Fun Fact: Attack On Titan is inspired by Muv-Luv Alternative, a isekai VN from 2006. Isekai boom because web novels boomed at that time in late 2000s and early 2010s. And isekai is much easier to write. I hang around in the LN/WN community. Isekai has decreased over the past years. As of right now, isekai makes up of around 10% of the current new LNs. With about 70% of the new LNs being romcoms. |
| I honestly never heard anyone call it the “father of isekai” A more accurate term for it is a pioneer of the isekai genre in which it inspired a lot of its successors to follow the same formula it did. Kind of like how Dragon Ball and the Big Three did that for Battle Shonen series. |

| Lmao yeah back then when the anime just announced, I've seen tons of people calling it "The grandfather of isekai". Genuinely though it's from 90s, but 2012? Really? Tons of big isekai already exist, even the most cliche one is older than MT. It seems like people stop using that title tho, never really seen it recently, laughable indeed. |

But Rudeus character development in the future.. I've never seen anything like that before. Even when the series got ending.. Never seen other series Do an ending like Mushoku Tensei.. | Yeah I remember people calling MT the father of isekai or something. Maybe people werent knowledgeable about isekai back then so they just said whatever they wanted. So many isekai were already present before MT came into existence and so many cliche tropes were also present before MT was published so whoever calls MT the father of this genre is completely wrong. Nobody calls it that nowadays though. |

| In veteran Anime Community peopl calle it father of Isakai Anime becouse when SAO got released that was the same time when mushoku tensei was on trending on webnovel websit and the tropes which it created are used by other anime like .overpowered mc .multiple wifes .memories of previous life .truck kun .magic anit it's mechanics etc but mushoku tensei did it properly like they focused on world building and once the world is built enough to have the arc progress smoothly they stop World building and start the character development if we already know what's in the world we will focus more on character and story and the world will not distract us in important scenarios while in the other hand when there is nothing going on in the story the world which has been built which is in the background will come in the foreground and capture our attraction and will not get us bored ๐ฅฑ๐ด they also not only focused on pros of having memory of previous life but cons too they showed that Trama and PTSD of is carried to next world they showed that work is need to be to become the overpowered mc he doesn't become overpowered in just one night he need a time period to become on which other anime skips that and this the one of the pros of having memory of the previous life and still there is someone who is able to defeat him in that world that shows overpowered doesn't mean undefeatable they showed us proper mixture of all attributes which makes it the Isakai where other doesn't do a proper job just reincarnated the mc, make it overpowered, give him heram, and let the story progress itself this is the reason they call it the FATHER OF ISAKAI ANIME "*MUSHOKU TENSEI- ~JOBLESS REINCARNATED~*" |

| Gigguk is the only person I’ve heard calling it “the father of all isekai” And honestly… I can see why. I’ve seen a lot of isekai and I can confidently say that I’m not a fan of the genre. Some don’t have a good story. Some have the same mc copy pasted into every isekai anime. Some of them don’t take themselves seriously. Most of them don’t actually explore the world they’ve introduced and some don’t have have anything to explore. Mushoku Tensei has all of that and more, hence I don’t mind Gigguk calling it that. |

| It's called father of isekai for the same reason Dragon Ball is called father of shounen: it didn't create anything that wasn't done before, they just distilled it in a way that many future works of the genre copied. |
| to add to this. SAO started it's web novel in 2002. Most Isekai that actually got popular started before mushoku tensei. Just most of the modern seasonal trash Isekai that are getting pumped out released after mushoku. And because mushoku hits all the tropes not people will say "oh this modern Isekai got this and that trope from mushoku" no matter where it was actually from. |
