not even proper ending. anyway, it's predictable cancellation. other than main duo, everything else about this is uninteresting. 6/10.

Well not like author can do anything with just a single chapter, so it is what it is. Unfortunate but still hope any of his next works don't see the same fate.

Back then I didn't follow anime related news or anything and it took me ny surprise, in an unexpected wtf type of way that is.

I actually felt like this was a surprisingly good and heartwarming ending for a mediocre series that had always been struggling to find it's footing all the way until the end.

That ending makes you know dam well the story aint resolved lol. Such a shame its gone, but it is what it is. Hope this doesnt damage Yuji Kaku's rep as a mangaka, cause the man got serious chops. Interesting to see how this will affect the rollout of the Jigokuraku adaptation .

yeah, not really much they could do to salvage the ending in an interesting way. open endings are the most common type, if not just overly rushed ones, which this, thankfully, wasn't. anyways, wishing luck for their next work

I saw the AXE coming from miles away... The fact the MC was so bland. His role in the whole story was almost at level zero. I've seen far better manga than this one gets the axe. Sadge

What a shame ๐Ÿ˜” It had a lot of potential and I really liked Maruo as protagonist, but I kinda get why the series didn't click with the readers. I personally enjoyed it overall though, and I'll look forward to Kaku's next work.

Well, it was just a bit too bland. It had a great powersystem and worldbuilding but the characters were really just one dimensional. A cliffhanger ending on top of that xD. Well, can't ask for more IG. It was aight.

Not surprised it got axed. Really liked JigokuRaku (read like 5 volumes or so) but this is just just generic garbage, not interesting at all. Fights are meh too, MC is just Saitama in different clothes. Shouldn't have picked it up again after dropping at ch.3. Artist should find himself some talented writer or come up with something more interesting.

It's been years and still too soon to bring up Hungry Joker. I remember liking that series.

They were already gearing up to fight Doppo again. All they needed were a few more chapters. Shame.

There was no way they were going to wrap it up in one last chapter. Overall this last arc showed the power of their gang could defeat the big bad and it never about power but the friends we made along the way. I wish there was more but overall enjoyed what little there was while wishing for what could have been.

I cannot believe that they went and dropped this series like this? Author apparently has some bad blood with Shueisha. I can't explain it any other way. This series was better and more popular then other shonen jump manga such as Me & Roboco, Earthchild, High School Family, Protect Me Shugomaru, and Elusive Samurai. All these subpar series should've been axed loooong before Ayashimon should be consider. But they have some people high up in shonen jump that don't know how to run good business. Instead they seem to pick favorites with people they personally have connections with. That is the only explanation I can think of for such a wild choice. You would think the creator of a great series like Jigokuroku would be given more respect then get axed like this.

Those are all a lot better than Ayashimon, apart from Earthchild and maybe Shugomaru, and it's doubtful those two have much longer either.

Idk man you really think so? I'm kinda surprised to hear someone actually defend Me & Roboco or High School Family. I just don't find a gag humor manga to be all that captivating of a story. I would much rather had Ayashimon over any of the series I listed. Honestly if I could pick one to axe instead. My go too choice would be Protect Me Shugomaru. I think Ayashimon is just all around better story and art style then any of the series I listed though.

A shame. Ayashimon wasn't the greatest, but I was still enjoying it. Now that it got axed, the meta pages last chapter definitely seems like a metaphor now for the series' fate. Red Hood flashbacks. Didn't even give Kaku-sensei enough time to at least set-up a proper ending. Well, I still more or less enjoyed it overall even if it had flaws. 7/10

It the other way around, Ayashimon is the least popular series on Jump. Why do you think it stayed at the bottom for most of it run? Also Shugo already been scheduled to follow Ayashimon next and Earthchild first volume still haven't come out so they haven't decided yet.

Finally, the problem here is Ayashimon ain't competing with those series, it was competing with stuffs like MHA, BC, Sakamoto Day, UU,... other battle Shonen. They are in completely difference categories so why should Jump axe those series, leading to a hole in their roster for Ayashimon?

Well I mean in terms of myanimelist. There is more popularity for ayashimon then the rest of the series that I listed combined and I saw that like 16000 copies of ayashimon vol 1 was sold in the first week. I would say for a new series that is pretty good. I don't necessarily think that shonen jump has to have a plethora of differents genres. I say they should shoot for better quality instead of quantity. I would have much rather got more ayashimon then more Protect Me Shugomaru. They both hit chp 25 and can you really sit there and tell me you think Shugo is better?

MAL popularity mean jack shit. Jump always has a diverse roster, that is one of the reason the succeed and stay at the top since if they just focus in one genre, they would lost the audiences of other genres to other magazine. And WSJ don't care about Shugo or Ayashimon, whichever end first is still ending to them. And 16k copies is very low for a new series by veteran, Elusive Samurai also come from a veteran and it got way higher sale. Not only that, it doesn't change the fact that no one care enough for Ayashimon to vote for it, thus it was living at the bottom of the TOC along with Shugo and Doron for the last 3 months.

I will say too I am a fan of all the series so this is all just a minor critique from me. I'm just sad to see Ayashimon gone because I thought it was better then all the series I listed. I don't even care to much about the popularity. I more or less am speaking personally because it was one of the chapters I looked forward to most every week. Jigokuroku was sick and I loved to see more from the mangaka.

If Builds King got 5 extra chapters in last volume (also eg Red Hood, TPGW, Bones Collector) I think Ayashimon will get one or two chapters as a proper ending in final volume.

Bruh more chapters are needed to build up the fights and explain the character's reasoning like Doppo's
craziness and finish off the fight, unfortunately, the series got axed and this is lowkey an embarrassment in a bad way I'm a fan of the author's other work Hell's Paradise but this one is struggling in most fundamentals throughout the storyline.

It was a fun ride while it lasted. While the story couldn't be resolved adequately, the author choosing to focus on the main themes of friendship and connections and quickly wrapping up Haruo's character arc with a fresh perspective on his own strength and purpose was probably the best move. It at least offered some kind of conclusion.

Man, it's a shame it had to get cancelled altogether instead of just moving to another magazine. I was really enjoying this. Never read Jigokuraku, just waiting for the anime instead, but wasn't that manga really successful? It's a shame their follow up manga, Ayashimon, couldn't be just as successful.

Finished this today and I'm really sad it was canceled. It's not an original story or complex, but I liked the characters and Maruo as the protagonist. Also I read Ayashimon before reading the author most famous manga, Jigokuraku, so I had fun reading and comparing one manga with the other was not a possibility.

Fun read, better than most of the famous action shounen. 8/10.

This was pretty average, though it did not feel like a complete waste of time either. Many users above me have leveled some criticisms that I share the sentiment with. Whilst the premise and setting are quite interesting it is still undeniably generic and filled with common shonen tropes. The casts are also bland and underdeveloped with lackluster motives and goals. The 4th wall breaking is not helping its case either.

It had potential but the author failed to deliver it. Well, as unsatisfactory as it might be, at least we got some kind of closure which is nice.
