| Kurima has lost both his father and his lover Yui, and falls to the only thing that keeps him alive: revenge. This is the same for Yuen, which the group cannot justify Kurima's inclusion when it comes to rewards being taken from the Chapel and split among the members. For Dr. Teppa, encountering the red-light district courtress Mana in a state where she wants revenge against her former husband for his gambling debt that was nothing but a farce, everything was taken away from her. Except the gold mon that didn't have the teeth marks on it, and that's two targets earned. Oh ho, so that was meant by "Revengers": the gold mon with teeth marks from people who wanted retribution against people they've been betrayed against, it's a request for justification to kill without mercy, according to the depth and severity of the bite. This bitten gold coin from Mana, it's her personal vendetta to be resolved, and this sets an uneasiness for Kurima. Well then, it's time for the execution, and Teppa's weapon of choice: a fully mechanized bow that could shoot as far as the user's range allows (plus the clothes stripping of course), Kurima borrowing Teppa's spiked boots for the final strike, and the rest is as normal. A samurai's skill: the shriek. |

| The doctor seems the most interesting to me. The group is pretty twisted morally, and I am surprised how easily they sway our samurai pal to join in. I get it wouldn't be much of a show if he had killed himself but given what we know of his character I think that would have been the more likely choice. |

| The music in this one is just top-notch, all the way through. The saxophone ensemble @ 6:31 is a rare thing to hear, and the spaghetti western-style stuff around the 20 minute mark is glorious. OP is fire and ED is fabulous. Exceptional work. That underground Nagasaki christianity sure does have a different flavor than I'm used to seeing in anime. The haunting broken-down chapel with western-style tombstones inside and a beat-down, weathered Mary really do hit different, not to mention that back tattoo. It's interesting historically-relevant stuff for me. The depth of the bite marks in the gold is what determines the conviction/severity of revenge. Ok, I'll buy that for a dollar. Nice to see the gold-foil mask of death make a return appearance. The artwork is exceptional, too. I was particularly taken by the intensity of the dying prostitute scene. This stuff is high-grade and although it's sleeping now, I'll wager it will eventually be seen as well above average. I'm definitely sticking around to see where this story goes. Edit: Also, nice comfortable, solid character development. |
| Hm, this was a bit disappointing honestly. The “tools” feel kind of ridiculous, and there’s no longer much of a plot. The first episode was very good, but this was mediocre. |

| Honestly I was thinking of maybe dropping this week. Idk if it's because my mind was somewhere else last week during the first episode but I just did not enjoy it. Watching this second episode now though, this was awesome! Definitely coming back next week! |

| Ugh. A bit disappointing. There's no reason the MC shouldn’t have killed himself (or at least made the attempt) after finding his fiancé dead. Everything we learned about the character from the first episode should have led to that. I can’t see him shrugging off her death and just moping out of her residence. If someone stopped him or if he learned that she had been killed instead and thus needed to avenge her, him being alive would have worked. Without some reason, the show kind of lost me… … …And then they started with the stupid physics…. Godlike archery strength and ridiculous feats of jumping. I really thought this show was going to be a bit more grounded…. Oh wells…. |
| Two episodes in and this show is starting to become a banger. I'm starting to taking a liking to this Teppa character, he's actually quite handsome and very ripped when he shot that harpoon like a cannon. When the samurai MC let out that war cry I couldn't help but get goosebumps as my hairs were standing straight up. Looking forward to the next episode. |

| The second episode felt like Part 2 of a pilot, but with Raizou as part of the Revengers, everything should be settled now. I do hope this will develop a solid plot now. The characters and moral debates are interesting at least. |
| Anyone else get Fena vibes from this show? The wacky ragtag group and western influences mixed with Japanese society reminds me a lot of that show. This episode was pretty chill, nice set up. Dude getting sliced in half was hilarious. Nio luring old dude into the mask trap was also great. I’m intrigued. |

| hard to watch that start after we know what happened last episode... i don't think Deus said anything about revenge lol "when your pay comes short you need to get more somehow" by gambling and losing it all? :D uff that woman, i guess she is dying, but damn she looks weak revenge on a man who likes gambles lol i kinda thought about that guy from our main team since he went to gamble, but probably not, maybe we will see them play together later in the episode? oh, so that's why the old guy bit a gold coin after mc killed him, i thought it was to help himself with the pain, but it's meant as a revenge thing wtf that big guy with the bow LOL his clothes ripped and he even steamed :D that big guard wasn't very helpful huh the part where mc cut that guy head was funny too, seeing his head flying Nio playing with the guy at the end was really funny, might be my favorite scene on this anime so far |

| The show is really doing it for me, glad I could get over the character design, which was my biggest but so far only qualm. They made sure to make it quiiite obvious early on that Nio is a boy, so anyone not getting it has no excuses from this point onward. The thing about judging the "depth of the bite" was a cute remark and so far the death scenes have been cool. Really enjoyed the whole segment on the "bimbo red district" as well. No tears, no cheese, just make sure if you are going to hell, fuck all the rest and take who you can with you. Again, while the chara design is a bit jarring, really enjoying the more somber and realistic approach to the "society" and interpersonal relations depicted thus far. That was however my hopes from the start seeing Nitroplus attached, since I started being a fan around the Demonbane era kuroneko99 said: I forgot to tell you something in the discussion for episode 1. As you can see at the beginning of this episode as well, the legs of the protagonist's fiancee were tied together when she killed herself. It's a manner for a lady to keep decent posture after her death. (Incidentally, women in this era didn't wear panties.) Pretty neat detail, had no idea, thanks for sharing! |
