This episode starts with seeing a familiar face which is connected with really bad memories, Nanahoshi, who caused a massive reaction from Rudy. However when introduced to her we get to see she is one of the people Rudy tried to save in his precious life who also got reincarnated in this world. What do you think of Rudy not wanting to leave this world? I find it pretty understandable since he finally made his life much better than previously. This whole episode is the discussion between Nanahoshi and Rudy. Poor Fitz couldn't follow the discussion at all since it was all in Japanese and not in human God language. Finally they included her to talk about the teleportation. Which she assumes happened because she arrived in thisneorld which makes Fitz break and attack her. Which shocked me seeing Fitz in such a way. Of course Fitz continues being the main motivator for Rudy's behaviors, which seems to remain as a main factor in this season.

Well, this episode had an interesting element dealing with summoning. With Rudeus meeting new people everyday while learning, he's obviously going to encounter is mysterious people including the girl with the mask this episode.

Speaking of summoning magic, it seems to be a mysterious branch of magic. And damn Fitts almost lost control of her temper there.

Holy shit. Easily the best episode of the season so far.

As Rudeus continues to look into the mass teleportation that happened Fitz tells him to go and ask the summoning specialist, Silent Sevenstar. A person famous for her inventions around the school that have some relations to his old world. Though as he goes to meet them, he's soon surprised to find out that the Silent Sevenstar is none other than Nanahoshi, aka Orsted's right-hand man. Rudeus obviously in a panic tries to run but soon passes out. After everything is cleared up, its revealed that Nanahoshi, is a Japanese girl, that had a different fate than Rudeus in her past life. Instead of reincarnating like Rudeus did, she found herself unexpectedly transported to the Asura Kingdom, where she was rescued by none other than Orsted. She was also one of the girls that Rudeus saved before dying to Truck-kun. After talking they decide to help themselves, she help Rudeus teaching him summoning magic.

Wow, lot of answers this episode, but a lot more questions. Rudues's panic attack clearly shows that he still has trauma from Orsted and I say it was presented beautifully. One of Mushoku Tensei's praises from the first season was that they made their whole own language just for the shows and seeing ass both of the leads this episode are from Japan, speaking in Japanese would only be obvious. But seeing as how they speak Japanese normally when they're really speaking the made up language, it obviously makes a problem for this episode. Though they solve it rather quick. Gotta give praises to Fitz's VA because holy shit she went in after finding out that Nanahoshi was the person who made the Teleport Incident happen and she doesn't play.

With Rudeus finally having somewhat of a clue onto what happened in the Teleportation Incident, one of his reason for coming to the academy, has been checked off.

Finally the Nanahoshi Shizuka reveal. Not only she's from Japan but also she's the girl Rudeus died protecting. Since she was summoned unlike Rudeus who was reincarnated, she doesn't have mana and boy oh boy this is gonna lead into so many things. Also she's possibly the cause of mana incident. Btw it was hilarious watching her casually wear rings and prepare to protect herself from Fitz outburst. The calm and collected Fitz sure lost it but given what happened it's hardly any surprise. Also Rudeus sure got scared of Nanahoshi, poor guy.

The story from here on out just keeps getting better as you slowly will be able to piece things together and see how everything that has happened so far is connected.

I’m so irritated over Sylphy sounding like a broken record and repeating how much she wants to tell Rudeus who she is but couldn’t because she thinks he wouldn’t remember her.. I mean fuck with this. Anyways, let the stupidity be whatever it is, in the sequence of learning a cure over his impotence, this time dude… proved the phrase of passing out from the appearance of someone as if they’re a ghost quite literally.

I mean we know these people in their world speak in an ABSURDLY SOUNDING LANGUAGE, but them transitioning from basic japanese to THAT language all of a sudden felt hilariously weird. I mean the way Rudeus and Sylphy started speaking that way lol. Though quite understandable when they’ve to make a point that this mask girl who was with Orsted back then, is a japanese too like Rudeus, heck she that same girl whom Rudeus in his past self was trying to save, to inevitably no result at the end of the day lol.

She didn’t reincarnate like him, so it goes without saying she doesn’t have some fond longing to this world like the dude has, heck her condition’s kind of worse than dude. She found herself in a new world all of a sudden, having to travel with Orsted of all people… kind of makes it easy to understand why she wants to go back. Though since dude doesn't, they kind of made a deal where Rudy will help her with mana to have her study about ways to go back and she'll help him in his ways of becoming an able person again.

Honestly it felt like I was watching this EP for 5 mins lol. I've been eagerly anticipating Nanahoshi's appearance in this season because she's one of the individuals Rudeus saved prior to his reincarnation. It appears that they are gradually developing trust in each other. Their differing perspectives on their former world have led to a mutually beneficial arrangement (It's understandable why Rudeus would want to stay). The teleportation incident affected everyone, even Sylphy had quite a reaction. However, the causes behind it are still in mystery. The ongoing research they are conducting might just be the key to solving this puzzle.

No doubt about it. This episode is so far the best episode from this part. We got a lot of info dump which included some cut contents from previous episodes. I cant wait for the next episode, which will probably be the climax of season 2's first part.

Good episode.
Was adapted really well, MT really does shine when the pacing slows down and it's not rushing content, now so does every other show but MT especially.
I'm very eager for the begaritt continent arc, one of my favorites in the series. Cour 2 seems quite far away looking the airing date.

Great episode. Felt like 5 minutes as usual. I loved Nanahoshi's character in the books so seeing her appear here and her conversation with Rudeus was not only entertaining but greatly fascinating too. The series tackled the conflicts between appearing in another world like this well, one person who lost everything in their original world and would never go back while the other hates the new world completely and wants to desperately go back to Earth. It makes sense too for Nanahoshi from her perspective since people who lived regular lives would most probably want to go back. Food is better, tech is more advanced, life is more comfortable plus even personally, she had friends and a life that was fulfilling before being thrown to a world with monsters, controversial morals and ethics, worse food, etc. She doesn't even have the conveniences that Rudeus does since at least Rudeus has amazing amounts of mana and managed to gain a family here in Paul/Zenith/Norn/Aisha and friends along the way, whereas Nanahoshi had nothing but travelling with someone as dangerous as Orsted. But also seeing from Rudeus' perspective, considering how tech played a part in him digging a hole to being locked in his room for decades and how his family after his parents died kicked him out, even his appearance and self-confidence being shattered, can understand his side too.

In general, it was interesting to see the themes tackled here and made for an effective episode that built on the lore, mysteries, emotions surrounding the world itself and introduce a very interesting and unique dynamic for this series, two people that came from Japan/original world. It even bugs Sylphie since there is a relationship the two of them have that go beyond what Sylphie and Rudeus would ever have no matter what since they would forever originate from different worlds and there are sides to the two of them she would personally not be able to realize. Still a lot of mysteries to learn and Nanahoshi enlisted Rudeus' help for her research to find a way to go back so that should be great.

The use of languages too was as expected, which is good since I did want to hear more of the original language that Paul and Zenith spoke when Rudeus was initially born first. Also, seeing Sylphie lose her mind after hearing that Nanahoshi was 'responsible' for the disaster was great too, and very expressive. Many did lose their family members and livelihoods through all that, like how she lost her own parents and was teleported to a situation where she could have easily died along the way too (Eris lost her own parents too and Sauros later on as well related to this incident). Her emotions about Nanahoshi considering this and her Japanese bond with Rudeus must be very conflicting, to say the least.

This was excellent overall and flew by so quickly. Pacing felt really good here as a whole too, directing was top-notch (loved the scene at the very end of Rudeus and Sylphie walking together but she couldn't keep up with him repeatedly, showcasing how she feels like Rudy might be slipping from her since she is already stressed about him forgetting her and then the whole Nanahoshi situation). Definitely one of the strongest episodes of this cour so far with great storytelling and characterization here, and even re-contextualization about the world and the idea of teleporting/reincarnating to one too. It's not just escapism and good things when being teleported. I myself sympathize more with Nanahoshi in this situation than Rudeus even with some bad things I've experienced with my life so far.

Nanahoshi was so great here. She was given so much depth made her feel like she could be a protagonist in this world based on her experiences and feelings, and the conflicting feelings surrounding being in a whole new world suddenly.

Nanahoshi! (I was spoiled on her name. Or was it mentioned in the first season? Idk)
Oh, they switched back to this world's language to show how they speak in Japanese. Nice.
9:47 I feel like Rudeus' eyes being covered here symbolizes something.
Bro I feel so bad for Sylphie lmao. Imagine just sitting there while they are talking in a completely unknown language to you and don't even seem to notice you.
Really looking forward to more Nanahoshi. Good stuff.

Nanahoshi finally makes her appearance.

The scene where Sylphie loses her control when she discovers the truth was really well done.

Overall this episode was a great adaptation.
I always wondered how they would adapt the whole language thing, but the way they did it made sense.

Since every episode of this show is always great I'm now measuring how much I like each episode by how short it feels.

That one was over in three minutes flat.

And they really are going to string Sylphie's reveal right to the end of this season aren't they.

I think my head will explode with the anticipation, but probably not like Rudy's head is going to explode!?

Rudy meeting a familiar face, or should I say a familiar mask. Since its none other than Nanahoshi whom was traveling with Orsted last season when that entire incident occurred. She's been studying magic circles in hopes of returning to her old world, the same one Rudy came from. Nanahoshi is in fact the same girl that Rudy died protecting as his last act of that life. A very intense moment when Rudy first saw her mask again after what happened last time. Rudy having a genuine panic attack remembering such a traumatic death. Nanahoshi being sublimely calm about the whole thing, she did convince Orsted to revive Rudy so that's gotta count for something I suppose. Traveling around the world in a single year with Orsted using hidden magic circles in old ruins. Using those same kind of circles to get back to her old world is now Nanahoshi goal, something she thought Rudy would share with her but of course not. Rudy has a much better life here than he ever did back in the old world it would be fruitless to return for him. He will still help Nanahoshi with her goal but just for her since she doesn't have any mana. The difference between her being teleported and him being reincarnated. Her teleportation into this world five years ago was also the cause of the mass teleportation event that separated everyone. Its absolutely understandable why Sylphy becomes to angry and attacks Nanahoshi after hearing she was the cause. Not directly since it was someone else that summoned her but she was the center of the event. An emotional response form Sylphy unlike anything we've seen from her, she feels great loss from that event just like Rudy does. She's getting closer to convincing herself to tell Rudy the truth but is still terrified he won't remember her. Sylphy is absolutely coming around to the idea though, and we can see how concerned she if for the kind of girls Rudy likes. Their bond has only deepened from meeting Nanahoshi and learning more about teleportation and these magic circles.

Masterclass of an emotional episode from start to finish. Even though there’s not a lot of physical action it’s an action packed episode.

Rudeus’ reaction to seeing Nanahoshi was so realistic and well done. The screaming, PTSD flashback, that desperate crawl to get away, it really captured just how terrified he was. Rudeus’ past life was horrible and he’s finally found a decent one here. The thought of that being taken away from him is truly scary.

Directors clearly have a thigh fetish with the way they were focusing on Nanahoshi thighs during the explanation scenes, but I ain’t complaining lol. So much background information and lore explained in this episode. Anime onlies are sure to have a lot of questions. Episodes like this where the fantasy aspect of the world and the worldbuulding are emphasised so much make me fall in love all over with MT.

Sylphie’s outburst was chilling. Goosebumps throughout that scene. Someone normally so polite and reserved snapping like that and switching to referring to Nanahoshi as “お前” really captured just how furious she was. Almost wanted that scene to go on longer just because of how well her seiyuu did.

The ending shot of Sylphie/Fitz trying to keep up with Rudeus is so nice as well. Lot of symbolism in that. As a kid she was behind Rudeus in terms of magical abilities and maturity and thought of him as an ideal to strive towards. Even at the university she still admires and wants to be like him. That whole situation Nanahoshi situation got her questioning just how close they are.

Really well done episode

The first thing that came to me when I heard "Silent Sevenstar" was that this Nanahoshi reveal wasn't very subtle, then I realized that she had to be named Shizuka for the name to make sense, which turned out to be correct.

I was a little confused by the language change at first but it ended up working really well. Poor Sylphie got completely ignored and just sat on a chair in the corner... Seeing her enraged afterwards was very sad and amazing at the same time. I was hoping for Rudy to finally figure who she was after hearing everything she said during that scene, maybe next week.

Kind of off-topic but I want to write this somewhere in case I end up being right. So, we've only seen the immediate aftermath of Eris sleeping with Rudeus, which was that scene where she's with Ghislaine. I'm not sure if this world has protection, but I'll assume that even if they do, it didn't look they used any. We haven't seen her at all since that time, and it's been years. Wouldn't it be crazy if she came back with their kid? That would certainly be a turning point and fuck up whatever is slowly happening with Sylphie. I hope it doesn't go that way though.

@Apratim Yeah she wore some rings just before Nanahoshi revealed she was 'responsible' for the incident that took place, that helped her in this case. Provided by Orsted who gave her those rings to help/protect her because she was unique and she accompanied him along the way too in season 1.

Rudeus saw Nanahoshi and it instantly made him flip holy shit. But I guess it's understandable cause he's probably traumatized from nearly dying to Orsted.

Damn. Nanahoshi was isekai'd but not exactly like Rudeus. And she's the same girl who Rudeus tried to save in his old life? I'm surprised Rudeus remembers her at all.

Judging by the fact she was summoned 5 years ago she probably didn't die from the truck accident. And since she was summoned she probably didn't die but is still alive.

But the question is, why would anyone want to summon a random Japanese girl? Did they see Rudeus' talent as a magician and decide they wanted someone like that too? Doesn't seem like they got their wish if that was the case.

This lore dump/exposition episode was really interesting. I wonder who those two Japanese people are. And why the hell Orsted is helping Nanahoshi?

I think Sylphie's parents might be dead judging by her reaction. Either way, she should confess to Rudeus already. Or Rudeus might actually forget her after including more and more people in his harem.

So the girl who was with Orsted during that fateful encounter turns out to be one of the students Rudy saved in his previous life. The PTSD panic attack he had when he saw her was crazy. Interesting to learn that she was teleported to that world and not reincarnated like Rudy, which leads her to believe she may have caused the mass teleportation. I felt bad for Fitz after she went into rage mode from hearing that. Also, I forgot that even though the characters speak "Japanese" to us, they're technically also not speaking Japanese in-universe lol, so carrying out the conversation in different languages to illustrate that was a nice touch.

Lots of revelations in this episode so I can't wait to see how much deeper the lore goes as we progress.
