Damn, Gagumber and his crew ran into some a serious issue this episode but I like how he inspires the team with his determination.

Besides that, we also got some intense mech action. Memenpu and her courage are also inspiring. She's not someone to be underestimate anywhere or any time.

Is every character trying to be a funny man to sing worries off?

Merooro joining in the conquest at this timing feels a bit off, but at least we now know the full picture of how the Colonies and the Bureau of Regulations work in the Labyrinth. Add in what we see of the Labyrinth of its many towns and the animus, it forms the destruction of the climate, and that's Merooro's reason to preserve what's left. Also, the Shibito that functions just like a regular terrorist group, they are the real threat.

All that Merooro and the Breau of Regulation worked for is to save all life and blood on the godforsaken land. But for Memempu to be openly explicit to wish that she'd have a father like Merooro, Gagumba really feels like he's wedged into a corner being played with his feelings.

Making things worse is of the Shibito terrorist group's invasion of the Bureau, and this is a character class study of a stupid father's love for his own daughter, not realizing of what Memempu really feels about having an useless father like Gagumba.

So instead of the dream destination, now we're dealing with Rainbow Children, of which Memempu is one. This kind of abrupt narrative tone change at this pace...I don't really like how this show has become now.

Great episode! Merooro and Gagumber's friendship is nice to see and Memempu's birthday gift she got a while ago was Tony.

Looking forward to the next episode!

First third of the episode was just an info dump, but at least the rest is some plot-progressing stuff. Yes we had the whisper-trope in this one, but I applaud them for not ending an a cliffhanger, which they could’ve totally done as memempu nearly gets crushed. Instead they end on a heartfelt note which makes it all the better.

Now it’s fine as we watching while it airs weekly, but I realize if one were to binge watch this once it’s completed, I don’t think it flows well at all. One episode we are stranded on an island, and then immediately after we are rescued by this dude out of nowhere, with the obvious reason to progress the plot, whatever that may be. We had zack literally trying to kill gagumba a couple episodes ago, and then the next episode it’s almost completely shrugged off and everything’s back to normal. As if nothing happened. The characters seemed unaffected. It just jumps around a lot between episodes, and to me it doesn’t feel cohesive at all. Maybe it’s not meant to be, but I wish it did.

The first episode or two were very promising. The relationship between father and daughter seemed to be the forefront. We got some of that in this episode. But everything else, just doesn’t feel right. I have little hope that this anime-original will pull it off with the remaining episodes, but fingers crossed they do something that will make this all feel satisfactory.

Yeah, I actually only enjoyed that aspect this episode. The rest is just eh. This show suffers from the typical problem of trying to cram too much into 12 episodes.

You know I feel this show already had too much stuff going on to be able to properly handle in only 12-13 episodes. I really don't think it needs a terrorist plot on top of that.

I love how Gagumber decided to be extremely confrontational without any motive other than jealousy. The imposed conflict of this episode didnt really follow the past developments in both Memenpu and Gagumber, I suppose that they tried to reinforce the message but they did it incorrectly by doing a soft reset, which make it feel like the past episodes didnt amount anything.

First couple of episodes started off strong with the father-daughter dynamic. As of now it feels disjointed with way too many plot points going on. Really disappointed in the show, it could have been a hidden gem if it just stuck with the major plot point with fewer side quests.

Princesses? That's the first I've heard of 'em, Merooro.
The colonies' governmental structure should have been explain ages ago and not so late in the series.

With just two episodes to go I can't see Sakugan having a clean ending unless a second season is produced.

Two or three years into the future, I'll vaguely remember Sakugan. Five years later, it'll be a distant memory. Seven, eight, ten years later, I'll recognize the art style but not the plot or even the show's name. Seventeen years later, assuming I'm still alive, it'll only exist as a vague idea at the back of my head. I won't be sure if was a real show, a false memory of a show I made up.

Yet I will always remember this comment and how true it is.

Memenpu saying Merooro was her dad instead was hilariously painful lmao, F's for Gagumber.

Good, best boy Merooro is still alive. I wonder what the rainbow children are, Muro's design looks great. Muro and that dude ordering her around is kind of like a Memenpu and Gagumber pair too, they even got the same hair colors lmao. 2 episodes left, can they fit everything though.

So I'll say it again Memempu is meant to be a 9 year old. The fact that she said she said from what I can tell is the writers writing her like a 9 year old. Honestly it's a pretty decent character flaw having the super genius act like a child sometimes.

it's weird it feels like the kind of show that would get two sets of 12 episodes to start but strangely is hasn't. I'd rather have anime start going for two seasons and have less seasonal bloat.

Just hearing from Memempu that she wished for Merooro to be her father instead on Gagumber must've been a critical hit to Gagumber's heart. I know kids at that age can say those things every now and then, but I do feel a bit sympathetic for Gagumber here.

Either way, Gagumber's stubbornness had to be addressed by Merooro when he said some harsh but true words to him in order to get him motivated to after Memempu, just as the terrorist group arrived and caused havoc. It was nice to see Gagumber going all out to save his daughter from their clutches, although Merooro got injured when he saved Memempu from getting attacked by a sudden Kaiju appearing and attacking. I'm sure he'll make a full recovery. =)

I'm not sure how the series will wrap things up with only 2 episodes left to run. I look forward to seeing how the next episode will play out, as it looks like it involves a new character, probably a princess. That, and I want to know more about what the Shibito group means about "rainbow children".

I think people took Memenpu's "I wish Muuro was my father" too seriously. I mean, be real people, in the same episode it's explained that Memenpu doesn't mean it and Gagumber is irreplaceable for her. This was made evident several times in the show ffs! Some people were triggered just like Gagumber lol.

Now for the rest of the episode. I have a bad feeling about where this plot is going. There's a striking resemblance with the masked-girl and Memenpu. Then there's the whole "rainbow children" thing going on. Last episode we heard that one of them was killed, sadly. I wonder if these children all have blonde hair and are related. I still theorize that Memenpu may not actually be Gagumber's biological daughter. She may well have been adopted. If that's true, she may be one of the many cloned/artificially made (perhaps) smart children. Since the evil organization is tasked with killing these children, it's obvious Memenpu is some kind of a "key" and the evil organization wants only one to exist... likely.

Honestly, this is only the 2nd episode that I have not wanted to slap Memempu at least once. (The first was e8 I think.) She acted more like what she is a child, an intelligent child, but a child nonetheless.

Do all the Rainbow Children have the amber or did the Shibito girl steal Memempu's? I guess we'll find out next week.

I wouldn't mind the introduction of the Rainbow Children if the series was double the episodes, but to introduce this in episode 10 of 12 does us a disservice. I tend to call anime like this manga advertisements.

Interesting how so many people hate Memepu for her saying "I wish Merooro was my dad" but then forget that the whole point of the episode is that Tony is such a security blanket for her because, in her own words, Gagumber gave it to her. and she has said in other episodes that Gagumber is her only family and she doesn't feel like she can live without him.

Yeah I know it's still a hurtful thing to say, but genius or not, you can't expect a 9 year old to understand the full gravity of a statement like that. If anything, I think Memepu just said that because she seems to have more in common with Merooro.

Yeah i agree it seems too late now to introduce another plot, if it was 24 episodes it was ok but there's only 2 more, they wasted too much time with a lot of nothing in the middle of the anime.

With the premise that the show has some pacing and structural issue that keeps is from being truly good, I think there is a problem with how most people approach this series.

Gagumber IS a good person. But he is also flawed, which is normal.
All of these events are clearly meant to show him this fact, that beyond is own perspective about himself he is a good father (so to raise his own self-esteem and to learn how to deal with grief better) but needs to do even more.

He isn't "a bad parent", but he has to deal with a very abnormal situation (I mean, adventuring with his genius child ain't a joke), and this simple fact puts a lot more pressure on him. Is it unfair? No, it's not. He is a father, a parent.
He is still his own person, but he is expected to put his daugther first.

That's what being a parent is all about.
