Quite an episode. The pieces have been set for a long and bloody climax. Algard wants to do the right thing. But his character flaws and manipulation by others have him using all the wrong methods.
On the downside, the whole section at the academy party had me thinking, why is the writing so bad here? Anis standing around going I don't understand. Well maybe you don't know all their plotting, but it's obvious that there is a critical situation at your home. Moritz is clearly doing any lame thing to delay you hime-sama. Stamp on his foot, grab Euphie AND GO!

His plan is probably to use the fascination magicite to mind control the nobles and destroy the discrimination, however the problem is still the same : Nobles have more power than commoners, and what would happen when he dies?

If he really wanted to help the commoners, the best way to do that would've been to help his sister's research as magicology's purpose is to have everyone be able to use magic (and is surely the obvious future of technology in the world)

However, what he really want is probably to be the one in control, the one who saves everyone

At least, that's what I feel about him

Also, the episode was slow probably to not cut in the middle of battle

How the hell did the prince know that Lainie was a vampire and that her magicite could just be pulled out and inserted into his own body and it would still work for his own cause? The whole finding about Lainie was just discovered by Anis and friends and nobody leaked that kind of info, specially on such short time.

If prince charming ends up telling he knew it all along after he gets a beating by Anis, I'll call this a massive asspull.

Nobles in this show are a joke. From Chartreuse and his son's retarded attempt to stop Anis from leaving the castle to Algard's reasoning to bridge the gap between nobles and commoners. Because of course becoming a tyrant will solve the issue, right?

Disappointing episode. Also how did Algard find out about Lainie's condition to begin with?

The most bloody episode yet, but how did the prince know that Lainie was a vampire. I'm starting to really get into Tilty even though shes not really one the "main characters," the face she made when Anis called her an idiot was just stupid funny lol. Also the name Titlty is cool and cute at the same time somehow, especially for her character

Fucking hell. I saw the image of those girls on the floor covered in blood so I immediately watched the episode and things have gotten really serious. Well, starting my morning being very angry is one way to start the day.

The Algard in the manga and the Algard in the LN seem like two completely different. Like Algard in the manga seemed to have been manipulated and was reflecting but this Algard is a BASTARD!! The whole lot of them, him and his followers are absolute bastards. I particularly dislike the guy that was calling Anis mental.

Cant wait to watch Anis kick the shit out of Algard. Seeing Anis use the power of the dragon is cool. Especially when she broke the arm of that scum.

I really hope the rest of the season isnt this serious. Hopefully its just the next episode or two with Algard then we go back to some wholesome Anis/Euphie.

A pretty damn good episode, the series took a surprising dark turn that I welcome, and I was glad that Algard wasn't twisted because of Laine's magicite. It makes me think how he will develop as a character and it makes me think about what he will end up as.

I dont get the hate for Al, I'm rooting for him even if I know that's waste of time. Sure his methods are bit extreme but his intentions are good. It just seems to me that all this at the end of the day is Anisphia's fault. I just hope he can come out of this in a positive way, male characters in these kinds of shows do not fare well.

Suddenly, gore! I had always wanted to see more of Algard, his motives and his actions, and while it did feel like i would have liked a little more fluff to fill it out, this was a very nice episode for him. Not sure if i like the "op powers activate" magic battle that's gonna happen, but we'll see!

Great episode!

We already saw some hints that Al has these kinds of ideals, can't say I agree with his methods, but I have some respect for his goals, the dude needs to be put down forreal though.

I am guessing he didn't want to use Lainie's magicite in the beginning, that's why he wanted to go after the dragon, but since Anis beat her to it, he had no choice, but to donut Lainie. That was fucking brutal. How'd he know Lainie was a vampire though or that she had magicite within her, unless news broke out or they had some way to detect it.

Always satisfying to see cocky individuals get put in their place.

Looks like the next episode is going to bang, can't wait.

Damn episode 8 was terrible. And not because of what happened in it, but because nothing happened in it. BORING. Waste of 20 minutes of my life. What could have been done in 3 minutes took 20. All of the waiting and stalling. Show up to save somebody only to talk it out for 10 minutes holy hell.

If next episode isn't incredible then this show went from like an 8 to a 2. Every episode I'm thinking to myself, when is the payoff for all this build up? Well it hasn't come yet and it's only getting worse.

Just purely speculation on my end, but I believe it was because Anis revealed and helped control of Lainie's power. Their plan probably involved manipulating people to their side, something which has become a lot harder given that Lainie's power is exposed.

To speculate even further, I think Algard was betraying his Ministry contacts here by absorbing Lainie's magicite. I think they wanted him to kidnap her. I say this for two reasons:
1) Algard having the power to control people does not bode well for the ministry, who he sees as one of the stuck up nobles
2) The ministry would appear to be against such acts, given they even blacklisted books mentioning absorption of magicite

I really do appreciate that the show goes in depth on Prince Algard's reasoning, but I wish they didn't reuse the same shots of Ilia injured and Lainie dying so many times. It made the green glowing effect for the healing spell more noticeable and, as a result, looks rather cheap. Another issue that I had was the transition from Lainie getting stabbed to Anisphia and Euphyllia after the lecture event. I find the contrast in tension jarring, especially when you compare the banter between Tilty and Anisphia to the severity of the situation going on at the villa that we saw beforehand.

An Escalation episode as a whole, not what I like the most about this show, but ok can't be always fluffy girls love.
The ministry scene was pure bullshit, so much disrespect torwards the princess of the country is nothing else but treason.
So that rudeness towards Anisphia was hard to believe in the first place.

Algard turned out to be what I already expected, in anime men with blonde hair always have twisted ambitions.
Although I would have never expected that he would be portrayed as so shallow maniac character.
Seriously I wanna see him die with his manhood cut off and stuffed in his royal ...
Anime villains normally don't give me that feeling of pure hatred, but this one does.

Someone please save the kawaii vampire, she is such a pure girl she should not end like this.

well, actually Allie isn't the only person who lnows Cyan has the ability to control/charm people, the ministry higher ups are well aware about it too

well, actually resisting Cyan's charm isn't that difficult, it's shown from how Tilty was able to snap out of the genjutsu because she's already warned by Anis beforehand

Waah, the prince just had to go and do something deranged like nobody's business. Ripping the magicite from his ex-(supporter?), fine. Being a power-seeking emotionless guy, okay. Pushing the magicite into his own chest just like that, and it worked, seriously? ...

Anis is cool and badass, yeah. But the conflict just escalated seemingly out of nowhere. There were signs, sure, but I guess a lot of content was skipped.

It's a pity we didn't have more time for Lainie, her newly-found vampire powers could use more exploration, and it was an interesting concept. And her interactions with Ilia were exquisite. I wish we had seen more, like in peaceful setting. There was definitely something brewing between those two >_<

Cyan could Fully Awaken herself or her magiheart due to Tilty, who's an expert at cursed/dark magic. nobody in Al's side could do that

now Cyan has Fully Awakened, her only role in Al's plan is to be a Doughnut

it's all according to the Keikaku

Algard should be given to a group of cannibals who would devour him while he's still alive. This twisted madman reminds me of some real life evil dictators.

those in the room who tried to delay Anis should be punished as well. Although the soldiers and other lower rank nobles there.. could have the excuse that Chartreuse forced them to do those things.

Damn, this episode took a dark turn fast. Agreed that the Count, the guy that tried to stall Anis which I think is the Count's son, and Algard should be punished once Anis kicks Algard's ass in the next episode.

Ilia is/was a badass and she also possesses magic which I did not know. Hopefully Euphie can heal Lainie but she is in very bad shape. Helluva cliffhanger.
Count's son is evil, characters that wear glasses are always the worst schemers. I am more or less surprised the soldiers loyally obeyed a foolish count that is openly insulting a princess. Dumb soldiers need to be quickly discharged or forever denied promotion.
Anyway, sometimes I wonder who is the real Mastermind.
I can't tell if Algard really "planned everything" or if a group of corrupted nobles are "working behind the shadows" to cause a civil war for the country. From the perspective of the evil nobles, having royal children kill each other is a convenient window for  political optimists to claw their way for the throne.
Notably, I understood why  Algard "became so cold and miserable" due to stress from politics. But I still don't understand why he framed  Euphie in episode 1 for false crimes; that incident made me want the king to give Ozai's "You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher!" treatment on Algard.

It's off-topic from this episode, but did they explain the reincarnation of Anis yet?
We've seen images in Anisphea's mind -- airplanes, telephone poles, etc -- but I think that's all. But 'Isekai' is so well-established as a concept, this story didn't need to explain those memories of modern-day Earth or why a lot of her inventions resemble Earth technology. Anis herself doesn't seem to remember much, and the only bearing it seems to have on her life now is inspiring her love of magic and of flight. It's unusually subtle for an isekai.

Algard's methods make him a villain, but I can see how he got there.

He has seen the divide between commoners and nobles and wants to bridge the gap.

His predecessors tried the non-bloody route and failed.

His sister, whom he considers to be more talented than himself, gave up the throne. He likely viewed this as her escaping responsibility. Ironically, this makes him resentful of his sister and blinds him from usefulness/purpose of her Magicology.

Untalented, demeaned, yet wanting to make a change at what seems like an unchangeable status-quo, but getting held back by talents. The combination of these factors brought about his actions.

But if Anis did not exist, would he still be wrong from a utilitarian perspective? Few Revolutions succeed without bloodshed on nations with such organized power structure.

I saw on another forum someone had a good point; if instead of cute Lainie the vampire was some rando middle age guy, I wonder if Al would receive as much hate after eviscerating him?  lol  I know for my part I'm much more aggrieved because two good looking ladies got messed up than if it was some guy :)

Also much of it for me is not just his brutal methods, but his irritating smug attitude.  "I won't apologize or beg for forgiveness".  oh f' right off you bastard.  I live for seeing pricks like him brought down lol
