Jesus Christ, Junpei really needs to watch himself. Almost getting killed by Mio's shadow...yikes.

Still a very complicated situation with the loop and threats of Shadow in the wild. Oh and I kinda like Ushio's role this episode as she isn't afraid to speak her mind.

To be honest I thought it was just Shinpei who can loop around between timelines, but no Ushio can do the same too. Though we don't know why, so let it be what it is right now. Still we just can't have an episode without the usual gore stuff, can we? Well they eliminated Mio’s shadow for the time being, so that’s what it matters.

Well apart from it, the episode felt a bit lighthearted for the most part, not something we usually see so a good change I guess. Though what’s with that video in the end?

8 chapters covered, with multiple cuts (everything related to Tokiko)..

Overall, good episode tho, but I wonder how they'll be able to get back at these precious informations left unsaid...

I agree with you. When
, added more mistery to the story. Well, i think that it could be a decision from the staff, maybe they want to give this information later on the show idk. I have no complaints on this episode, the animation is flowing godly.

The cuts makes a lot of sense. Since they want the story to force on the Shinpei's perspective, showing less unrelative information would prevant something interrupt the storytelling, also that "information" would make things way too obviously, so rather than just save it for the later reveal.

This episode was a bummer, lots of dialogue got cut from manga, no back sound to create mood atmosphere when Shinpei talking to Ushio... and the animation feels rough (certainly it's downgrade compare ep7)...

about that scene, I think that's crucial information for Shinpei, he need to know who is on enemy side and who is ally because of Shadow ability can copy human and their traits.

I hope next episode become better.

Mio moments were so tense this week. Love how they nulled us to sleep last week with shinpei walking in on mio cooking with the knife, turns out it’s actually her, then we get shadow mio actually attacking him this week when his guard is down.

Nezu was clutch as hell for that shot.

Ushio being able to loop actually isn’t that shocking to me. In earlier episodes we saw her when shinpei was going thru the time portal type thing as well as hearing her voice. What remains to be seen is the limits of she and shinpei’s looping ability.

Animation was a little wobbly today and based on what I’ve seen from source people, there were some cuts so hopefully this isn’t a trend going forward. Still a really good episode

8 episodes in we finally have our second fanservice.

Now that Shadow Mio attacks Shinpei inside the house, and the fact that Sou knows Shadow Ushio's presence, it's safe to say the rest won't go the same way as it did in the previous loops. I think the animation quality drops a bit but it's nothing ruining my experience. Still a candidate for the best anime this season!

This detailed Mio scene is really fucking creepy.

Edit: so in the manga they show more of Ushio's nude, her nippies are drawn too.

In the dark side, the episode is up on Anidex, but I won't give a link here.

-----

As for the episode, after reading the manga's corresponding chapters, I gotta say that I didn't like it.

Too much things were skipped, and most scenes are jumping too fast, leaving me a feeling of it being rushed.

Covering 5 chapters per ep was visibly a good pacing, but 8 ? It's just skipping too much at once.

AHH THEY COULD'VE CLIFF IT with
but good episode nonetheless however, they literally adapted 7-8 chapters in this episode so I'm hugely worried about the pacing of the overall series because that's a lot but I get that as the chapter progresses, it gets shorter in length as there's more battle and less theory wise later on.

Man, it just keeps getting better and more interesting to watch.

Such irony when Shinpei said that the shadow never comes inside of the house while we see the shadow walking in the house. LOL

Those facial expressions were on point in this episode.
Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! Exactly, it's like all the staff changed, they had low budget and deadline to delivery the episode. It was awful, and it's worse because it was actually being a pretty good anime to anime, with a good narrative pace in the episodes, but ep8 just killed all of it with bad direction towards the dialogs, statical silly faces, no background music and it needed and rushing to advance in the story.

Certainly something happened, and I would like someone more well informed than me to tell us...what happened with the production of this anime?

the episode flowed nicely but as others said in the comments they skipped some important dialogue and some scenes but finally the recording has come to light and now we know that ushio is behind hizuru’s return

shinpei’s reactions were pretty funny i was wondering if they would adapt them and they did lol and they were quick to pass too so i don’t get why some people are complaining about it i think it’s a nice change to his behavior as he is always faced with struggles, when ushio came he can relax a bit in a way
anyways upcoming ep is gonna be great hope they will animate it like ep 7

Shinpei's reaction to Ushio suddenly popping outta nowhere, and Ushio dro ffpping the reveal that she knows what's gonna happen on the July 24th summer festival, it's uncanny.

This past feels different with Ushio's inclusion, but her being a Shadow isn't discounted that can be discerned by the literate human shadow. Shinpei and Ushio's history seems like the typical love relationship affair, and that's the only way that Shinpei can be sure that it's her in the flesh, except that her swimsuit is the only thing that it copied.

Mio might not have realized that Ushio is indeed with Shinpei, but the copy sure did, and it's relentless on the face of death that Shinpei lived another day through Nezu's sniper counterattack. Hizuru looks ready to do her job, but Ushio shielding Shinpei, Shadow or not, feels genuine to let her be alive, and even if Hizuru will not stand for this, this is as the best compromise they can do for trust.

A word of warning to Mio that she will be potentially copied while it acts as a cover for Ushio, and Sou is the only trustworthy person now for her to show her face to him.

The cut content this time is very noticeable, going at 2X the speed of the usual adaptation rate of 5 chapters per episode. Just wishing that they'd go back to cover lost material in future episodes.

Being a reader of the manga, you should not be afraid of the cuts that have been made.

They are for the most part not important for the plot and only serve at best to better develop the characterization of the characters.
It is for the moment of the cut of intelligent adaptation.

As for the cut information that are important and serve as a revelation, I think with hindsight that it's a good idea to cut them to make the future plot twists that will be linked to them much more powerful.
Because yes in the manga I find that there were some revelations that were revealed a little too early, which lessened the impact during the plot twist.

And I remind you that there are inevitably cuts because if we do the calculations it would have taken about 27-28 episodes in all to adapt everything and not 25.

So far, even with this episode, I find the manga adaptation very solid.

This is probably the episode with the most cut content thus far. Pacing is fast but not enough to cause a train wreck as of yet.

As a manga reader this is probably the only episode I would say that the adaptation fell short of the manga. While the plot still flows smoothly, many interesting details and reveals that made me went WTF when I was reading have been intentionality left out. There's also a noticeable drop in animation quality especially during the action scenes. This might have earned the ire of some manga readers, especially when the previous episodes were so well done but this week's episode clearly is a far cry from the usual standard. To be fair it's still a great job from the studio to maintain such consistent animation quality for 7 episodes straight tho.

Cut content are part and parcel of adaptations, I shall respect the director's decision and hopefully the skipped content will be brought back tactfully in future episodes, and that the anime will slow down and return to its usual pacing in the next episode.

I'm really hoping they put the cut content back in later episodes. I haven't read the manga but since I'm watching the show to the end, I expect they would keep most of the stuff from the manga. It would be stupid not to since it's been great so far.
