Pretty cute episode. In my opinion, best parts were 'Musafire' and 'Kojiflame', and Zenigame showing off, once he saw Satoshi watching his performance.

Looking forward to next week! I have always loved episodes where the main groups get separated and pair off in unique ways.

We are about half way through now, and it does not seem like we will have anyone else joining us.  Thirteen/fourteen of Satoshi's friends have yet to make an appearance, depending on whether or not we count Kenji (because we know he is already in Masara town and will be there when he gets home), so it is unlikely they will fit them all into the remaining episodes. Though it is possible.

We got a lot of Dawn and Iris in JN anyway. Clemont & Bonney had a dedicated episode or two, as did the Alola gang. The only ones we need to see are Tracey, May, Max and maybe Selena since they hardly met properly in JN

this was an ok ep. though honestly, I kinda wish they had ash fully evevole his pokemon in a speed run then end the series on a cliffhanger. (pikachu stepping on a thunder stone. Begins to glow and the end)

As for this ep. it felt like something was missing other than that next weeks preview looks promising. hopefully that caterpie is forshadowing of meeting Butterfree again :3

Again an episode reusing OS scenarios and tropes for nostalgia purposes. I'm very biased for liking it because the Gang of Four has a special place in my heart. I liked that they captured each one's personality, and it's hard not to be entertained by them fighting and interacting with each other having watched the original season as a kid. I still prefer their reunion at Battle Frontier because it was a build-up episode to an important event for Ash where the quartet had relevance in it, while here it was more like nostalgia bait. One episode is just too little for them. I like how their personality was displayed here though. Also:

(+) Finally people casually recognized Ash as World Champion, I hope this happens more often
(+) When I watched Diamond/Pearl back then I could only think about how I shouldn't die before seeing Croagunk and Misty together pulling Brock away, and here we are 13 years later...
(+) When Squirtle hugged Ash at the end the "You teach me and I teach you" came to mind. It may have been an intentional reference to the original opening.

We're about halfway through the series and I'm bothered by the filler aspect of these episodes, but I'm doing my best to gloss over that for the sake of the special occasion and because I believe they're showing different facets of what it means to be a Pokémon Master in each entry. With only the 2 final episodes yet to be revealed, I'm starting to suspect as well that a lot more than I expected about Ash's saga is likely to be left open maybe even without a final goodbye.

A much better episode than last week at least, even teared up a little at that last little goodbye hug from Squirtle. Have to say though, it's very strange hearing Japanese Squirtle lol...

Eh whatever, next episode seems to make parallel to ep 3 of the original series which is one of my favorites, so looking forward to that. Also, the Pikachu-Meowth part seems similar to the TV specials. Even episode means the production is also going to be stronger, I can already see some background animation.

A bit dissapointing of a reunion episode, but stil got a bit watery eyed

seeing the starters team up at the end did remind me that it would have been poetic if Bulbasaur had evolved into Ivysaur all those years back to have one of each stage

I wanted the hug at the end and glad it happened:)

The Caterpie in the preview is Butterfree's child mayhaps...

That would be a complete butchering of everything the series has set up, Pikachu wouldn't suddenly change its mind last minute and it can't be forced either as it will just cancel it out if it stepped on it.

Satoshi already was re-united with Butterfree at the end of Journeys so it seems pointless to have another dramatic reunion after that.

I mean, the whole reason Pikachu is against evolving is because it trusts its own ability to win battles. But after winning Pokemon master there is no real reason to use that excuse anymore. They have reached their goal, If anything in pokemon evolving changes only the appearance of the pokemon their personality stays the same. Besides, with Ash's story coming to an end I find it fitting that him and pikachu mature, Therefore, they take the next step to grow together. I get it it would be controversial but, the Ash adventure is coming to an end. So let them be mad lol.

Edit: Basically the show has been on nearly three decades. This farewell series is for the original audience of pokemon spawning back to the very first ep, and everything in between . Therefore, as the audience has have grown/changed. Having the pokemon of Ash reflect those changes by evolving would be poetic in a sense.

The amount of people complaining either Bulbasaur or Squirtle didn't evolve is baffling, you guys literally missed the point of these characters for 25 years.

I was kinda scared by the fact that squirtle used water gun on an electrical fire, but what do I expect, it's anime

lol misty scared of a venonat, she never changes
oh, it's a show with the 5 squirtles, including Ash's one :D
charizard and bulbasaur had to see it
pfft team rocket are the managers of the 5 squirtles? oh no
the merch looks nice, specially on pikachu lol

team rocket with the original names, musafire and kojiflame lmfao at least this time they had a new speech ... but the main trio still didn't recognise them... really? :D
time to start some fire, and call for the heroes, the 5 squirtles, who quickly started to use the water gun to extenguish the fire
Ash called his squirtle, and he was happy to see Ash, and with that he just made even more effort in the play

next, some pictures and handshakes
unfortunately, Ash didn't get his turn, and left, with squirtle looking at him sad
the show was such a success that they had to get a big meal, including the managers

Ash invaded the hotel and team rocket stopped him again, meanwhile charizard went to squirtle and burned him and the food lmao
squirtle attacked them back, and after that was an all out fight, not even Ash could stop it... until pikachu got mad and burned everyone lols
after that fight, everyone was hurt, so team rocket might be up to no good lol not that it matters, even hurt, any of those pokemons can win a fight vs team rocket

ash and his pokemons were thinking about squitle, and team rocket ... as usual being noobs, got rekt by the hariyama lmao and then came back just to be sent flying again by the camerupt

brock saw jenny and tried his usual tricks, but got owned by the 2 companions lol
there's a fire, and squirtle finally woke up lol time for some real life action
with the help of misty and ash, they managed to somehow stop the fire
after all the fighting earlier, this time the 3 kanto starters worked to gether to save the 3 pokemons on top of the ceiling

there's a 2nd jenny to take back the squirtles, and donate the merch money to restore the warehouse
a nice goodbye hug to squirtle, while Latias is watching, again

lmao the kids saw ash earlier and recognised him, so they want his sign, that's cute
the other 2 are also famous, since they are 2 of the gym leaders from that region

next episode, pikachu and team rocket... oh yawn lol if not for this being ash's final season, i would probably skip next episode
favorite "new girls" from fall <3 (lol i only watched these) ... click sig for older seasons

So glad to see Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charizard back again in the spotlight. Too bad they got off on the wrong foot this time. It was awesome seeing the Squirtle Squad and Ash Team up at the end to put out the fire. The Squad are a perfect part of the original series. Team Rocket were also pretty funny and didn't overstay their welcome this episode. Don't think I didn't notice Latias there at the end too. Another great episode again.

Same, I'm too used to Squirtle's dub voice so this ep threw me for a loop and maybe even made things a bit less nostalgic.
