Heh, Nagomu can be a bit sensitive sometimes.

This episode was okay, with Kanoko being featured more and I'm starting to like more of her personality. Got to see a little bit more of Itsuka's background and childhood, and I think it's adorable.

The flashbacks of the dad were nice, he seems like a nice guy from the little bits we saw of him ... but then again he abandoned his kid, a man who does that is irredeemable. The new girl, Kanoko, seems nice too, but what is with these good for nothing protagonists scoring best girls, i mean she's obviously here because of the main-kun after all.

The Yoiyama Gion Matsuri, where both Nagomu and Itsuka have relatively different experiences of loved ones, the most prominent being Itsuki finding her missing father from a passing resemblance. And when word goes out, Nagomu rushes out in a hurry.

Kanoko Matsukaze makes her debut, and is someone whom Nagomu wanted to bring as his former girlfriend but got dumped instead so much that she stress eats mitarashi dango. I mean, when you're dating for 10 years and suddenly your significant other just ran back home being so carefree, yeap. Anyways, Itsuki got back to school, and that's what matters.

Bringing Kanoko back to Ryokushou, and Nagomu essentially got a reality check by her as well, oh man Nagomu's such a useless bump. And for someone whom prefers Western sweets, she digs into wagashi sweets like she knows them by heart. And the Yoiyama festival, Nagomu is becoming more of a father figure to Itsuki, which speaks volumes.

A chill episode.

OHHH..... It's Gion matsuri, one of the three biggest festivals in Kyoto.
Wakaayu with red bean paste originated from the Kanto region and Kanoko comes from Tokyo. Well, that makes sense.
tbh, Nagomu and Kanoko should get back together and resume their relationship.

I feel sorry for Itsuka who is still tied to her father :(

Anyway, Nagomu met his ex-girlfriend Kanoko, which was random.

I fell in love with Kanoko at first sight. She's attractive.

In the last scene it was heartwarming to see Itsuka slowly considering Nagomu to be her surrogate father.

And I'm also assuming that Itsuka father on the bus is real because he's probably looking for Itsuka as well because he probably regrets abandoning her.

Looks like there’s some serious misunderstanding between Nagomu and Kanoko regarding their relationship. Well, at least Kanoko is in Kyoto so they can talk it out and clear things up. She clearly still has feelings for him and it seems like it’s mutual.

I really feel bad for Itsuka. Her dad honestly sounds like a real deadbeat. Kid is chasing after someone who literally abandoned her. I’m surprised the kid doesn’t hate her old man, it would be pretty understandable in her situation. Her dad is totally undeserving of her love. Nagomu is a much better father figure. He’s there for her and he cares, that’s more than anyone can say about her pops.

This has been bugging me since episode 1 but Itsuka's father looks a hella lot like Nagomu's bandmate senpai. Now I wonder if there will be any connection between those two later on...
And the woman from next episode's preview looks like an adult Itsuka. Just saying.

Anyways, another heartwarming episode. As for Kanoko, she's attractive and cute and all that but the fact of her abandoning MC just because he understandably prioritized his family over her leaves a lot to be desired.

Well Itsuka still needs to get over her father but it needs to be done fast i understand she wants to see her father but if she keeps following random men she will get in danger which isn't good.
And the reunion was funny guess the guys need to set a lot right if they keep working together like that but it will be interesting the see what happens next.

Great episode, Kanoko met her ex-boyfriend Nagomu by chance in the street of kyoto
they had a little chat in that car
I wonder, it's very weird the love relationships of the Japanese, I ask myself this question, the Japanese have trouble assuming their affective relationships and their emotions

Kanoko told Itsuka that Nagomu left him to choose this family instead of Kanoko! what a liar this woman, even if she is nice, she is the one who leaves her EX just because the Wagashi (Japanese pastry) is not her thing...

Nagomu invited Kanoko to the family restaurant
she meets Itsuka again, Kanoko told Itsuka to act as if she didn't know each other, then they ate and chatted together, it was nice from that onwards, I think she wanted to protect her from their meeting in Kyoto !

then in the evening they go to the fesyival at the Gion festival, it was great as an atmosphere, it was nice with all these bright colors...

how is their relationship between Kanoko and Nagomu progressing?
does kanoko still have feelings for nagomu?
it's a little too great to know, and without forgetting the little Itsuka
who thinks and is still looking for his missing dad! Mom Itsuka I don't have the information for the moment... we'll see as the episode progresses.

I'm waiting for the next episode

So Nogomu ran into her ex-girlfriend Kanoko while looking for Itsuka at Sanzen-In temple. Don't know why she came all the way from Tokyo to Kyoto, but it looks like she's going to be a regular at the shop. Itsuka gets to go to festival with Kanoko although its bittersweet not being able to go with her father at least she can enjoy the festival with Nogomu.

Caught up to the show and watched today’s ep as well. Was gonna skip over this one but I’m glad I didn’t. A really wholesome and heartwarming show. Reminds me of Hanasaku Iroha mixed with Uchi Musume.

Kanoko just made what was already a great show into an even better one. Really loved she and Nagomu’s dynamic today. She’s so cute

Feel really bad for Itsuka. She desperately needs a dad. Looking forward to seeing how everyone grows together as a family.

Nope, can't say I like Kanoko really. I feel like she's particularly emblematic of the show's problem with constantly undercutting its serious tone: her misunderstandings with Nagomu don't really make sense and are just not overly funny, and I felt like her introduction undercut the tension of Itsuka being lost in Ohara. The continued physical violence at Nagomu's expense is also continuing to be remarkably unfunny, and I kinda feel like the show is really tripping itself up with this weak humour.

That said, I still felt really bad for Itsuka after seeing that she still hopes or believes that her father will come back for her one day, despite all evidence to the contrary. And while I didn't need Kanoko to spell it out so obviously, it's nice to see that Itsuka is starting to accept Nagomu as a surrogate father of sorts.

With the way this seems to be going, I'm very much expecting that her father will end up coming back and the cour will end on some drama relating to that, but maybe I'll be proven wrong.

This was a good one, after Itsuka skips school to follow someone that looks like her dad from behind, we meet Kanoko, Nagomu’s ex girlfriend, and from the looks of it their breakup looks like a misunderstanding from both sides lol, hopefully that means they’ll end up together again at some point because I love the moments those two had. I also loved the genius method of hypnotizing the shop owner to give Nagomu more time to find Itsuka, and it ended up taking 30 tries to snap him out of it lol, the best method.

I also loved the festival bit at the end, Kanoko looked nice in her yukata, and it helped Nagomu and Itsuka get closer in a really nice scene. And it looks like Kanoko is here to stay since she got a job nearby in Kyoto, yeah I definitely hope she gets back with Nagomu at some point lol.

Also nice to see some folks enjoying the show more after this episode, I’m definitely really into this one myself, such a nice show to end the day with too.

I like how viewers here misunderstood the misunderstanding between Nagomu and Kanoko. Misunderstand-ception?

Nagomu reads the letter and tells Kanoko that he’s going back to Kyoto indefinitely to look after the shop and asks her to come along. Kanoko thinks he’s joking given his personality while also getting mad at him for not considering her view and situation first, hence “I like western sweets more” (obviously a lie given how much she knows about local sweets). Kanoko comes back later on and finds a note saying “I’m sorry” and realizes that it wasn’t a joke. Technically, Nagomu did dump her and chose his family over her. Kanoko also feels guilty and regretful for not properly discussing it with him.

I think Kanoko doesn’t mind going to Kyoto with him. It’s just that it happens so suddenly that she needs time to plan and settle everything in Tokyo first. IMO, Nagomu is in the wrong here because he decides everything so quickly due to not having any responsibility and liability in Tokyo such as job, rent, loan, family etc, while Kanoko is in the opposite.

Ah i just realized that Itsuka father actually Matsuoka. Holy shit, harem king abandoned daughter here while pursuing his dream xd.

I like how the direction of the dialogue between Itsuka and Kanoko was about Nagomu and Itsuka story being paralleled. Now its about Gion Matsuri, promised from the past, and how they both dumped because of pretty much 'same' reason. Alright...

A misunderstanding over a misunderstatement, a very complicated matter occured between Nagomu and his ex, after the past event happened. Its almost makes me more misunderstood of it xd. But very glad everything solved out well enough and literally ended with another happy conclusion with their visit at those nice little festival. Because somehow Itsuka actually led them reunited again, and will be recurring indefinitely for the later part of episodes. Nice!

Also, yeah, its also nice having a cute Itsuka moment, slowly opened up her heart to the carefree-easygoing guy like Nagomu to be a 'stand-in' father. Lets see next....

I seriously hate how stupid the guy is ...
Everybody else is capable and good at what they are doing, from the old parents to his (ex) girlfriend, and even the child, but the guy is so annoyingly inept at basically everything, even music, which should be his strong suit, he doesn't seem to be good at.
Easygoing and free spirit doesn't mean inept at everything, everybody should have something they are good at, so far we haven't seen anything he is even not the worst at.

Felt really sad for Itsuka at the first half of the episode, but hey, at least she has a stand-in mother and father now that are better than her real parents :D. Looks like we're meeting her real mother though, I wonder why she left in the first place.

Hokay.
I don't know that we know how long Nagomu and Kanoko were an item prior to his heading back home in response to what he was informed of as a major emergency; some seem to think it was from the day he arrived in the town she was in, and i kinda doubt that.
I'll grant that he tends to not project to the world a This is Serious, Very Very Serious vice even when that really is the case, but I'd also argue that if they'd been together a significant period of time... she should have known that.
As well as knowing that there are things he wouldn't joke about, despite whatever his demeaner said.
Given what all she knows about Japanese sweets of the type the family shop carries, and that she knew what a stab to the heart saying, "I like Western Sweets" would be as an exit line, it does argue for an extended period of time associating with each other.

Thus, I'm with Nagomu in regard to his thinking she dumped him being a valid perception of things.

I'm having a slightly harder time wrapping my mind around, "Yeah, stab him in the heart, now I'll go back and we can laugh about it, wait he's gone? What, for real? The [redacted] dumped me!"

I'm not seeing how one can sy he choose family over her when she herself admits the offer was there to go with him and she didn't do anything one could consider discussion or negotiation, just behaved such that it was reasonable to think she'd delivered not just a "No," but a "Hell, no!"

Guess that says something concerning how I view the world, I guess.

Outside of that, Kanoko seems like a nice gal.
And much more effective in a public service position.

Actually, the latter might be relevant.
You spend all your time being pleasant and smiling and courteous, etc., when dealing with asshat customers, you might be a tad shell-shocked when not 'on-stage' and not be at your best.
I can be that way.

So, mitigating circumstances are possible.

We'll see what she's like going forward.
The next episode preview indicates she is wise enough to not get hired at the family shop given all the unresolved issues there, but did find work at a similar establishment, but not a direct competitor, nearby.

---

I've mixed feelings concerning Itsuka's pops.
He did abandon her.
He did first get someplace where he thought, correctly as it turns out, that the folks there would care for her properly.
How they're doing that without legal guardianship papers baffles me a bit, but, hey, it's fiction.

---

Itsuka is young, OK?
It's reasonable, to me at least, that she's still hoping her pops will come back; from her various flashbacks there were good things about their life together.

---

Nagomu may be a tad inept at times (What? Really?!), but his strength is that he cares.
Mind, that's also a downside when it comes to selling their sweets, but hey, it's better than other potential character flaws, OK?
When asked to go home after ten years away due to his father's ill health, he did so with no hesitation.
When he learned Itsuka was missing, he dropped everything to go looking for her, and found her.

So I'm none too pleased with those thinking the story would be better without him.

---

Anyway, enough of that.
I enjoyed the episode very much.

We got a ton of backstory in a manner that made it not be an info dump.
We got to see some pretty positive group dynamics, and some things went down that might alter Itsuka's perception of Nagomu in a positive manner.
Kanoko showed up, and in a fashion that shows she's a good person despite the interactions between her and Nagomu at the time he received his orders home.
