps there was just some subtle detail I missed and upon a rewatch that stuff might feel more natural, seems possible.

Through this series, I learn a lot about the way you draw conclusions by observing your surroundings
