- i dont care about genre/target/etc so suggest me anything if you think i would like it.
bonus points if its from my fav decade: the 2000s!
- i use the reading list for mangas that im reading in scans.
and the on hold list for (along with mangas… on hold, lol) physical volumes and lns.
- "change your about me to a modern design"... no lol. the biggest reason i moved to mal from anilist is the 2000s design. *D*
not even going to use post-like 2013 anime icons LOL, 100% old aesthetic! if you consider it "cringe", that's on you. >_> i think my layout, etc is retro.
- i accept random requests! lets talk somewhen though, but im still 99% accepting anyway!
- not going to do a long "about me" btw. its not like many ppl'd read or that itd be interesting >_<!
if you somehow want to know me, lets talk instead!
- "why do you have a lot more manga in read?" i have adhd and a low attention span so i find it hard to sit still and watch anime.
while since im moving the pages, reading at my own pace etc i can read manga easily. im trying to find solutions, though.
- "why do you have many dropped series?" i cant bother watching/reading a series that gets good at, like, episode 500.
<<no bro trust me it gets good at chapter 3895 out of currently 3900 chapters>> okay, you sit through that though because i wont.
if i still dont like it after around 3 volumes or 5 eps im dropping, if i didnt drop earlier.

but seriously plz send help I'm so busy and I want my free time back now
I know you know the feeling, so please always take your time with responses. I never take late responses personally or anything like that :3
How did your exams go? That sounds like a lot of studying for you!!
Ohhh, with spaced repetition systems, it's like... you're given a way to memorize a certain kanji, and then, anywhere from a few hours to a few days to a few weeks later, you're tested on the kanji again (based on how well the system thinks you know it). So like... spaced... repetition, aha. You're tested really frequently at first, and then less frequently, to make sure that you've memorized it over time.
I hope your plan goes well with learning from scratch! That sounds like a good plan to me~
And that's nice that your friends have offered to help you study! I really hope it's going well for you! ☆
Oooh thanks for telling me about FE Engage! I'm actually kinda thinking about getting it now since you and so many other people have talked about how good the gameplay is... maybe I just need to get over myself and ignore the story when I play lmao.
Did you still like the cast at least? Or are they also very generic? :3
Omg, Gintama and Bleach?? Those are really long-running shows, right? Um... good luck with that... wow. I want to finally try One Piece this year but I keep getting scared and putting it off because it's so intimidating, so I don't blame you!!
P.S. Happy (really) belated birthday!! ♡ (I noticed people wishing you happy birthday and I'm so sorry I missed it!)
And sorry again for late response ahhhh :3
Let's see let's see... I think you were asking how I started learning Japanese? Mainly through Tofugu (you can look them up online) and WaniKani, then once I sort of built up that foundation, I started using kitsun to drill vocab and stuffs that just won't come up in textbooks or everyday language! Anki is nice too, but I feel like kitsun is easier to use! For grammar, I've used Tae Kim's grammar guide online, and reinforced that with Genki! And lots of random YouTube videos for listening practice and such :3 At least with grammar (and honestly just kanji/vocab as well), I've found it's really just about repetition for me, so seeing stuff repeatedly in a native context is really helpful, and that's why I've gravitated towards SRS (spaced repetition systems) and crying my way through native material aha. My goals are basically reading and listening, so it worked for me, but I know it doesn't for everyone, though! (And I'm sure you'll get a lot out of being in an actual classroom with lessons, too.)
I'm sorry to hear things have been so shitty with your class and teacher, though. Have things improved since we talked last? I wonder if you can get with some of the older students and have them help you maybe... that sounds very frustrating! Maybe things will get better as you spend more time there, idk...
Totally fair that you might sell your switch btw. I've heard such mixed things about FE Engage so I'm kind of glad I saved my money lmao. Good luck with your new year resolutions too!!
...I think one of mine will be to respond to comments more quickly~
(I say as I respond to you over a month later, sorry about that-)
How has your book club been going, that sounds really neat!
Hehe, yeah! I know enough to get around most things with a kanji dictionary and a dream~ Oohh, definitely, the thing I've noticed when trying immersion through just setting everything to Japanese, is that you eventually just end up using muscle memory, like you said. So you memorize where things are, and what the symbols relate to, but you're not actually reading the kanji/hiragana/katakana, and actually utilizing them. It works for some people, but I found that I was just going "oh, ゲーム戻る is the one I press to resume the game" and not "ゲーム戻る = げーむもどる = gemu modoru = to return to the game", for (a simple) example. Idk if you want recommendations, so you can like, ignore this if you want to lmao. But a lot of what I did was using resources like this, because they write out the romanji for you, and adding them to a card deck like Anki (or using user-made decks for katakana practice). Katakana is easier if you just always think about the sounds that they make in the hiragana alphabet, too.
Anywayyy, all my rambling aside, I know you'll get there with lots and lots of practice! And if they're going to teach you all the kanji you need, I'm sure you'll learn more as you go :3 It's awesome that you're learning grammar so early as well!
Lol okay yes, that's exactly why I'm not interested in Engage, it does seem really generic... and I get that it's supposed to be an "anniversary" title, but I'm also not a huge fan of using past characters as gacha-ish characters during normal gameplay. I know some people are genuinely really excited for it, and that's great! but it's just not for me. I know I'll probably still try it once it goes on sale, at least.
I'm sorry to hear about your anemia, that does sound exhausting! Don't worry tho, I'm good on suggestions (but I appreciate the thought)! I've been feeling better already, and mostly I just need lots and lots of rest :3
I managed to find Urusei Yatsura movie 4 bluray on megasale :D
I see, I always go anime first xD, I dunno why but manga feels really bland if the story or character isn't interesting enough but Anime keeps me better. I only read manga if it's really good after i read a bit or only for sequel which chapter hasn't been airing yet
But yeah maybe you should give the anime a try! though some said the last few episodes are lacking but alas that's still a good journey for me hehe
Hahaha that's an understandable feeling yk, can't decide who to put as your account theme ;) I also ended up putting everyone in my about me xD
really sorry for the late reply, I've been sick these few days :(
