The blonde girl is a slave. What do you expect? She can't refuse anyone even if she wants.
Nah she just with Ketil.
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

This season might be smartly written, but it still feels like an interlude. I'm afraid there won't be a payoff in this season like Attack on Titan: The Final Season. It will just be a nice well written season that people don't really need to watch. There are 24 episodes so maybe things will change at the half way mark.

Man, I love Einar. Since he's around Thorfinn had such a great change. Them praying for a successful harvest was quite funny, especially since Thorfinn seemed a little bit embarrassed about it :D

We also got introduced to Thorgil, the second son of Ketil. This guy is definitely a war fanatic. The necklace out of the ears from englishmen revealed a lot about his character. I honestly didn't expect Ketil to have such a bloody past. Iron Fist Ketil is a pretty intimidating name, but looking at him now, he's just a shadow of his former self.

Snake was also able to locate the thieves, who turned out to be 2 young kids. Pater's objection about letting them work for Ketil, so that they'll be able to repay their fathers depth sounded actually generous. Until it got the part of the punishment. With the first hit I believed Thorgil broke every single rib of this boy, holy shit. If Ketil didn't interfere that boy could've been dead very easily.

This episode and particularly the end of it proofed, that Ketil is good guy. With his anxiety for violence and war, it definitely makes sense why he leads an idyllic life as a farmer. Hopefully Einar never finds out that his princess Arnheid is sleeping with his master Ketil.

If you're only watching the series for action then you should just drop it. It's obvious you don't care about character development or world building.

As a remark to how spectacular this storytelling is, about a full season ago, Askeladd made a short-spiel in which the punchline was "everyone is a slave to something."

How absurdly good is the pacing that an author can lay the groundwork of the theme for an entire season with a 30 second conversation, chronologically a decade and a half in storyline prior to the payoff?

Damn is Thorgil an absolute menace, man do I feel bad for Ketil being forced to act tough with that false reputation of his... That beating scene was rough, poor Sture man. You can definitely tell that Arnheid would rather be free than stay with Ketil forever, damn.

Great episode.

So that was arnheid at the end damn I feel really bad for einar if he finds out about that he’s gonna be pissed.

The censorship of the bed scene with Arnheid and Ketil was interesting. In the manga her hair is barely covering her breasts, and you can see a lot, driving home the aspect of her sexual slavery. In the anime, if I didn't know any better I might assume he is having a childlike moment and curling up on her as if she were his mommy that he needs comfort from. Both of these things are true, but the manga makes BOTH aspects more stark. I wonder if they couldn't have just shown that she was naked but added more hair to cover her nipples, in order to make it safe for TV but still suggesting quite a bit more about her situation.

Can we please move on? this is taking so damn long in this farming crap. This season isn't bad by any means but it's definitely overrated, how does this have a rating of 8.73? I haven't seen anything on this season yet that deserves the praise or the rating, I have this rated a 7/10 so far.

MAPPA is doing its best to make this interesting but apparently the source material isn't that good, it's just okay-ish to deserve a 7/10.

And with that being said, can we please move on?

Source material is rated 9.02 on this same site, 9th highest ranked manga and for a good reason. It wouldn't take long for you to double check it, instead you decided to do a wild guess based on assumptions, shit on the source material and praise Mappa, bet you are a diehard Shingeki fan.

And no, we cannot move on, we gonna savor every single moment, we've waited long for this adaptation and most seem to be enjoying it. But if its not your cup of tea, you can move on yourself and watch the newest trendy battle shounen
Mr. Zabuza.

Kids these days and their short attention span, they will throw a tantrum if they don't get action in every single anime or movie they watch, they need their fix of explosions and shiny powers if not they will deem something overrated or "mid."

I don't need action to enjoy an anime, Steins;Gate is my favorite anime and is not an action anime so I guess you decided to do a wild guess too based on assumptions huh? the sweet irony.

And speaking about kids, kids like you get offended when someone criticizes their favorite anime so maybe you need to grow up and not get offended next time so not only are you a kid for throwing a tantrum about me criticizing this season but you are also a hypocrite, crazy how that works, huh?

BTW, ratings don't mean shit, FMAB is rated #1 here and I consider FMAB a piece of crap, and this season so far hasn't done anything to deserve the high ratings either, it's not bad but it's definitely overrated, maybe the good stuff will happen later but so far I haven't seen anything here that deserves the praise or the high rating.

We got a bit of Thorfinn and Einar this episode with them getting some cute scenes with the girl and their field of wheat, but the episode was mostly focused on the farm's owner and the dynamic of his family and how he manages his family and farm. It was very interesting and incredibly well done, and actually did a great job humanizing him, even though he's a literal slave owner.

And yeah, his son is terrifying and yuck.

Ketil might have had a similar development as Thorfinn from the looks of it. Also, I sense that Arnheid might not be staying in the show for long.

Why did I even think those kids would get away without taking some beating with Snake and Thorgil in the scene. Ketil forced himself to do the job cause Thorgil would definitely end up killing that boy.
Arnheid looked more empty inside than Thorfinn.

Who knew that the so called "Iron fist" Ketil was a softy at heart?
He really struggled to give those two thieves a punishment until Pater suggested one.
He showed the most compassion towards the kids unlike Thorgil and Snake.
Props for the brother taking a 20 stroke beating. His lil sister will get good sleep tonight.

I can relate to Ketil's feeling though. War, bloodshed, and violence are scary.  Arnheld looked dead/bored trying to comfort her master in bed.
