Yikes, bad attitude is never a pleasant thing to see in this show. I actually feel bad for Kawai when she has to constantly deal with all this drama when working her job.

Episode is okay although it had much more drama than usual, some of it being comedic too. At least Seiko is able to keep her cool most of the time.

Kawai heaving a hard time again which was funny to watch in a way especially with the guy that was a bit too enthusiastic, well at least he addressed the guy throwing a way the cigarette even if it went wrong afterwards.
Personally i hate trash on the street and cigarette buds annoy me, they are also really bad for the environment.

The others having to solve the case was expected tho.
The woman with the knife also wasn't a good thing but you have some strange people walking around on this planet.

Why is a goody-two-shoes police officer like 21-year-old Shikine talking Yakuza language to Minamoto and Yamada lols. The reference to the 1997 Fuji TV Japanese police comedy drama Bayside Shakedown was sublime though.

And of course, when on the streets, Kawai tagging with officer Shikine really dumbs down on the law, as if the police uniform had taken his soul. Except the part when he faces against senior members of the Yakuza, Kawai's first thought is what modern people would do to film the crime down. But Minamoto and Yamada's undercover act as their wakagashira, what an entrance though as policewomen typically cower in fear in the face of yakuza, but this is an area where women are needed the most when men bicker back and forth. Hopefully Officer Shikine learns something from this...not descend to being a loyal dog.

A martial arts practice for morning assembly? That's so weird lols for invoking military practice in a civilian space, but it's normal. And the Lieutenant knows it all too well as part of the Riot Police before. Once again, Kawai logs time away from Fuji, and is tagged with Shikine and her ruthless enthusiastic Sumida-senpai from her police academy days, and all those memories come back with a trauma. Facing a regular woman drunkard that puts men in a bad light, only Kawai can diffuse the problem, except that the Lieutenant on his off-duty moment with his wife caught a potential murderer on the loose.

It's always good to have police training, and they really need it as a line of self-defence.

When Fuji was slapping Yamadai thought that was so funny.

The verbal fight with the yakuza was intense and then Fuji compared it to hippos fighting lol.

Fuji is a force to be recon with. She teaches that you need to depend on your partner as well as yourself.

Finally the New rookie is getting somewhat better.

Rooftop assemblies would be torture especially in the cold.

Being partners with someone you don’t get along with is awful and awkward. Running a kilometer and trying to keep up is exhausting. Poor Kawai but eventually got motivated by a bad experience from the police camp.

Kawai is so patient when dealing with that woman but good thing the lieutenant was there to help and possibly save Kawai from being stabbed.

Good episode felt short but still a great watch!

Dealing with these "by the books" kind always needs tolerance, such is the sense of annoyance they give. Also another maniac woman in yet another episode, they sure keeping the streak.

Shikine was the basic power harassment type, if is him giving the order is not power harassment.

That dragging passed out Kawai was hardcore.

I wonder if the Liutenaunt's wife work on the force to know Kawai is new.

Seeing that the woman had a knife wasn't that much surprise, after watch too much anime and seeing a lot of slashing crimes.

The word of today's episode is, diffuse.

I think this episode is a very good gender study on Japanese police society. Being a woman has its own advantage and disadvantage, even if it's different from men. Fuji is using the fact that woman is seen as a weaker gender to her advantage in claiming the situation between Yakuza and Police. Kawai is trying to use her gender advantage to calm the female perpetrator down, but she let her guard down. Now I know why the author quit being a Policewoman. Just look at Kawai, she need her time off but at the same time she need to train more, and while this paradox is seen in both Policemen and Policewomen, it's the Policewomen that will stand up and change this cruel system, and that is why the author want to share her experience through manga.

And yes, Yakuza is still exist despite being heavily cracked down in modern era, and people are still afraid of them (Kawai mention no one filming the Yakuza despite people usually love to film all kind of accident in smartphone age).

Call me a snowflake, but they went a little overboard with the Japanese gender role BS in this one. I thought Shikine was meant as a bad example not only for being a power-harassing piece of shit (with a big mouth and nothing to back it up) but also for the sexist crap ... But no, seems they actually kind of meant the sexist crap. Good job!

Shikine is so stupid, I'm not surprised to see this kind of policeman since it's not rare to meet them, especially with that sexist behavior, poor Kawaii though she had a tough training back then and she's still struggling with her job nowadays, at least it ended well for them since no one got harmed even though the woman had a knife

Great episode! We see officer Shikine this episode xD who admires his more experienced colleagues and left the trash collecting to Kawai lol. He also is pretty strict about little things like asking to see people's licenses when they have a bike light with a broken battery xD Byt he was nothing against the Yakuza...
Minamoto and Yamada started a yelling competition against them xD but Seiko shut the issue down very quickly. Kawai's running stamina really isn't the best lol but she catches up when she remembers some bad police training academy memories aha.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Certified Karen moment. Lietlaunt came clutch. It's actually laughable how out of shape and careless Kawai is xD

Fujiko also saved the day earlier. The yakuza scene was one of the more unpredictable ones. I thought things would escalate completely.

Shikine is literally the worst kind of police officer that harasses people over minor things and he wonders why most people say F**k the police. Then he had the audacity to call some Yakuza guys over a cigarette butt. Minamoto and Yamada arriving on the scene didn't help as the whole thing turn into a shouting match between the police and the Yakuza causing a big scene. Finally Fuji was there to give a women's touch to stop the two groups of men from bicker at each other.

Poor Kawai had to run again to the crime scene and her being out of breath reminded her of the brutal training she had to endure in the academy. Eventually, she caught up to Shikine only to find a man and a woman in a physical altercation. The woman stated kicking and screaming causing a scene. Shikine wasn't able to calm her down so he got Kawai to do it. When Kawai started to calm her she didn't assume that the woman was armed with a knife. If Lieutenant who was off duty didn't step in while he was passing by Kawai would have lost her life.

You got to stay on your toes and keep your head on a swivel when you're a cop.

Shikine's an interesting character. The first part of this episode was a good showcase in how flawed and inexperienced he still is as an officer. Assuming the female gender to be inferior in the police would have social media foaming in their mouths in rage and ready to cancel his entire life, that's for sure.

Either way, when Shikine chickened out on dealing with the Yakuza properly and the two detectives arrive to start up an amusing argument with them, Fuji stepped up to de-escalate both sides and used her experience to reprimand the Yakuza for littering. Her criticism of Shikine 's performance here is harsh, but correct, which was enough for him to rejuvenate his passion as an officer to try harder.

The second part of the episode had another case of a lady going a bit berserk, threatening to kill her male date and then herself. When Shikine and his partner tried to intervene, she cries out, shouting that she's been assaulted by the male officers, so this was a good opportunity for Kawai to show what she can do and, while she got off to a good start in calming the psycho lady down, the lieutenant was passing by and apprehended her, showing that she did have a big knife on her.

I'm hoping that Kawai will have another opportunity to show what she can really do as she can be a bit luckless at times, as was shown at the end of the episode where the afternoon training call prevented her from getting some much needed food into her system. XD

Holy fuck Shikine's is a scummy cop. Sexist comments and just pestering anyone that walks past, the young or the old. And on top of that sycophant attitude he displays to his seniors (getting them coffee and tea),

lmao Seiko comparing the detectives vs yakuza to male animals in a turf war.

"The society that separates its scholars from its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting by fools." is what the now-Lieutenant reading while lifting dumbbells in the flashback reminds me of.

Oh lord the academy scene...poor Kawai. When she passed out from running, they just dragged her so she'd finished the drill.

The second half of the episode shows the other side with a serial alcoholic quick to accuse male officers of rape who barely touched her. Kawaii sees this as a situation where they need a female officer instead, but the novice naively fails to notice the woman's concealed weapon. Luckily the Lieutenant's there to help out the rookie

This was definitely Kawai’s roughest episode, the first half she was stuck with Shikine, who was not only kind of a jerk but also takes his job to the extreme, Kawai’s words “it’s like the uniform has taken over his soul” was spot on lol, and then the Yakuza situation happens which could have been way worse if not for Minamoto, Yamada and Fuji stepping in. The 2nd half was no better, she’s on patrol with Shikine and one of her old academy classmates, and finds herself running her guts out once again, and to make things worse she has to take charge of the situation after being dead out of breath, thankfully the lieutenant was there to help her. Damn tho, poor Kawai lol, gotta respect her for sticking with this job after all this.

And I saw some folks hating on Shikine, sure he was an asshole with his sexist talk, and also one of the police you don’t want to run into, but I can’t help but also kinda like him for his enthusiasm for the job and wanting to improve, just hope he does improve.

Wow I see a lot of hate here for Shikine who said nothing wrong. He said that he admire sgt. Fuji for doing dangerous police work despite being a woman. He noted that policewoman can't do much when it comes to a fight and often policeman need to save her.

All he said is true. If you deny it you are delusional. Equal rights we have today don't magically cancel biological differences. Women are still physically much weaker than men.

I practice judo and ju jitsu and even though those are arts where you can use opponent's strength against him Im yet to see a girl who can defeat someone who isn't a complete beginner. Really no matter the technique the size and strength difference is too much for girls to overcome.

I never met a female martial artist who wasn't aware of all that. They expect you to go easier and dont use your maximum strength when rolling. Are they sexist too?

Solid enough. Kawai’s inner monologue playing the straight (wo)man can break the flow of scenes too much, but they do a decent job with it most of the time. The Lieutenant is a homie.

Hmm looks like there's an annoying police officer there. At least by Fuji and Yamada standard. I can't help but laugh when Fuji always slapped the red-head. Seems like it means more than it looks. Well, at the end, its all about Kawai and her bad luck that fail to grasped the situations that went south badly. There some hippo foul-mouthed fight, police gangsta against the gangsta. The annoying officer couldn't stepped on it and Kawai as always just being an observant xd. Thanks to Sergeant Fuji things get under controlled to once more....

The second case as expected involved Kawai again. Poor lost soul always caught off into some weird incident, and weird partners, even though its actually her upperclassmen. While its not good seeing her talked not quite improper over her bald musclehead lieutenant, he's still in good mood to save Kawai day, and well, still giving her a rough day after. Its understandable though, considering the folks ruined his good time xd....

Interesting episode once again, even if its quite feels less entertaining than some of the previous episode, honestly. Keep it up, Kawai!

Man, I love this show. It just honestly screams "I've been there and done that" by the creator of this work, who was a cop herself. Maybe not as lively and dramatic as these scenarios, but nevertheless, similar. Well, that's just how I'm interpreting this series. Some hilarious moments.

Kawai should quit and do something else because she is not suited for the job. Fortunately Fuji is outstanding but I Kawai is really a burden to her doing her own job effectively.

Wasn't expecting to find someone more annoying than Seiko but Shikine sure surpassed my expectations. Using your power as policeman to harass people plus being a sexist sure is a bad combination...

Besides Shikine being a sexist, power-abusing asshole, I really have to wonder why Kawai hasn't just quit the police force at this point. I get that one of this show's main gags is her pained reactions to every part of her job, but it doesn't make much sense to me that Kawai sticks with a job she seems to hate with literally every fibre of her being.

Although Shikine was bit idiot but wasn't annoying like Kawai in this episode
she talks about how few policewomen there are and the lack of equality between genders
but she is lazy at times and always whines about the hardships of her work and wanting easier assignments
completely neglecting the fact that this dull mindset is the exact reason why -among other reasons and not all are right or fair of course-
