| Kanata got through by the skin of the teeth, and Ogata's Toyota 86 now has no short of offers to be tuned and souped-up for tomorrow's race at Lake Ashinoko. Ren taking Kanata out for a ride and also to find his father in Kamakura, though he seems to have forgotten what happened from before. More like a tourist trip for Kanata as he retraces his parents' footsteps into both the past and present. Even he acknoweldges the fact that he can't always live off the Saionji family, Ren wil always take the opportunity to have a picture with him since she loves him dearly. The pain to split the winnings between Kanata and Ogata, a couple saw the famed driver and recognizes him, though they are the Yajikita biological siblings of Kakeru Yashio and Nozomi Kitahara who have names to their credit in MFG as well. With all 15 drivers to the start line, the stakes are high as a kiss from the cheek of one of the Angels is up for grabs for only the winner's spot, and Shun wants Ren's kiss so badly, he's pushing hard. It's all about tire management on top of driver skills, and this race is only getting started. |

| "Turn off the traction control" kek There's an S2000 next to the S14 in Ogata's shop We are introduced to the Lotus Exige and Alfa Romeo's drivers, siblings coincidentally in the same restaurant as Kanata. Only...blond and brown hair with different surnames. Could they be Keisuke and Kyoko's children???? First Eurobeat song of this episode is Pull the trigger by Bon. I wonder if "No Fear of Blind Corners" will be what the Japanese cover is called? Kai Kogashiwa is back!?! yoooo Second song is Hi Love by Jay Lehr. I feel Back on the Rocks would be more appropriate for a GTR overtaking Mercedes. Damn, the race just started and it's a cliffhanger ending. |

| I'm glad we got more Kanata and Ren, that was so sweet. Hope they get together soon. The race is finally here and I'm super hyped to see it. Kai is back too. Watching this weekly is gonna be painful. Btw Kanata can do tire management too and it's not only Michael. |

| While MF Ghost has way different feel and setting from Initial D, it's still a great watch. The amount of work Felix Films has put into it shows and while it's different, it's definitely exciting seeing 500+ HP monsters duke-ing it out at the start of the pack as much as seeing the drifting shenanigans Kanata will pull off at the back. The next ep will be fire. |
That random woman at the beach asking Kanata and Ren if they wanted to get their picture taken was so forced lol. Would've seemed natural if one of them had their phone out trying to take a picture during that moment, but they were just walking around. Yikes |

| a SoL episode for the most part but these episodes go from 0 to 100 real quick once the eurobeat kicks in. the siblings are here and nozomi kitahara is voiced by yuu serizawa who sang the banger opening for this. i liked the buildup to the race in the second half. i agree that 'back on the rocks' would've been a more fitting song for the gtr but maybe it's too soon for that. |

| Ren needs to go away. Half this episode was mid at best. I don't mind a love story, humanizes the toons a bit. But, she's pretty insufferable at times and any contribution she has to the story is growing more insignificant. Him being apparently so hot to everyone makes this story feel less authentic. He's hot, he's talented, he's got a troubled past. These some foundational romance tropes getting laid. Can't wait for Ren to question her feelings and support for our boy as she struggles to deal with her everchanging heart and emotions. How long does she lead a double life deceiving her love interest? And will the feelings be mutual? Time's running out, he might leave soon and then she will never know! oh my god, what will we as viewers do?! I'll tune in as long as they got eurobeats and decent racing, but this love story is super lame atm. |

| Most of the episode was focusing more of the slice of life aspect, which is something MF Ghost does decently well, just like with Initial D's SoL episodes. =) Ren and Kanata walking around and taking in the sights of Kamakura makes me want to go there right now! The place does look pretty and the pair of them did have a fun time. While I do think the Ren hate here is typically over the top as usual on MAL, I do think she's fallen in love with Kanata a little too quickly, which doesn't paint her in the best position here. Mind you, romance wasn't the strongest point for Initial D, so I guess MF Ghost will follow that same path closely, who knows. Anyways, the build up to the race with the 15 cars was pretty nice. Kanata was able to meet the Yajikita sibling pair, Kakeru and Nozomi, who drives the Lotus Exige and Alfa Romeo 4C respectively. I already like Nozomi with how happy she was to meet Kanata. The start of the race was already hype, with the 911 GT3 and the Cayman already duking it out for 1st, while Shun already pounces on the AMG GT S with his AWD Nismo GT-R. As for Kanata, he might be behind for now, but with his preference of no traction control and tyre management, he has the aim of making his move soon enough, with Nozomi's Alfa and a Honda Civic Type R in his sights. I do look forward to seeing him going for it in the next episode! |

| There is so little actual racing with eurobeat... the few songs they chose are good, but I really wish there was more. I still get goosebumps when watching ID second stage for example. This romance thing is getting a bit much focus as well imo... I mean it's cute slice of life thing and it's nice in small doses but I want actual racing |

| The first half of the ep is the usual Initial D -style of calm before the storm. Pretty chill, to be honest, Ren is also quite nice as long as she lets Kanata do what he does. She still gotta apologize for that bitch slap though, come on. Now the real hype is this first REAL race!!! We're seeing the whole racer lineup, from Kanata's humble GT86 to that 911 GT3. If MFGhost was written later on, we might've seen that 911 be a 911GT3RS and the Cayman a 718 GT4S, then a Huracan STO and so forth. If that were the case, Katana winning with his GT86 sounds even less of a possibility. The most unrealistic thing in this race is the fact that there's no safety equipment being worn by the racers besides gloves. This is a street race so OEM safety equipment on their cars might've sufficed but even then a racing organization would usually require their racers to wear a racing helmet at the very least. Is this Ryosuke's way to earn more profits? With more injuries, more racers are tended by his hospital's services. Alas, obviously they don't wear helmets cuz the author wants us to see their faces. I would've liked to see all the changes done to the GT86. Besides the removal of the traction control and new wheels, what else? Or is that it? |
