Second episode hooked me!

Being a big fan of Land of the Lustrous and never having seen the original Trigun, I can only judge Trigun Stampede on itself … The first episode was ok … but the second, for me, pulled the story forward in a beautiful and engaging way: really looking forward to E3! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Not very impressed.

Kinda odd how they design father & son Nebraska.

The humor of the manga (the excessive side) is not present.

I wonder if the essencre of this licence will be preserve (like Devilman Crybaby for the recent adpatation and remade).

I'm still wating the main course (Gun-Oh-Guns and the manga part wich was not animated before) to decide if I like it or not.

The Good part for this episode : Vash is Vash. I don't see any change of his personality with the manga.

The problem with the remake so far is that they are trying to be too Meaningful, too early. That makes the writing seem trite instead of being comic.

Vash becomes The Running Man, betrayed by even his close contacts. Having only Meryl and Roberto as his source of survival, he can't afford to be complacent in the endeavor of escape, even to the Hard Punched Nebraska professor-Frankenstein duo.

But, finding the Plant is more valuable, and the Stampede comes back to save and duel with both the professor and his son Gofsef, to cease the fighting and save whatever which is lost. But Gofsef being overwhelmed by Lost Technology only to meet his demise, what's going on?

Vash the Stampede in this retelling has changed.

Good episode? This is a fucking joke, in the original Trigun this was an epic boss battle, just watch what they did to Nebraska family...

BTW Old Vash bionic arm was way cooler ...

For all you guys preferring the old one and trashing this retelling do yourself a favor and try to rewatch the OG trigun. I bet you would'nt be able to stomach it and you would drop it very fast iin this day and age since it aged BADLY. Aside from the stand alone episodes and week of the monster format the OG trigun animations are really bad, plot and narrative are okayish and the same gags are repeated over and over.

Only saving grace is the edgy characters art that we all loved as a kid, good soundtrack, and some nice development toward the end with Legato, Rem, Knives etc.

This new one would probably end being a better package.
Its my most watched anime and its aged amazingly. I watch it like, every couple of months.

I'm not trashing the new one either. It's just disappointing so far.

cool sand theme OP.
dunno if it the pacifist mc, but pacing feels off. Action's certainly great & Vash's breakdance skills top, but things keep running back n forth.

Second episode and it was a solid one, very good chase scenes and wonderful opening.
Something I notice with the criticism that this anime receives, is that everyone points to a static image and says "look, look how horrible it looks" but for CGI animation that is the equivalent of criticizing an in between frame of traditional animation, if you see the scenes animated without pause is fluid.

It's not perfect, but the original Trigun wasn't perfect either, a lot of nostalgia makes it look bigger than it was, I like both!
On another note, applause to the voice actors.

I recommend watching the old one first. I can see how it looks perfectly good for someone that has no contact with the show, but seeing how the things that made the original great are mostly cut... It makes me sad! Like the character Milly that is important to a major character coming up being completly cut without a trace being replaced with a far more boring character. Or how the Nebraska fight was a big conflict with him being a pacifist and trying to save people, while here he only shots to save himself from getting shot which very well could have hit the father if he didnt hit the flying bullet. I could list tons of other things like the nebraska bounty being used to save the town but now they are all happy friends or like the humor of the original isnt there and that they just try to imitate than use it (like the faces when he talks to the reporters about him being not guitly).

So I highly suggest watching both to see the differences and experience a classic that (to be honest) everyone should watch atleast once.

Also yes the animation looks clean af and the music is good too
(also you can compare those to other shows released recently, but comparing the animation and music to some extend to the original is very stupid. One released in 2023 and the other one in 1998, a 25 YEAR DIFFERENCE)

2 pizzas or an amunition, a very hard debate that Vash needs to choose each time he pulls out his rifle, nice. Except that the animation is pretty clean.

Plot was good, animation was alright, the pacing was all over the place, at some points i wondered if i skipped ahead in the show, first half was a bit underwhelming but it's still a decent episode.

Another brilliant episode with movie quality art, animation and direction!

Nebraska Family has appeared. The story was of course reimagined to fit the new show. Was it better than in the manga? I say both versions are equal. Just different, but fun to watch. However, the one in Trigun Stampede was less witty and more dramatic, especially in the end, when Gofsef died.

I love this anime's opening. Really well done visuals with a banger playing in the background.

It's not perfect, but it's doing what it needs to do to let us know what these versions of the characters are like. The animation is pretty good during the action, the people saying it looks terrible are just being ridiculous.

So far it's nowhere near the original, but I think people aren't realising that it's not supposed to be like the original all that much. The characters are reimaginings of them, so they aren't going to behave in the exact same way. I think it's better to keep in mind that they have the same names and the same general personality, but individual aspects have been tweaked to fit this series.

yeah, I'm gonna have to dissagree with you there. It's aged about as well as any show from that time, given I first watched it 2 years ago and it's one of my favourite series. I'm more than happy to defend this new series because it's decent enough but isn't being given a fair chance, but that attitude isn't gonna do much but make less people want to agree with you.

the episode itself is decently fun in a bubble but I'm having such a hard time vibing with this show, it just feels like every change they are making isnt enough to feel different so im just watching whats a slightly different story where everything is just slightly worse or less interesting. If they were gonna do this I really wish they committed to a new backstory for vash and in turn didn't reveal it all immediately cause both keeping it exactly the same and showing it instantly really deflates alot.

Meryl has become the worst writing trope ever conceived: the young "looking for my big scoop" reporter. She's animated like that French ladybug superhero CG cartoon. Milly wholesome Thompson is replaced with a boring alcoholic rando. Rem's role feels like a footnote so far, and not a character we're meant to care about as viewers. Like yeah, Vash is sad she died: we just wanted to include her somewhere. The character development of Vash's prosthetic is literally wasted on a gag before he even gets a face reveal. His goofiness is on point but it's no longer used to abate his serious "$$60B bounty" vibe side. And what is with turning his icon .45 Long Colt revolver into a dinky .22 LR plinker?

Trigun (original) still holds up as one of my favorite anime ever. So I'll hear this telling out till it concludes, but this only reminds me the more why the original was so good.

I'm actually enjoying the new one, but to say OG Trigun hasn't aged well is a big stretch just to try to prove the old guys wrong.
Rewatching OG trigun is literrally doing us a favor.
