THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This episode feels like the end already, so I'll treat it as the conclusion of the main story.

I thought the relationship between Mansairaku and Hikaru was very sweet and sacred to have transcended through time. It was very depressing to see Mansairaku just turn to dust like that!

Overall I thought that the first season was better than the second season (which was too episodic and rather boring at times). This is the first anime I've seen which has incorporated the same cast of characters in ancient form and modern form.

the first season was better but I think the end could be better. I don't like it that kind of end

I've enjoyed the 2nd season just as much as the 1st. This episode was really good. I kind of saw that coming though :<

The first season was way better than the second.

The way they forced the suspense before Hikaru returned the piece of magatama was way too annoying for me... I really wanted to slap Hikaru for a second there for crying all the time (thanks to Mansairaku slapping her instead XD) and pulling back when there was -obviously- not enough time to do her feelings justice. Hikaru's thoughts and feelings didn't have enough time to develop in a natural and logic way in the second season, a detail which spoiled the end of this season in the worse way possible.

I think this time she finally saves her brother. I won't save that season 1 is better than season 2 as I treat them as separate but still being linked, too bad Mansairaku died but hey he was the one who started it all, I just wanted to see if Tsuna would get his girl I mean the poor guy went to hell and back for her. In the future there is no social status that could interfere.

I actually cheered when Mansairaku slapped Hikaru. I was ready to throw my mouse and mousepad at the screen to be honest. She was so annoying >__<

I like the first half better than the second. I'm kind of confused though, Mansairaku said the piece of magatama has been handed down for generations in the Minamoto clan. How did they even get the piece? And why would putting the fragment back solve the problem? I mean the ritual setup 1000 years ago followed the path of emnity so how and why would making the magatama whole again solve the problem of Tokyo 1000 years into the future? Why did the five pillars/pentagram appear in the future in the first place? I hope the last two episodes clear this up.

Despite my greater preference for the first half, the Tokyo arc ended relatively well. Yet, there's two more episode to go. I'm not exactly sure what more this show could do, but ah well.

It's funny but I seem to be almost the only person who slightly prefers this arc...don't get me wrong, I love me some Heian drama, but it was too cliche for my taste (even though it was based on ancient tales so it's pretty silly to complain), and there was more "anime logic" and ridiculous enemies like Tsuchigumos there (though they were also based on an exagerrated legendary account, but still, I craved for more realism). Anyway, pretty nice and bittersweet end, Mansairaku is salt now!
