Looks like nobody has made an offical thread for this movie yet 1 year in. I just watched it so I guess I'll make it for my 100th post :D.

Good movie, I liked it a lot more than I expected going into it. Definitely my favorite of the alternate universe series so far. Koko was an interesting character and made for a refreshing experience. Bad guy was obvious but the researchers were unbelievably stupid. They come in with a fricking mech destroying everything in their path and then ask "Why are these Pokemon attacking us?". Oh I wonder why.

Still the animation was good and it was visually pleasing and just an entertaining experience all along, even if the story was a little weak.

I just finished watching the movie and thought it was fantastic. The animation was stunning and pleasant to see. I enjoy Koko and Dada's relationship as well. I was also caught off guard when Ash mentioned his father for the first time in a long time.

Genuinely the best Pokemon movie I've seen in such a LONG time. Like the last Pokemon movie I truly loved was "Rise of Darkrai" and that was THIRTEEN movies ago. I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this movie honestly since their recent releases have been clearly uninspired cashgrabs. I mean it's not the first time they did a nature vs humans type of plot but I think this one executed it better than the Celebi movie even if it's less flashy. Guess it also helps that Ash took a backseat so Koko and Zarude's characters could shine. Just a very heartwarming story about parenthood and unity. Loved it.

I think this might be the first time they ever showed an actual murder by humans in the whole franchise that was treated seriously and not just a gag lol. I could be wrong.

7/10

Never knew a Pokemon movie can be this good! Movie was very fun and serious at the same time. Also fun to see characters from Team Rocket as well.

while im so tired of the “legendary pokemon that talks” trope for almost every movie (thanks Mewtwo), this one is pretty good. almost similar to movies like Ferngully. at least it doesnt have some world ending catastrophe like most others

Wow, this was disappointing.

For those who don't know, the first 3 Pokemon movies were legit good movies, the third one especially so. After movie 3, the quality of the Pokemon films substantially dropped in quality (both in production values and the actual storytelling), and pretty much became mediocre trash you would only watch on Cartoon Network if you were really bored. But the last Pokemon movie, The Power of Us, was surprisingly good, and saw a return to form in high production values. It seemed like the Pokemon Company was serious about making good movies again.

Then we got... this. First there is the production values. Not only is the nuance in the last movie's animation gone, but now you have shoddy 3D CGI everywhere, from the characters in the background to the mech that is far too detailed and shiny for the cartoon environment it is supposed to inhabit, and just looks bad when you have simple 2D drawn characters standing in front and on top of it. Then you have the story. The first half was "okay", but then the second half of the movie devolves into your plot about a rich businessman trying to exploit some power at the expense of the Pokemon who depend upon that power. The exact same plot that defied 15 years of formulaic, trashy Pokemon movies that the last one renounced so fervently.

I guess I might be biased given how I experienced this movie. I saw The Power of Us in theaters, so I may have walked out of the theater with a more grandiose impression of that movie than it actually was, whereas here I just watched Koko on a TV. Anyway, I wonder if the Power of Us was just a fluke and the Pokemon movies are still going to be overall trashy.

Not recommended.

Pretty much agree with the last few posts. It was alright. I rated it a 5/10. It wasn’t bad but it just uneventful and forgetful. The animation quality has definitely dropped and the story was very generic. I wouldn’t mind seeing Koko show up again though.

Finally I finished all the pokemon movies

The question remains whether the boy Tarzan Koko will be reused and perhaps appear in a future series...

Man was movie was actually great. I ahd low expectations given it was the whole "wild child" premise but it was executed amazingly. Sure the ending was a bit cheesy but bow howdy did it have me sobbing.

After many mediocre Pokemon movies, I found this one and "The Power of Us" to be quite good. My favourite part was when Koko used the healing move to help his Dada.

Man, it's been 4 years without a new Pokemon movie... I wonder if we get a new one anytime soon

Woaw it's been a long time since I really felt something with a Pokemon Movie. I watched the 3 recent ones too (the reboot, 2019...), they were... alright I guess. But this one really felt like a old movie from before Gen 5.

But it's also very different, it's not the "Ash go somewhere, meet some humans during an adventure and there's a sad farewell forever at the end, knowing we'll never see those characters ever again..".

Ash and Koko didn't know each other for long enough to feel the emptiness of saying goodbye, you mainly feel it between Koko and his father since they got most of the screentime... Ash is almost irrelevant here, he's just fanservice at this point no wonder they needed to get ride of him for the new tv series lol
I'll miss theosemovies still though.

And frankly Koko leaving like this is kinda lacking and rushed. I mean he never lived in a human society so, it's a whole new world for him ????
