I dont want the series to be an episodic.
This episode's story was weak.
Average Episode.
Average is not the right term to describe it, it was lower than average.

Nice episode, loving the series so far. People who don't like serious plots can go back to watching their favourite shonens, no offense.
Also, it's really weird when the opening is in your native language, didn't expect something like that.

The themes that were explored here were interesting, but man... the art in this one fuckin sucked. I'm sorry, but the faces very laughably bad at times.

Super cool episode. Loved the nostalgia topic and how even in the end the policeman's wife loved watching old movies.

Finally! I really liked this episode compared to the first two. I could actually follow along and the end wrapped it up perfectly. Pretty unique story, too. Really good stuff and I'm looking forward to episode 4.

Great watch so far. I'm not the biggest fan of episodic stuff, unless it's sol, but here I'm finding myself very intrigued by the themes and implicated messages.

Oh, so the android was supposed to be a faithful reproduction of an actress? I understand it had dialog from the films planted in it, but the whole aspect didn't come across to me while watching. Thanks to this thread for clearing that up, as it wasn't clearly explained in the episode.

Seeing a lot of these replies and its clear to me that a lot of MAL wants their shows served in simple, over the top communicated sequences. All talk and don't show. The subtleties of this episode passes straight over peoples heads.

Holy moly, what was that in the end?

Something tells me the culprits weren't trying to simply reenact an old movie...

funny how motoko shits on the stupid motivations of this episodes antagonist. i'm noticing that at around the end of each episode, theres some sort of message. a vague message but its cool how much you can interpret from it.

Dude was living out a movie lol

Didn't hit as hard as the last one, but still a good enough episode nonetheless. I love the banter between these characters

really enjoyed the interaction with some characters. just got done watching the movies and it was difficult seeing much interaction between given the timeframe.
the story itself was whatever. the little bit at the end was ok with the Jeri adding more to the lines of the movie.

Togusa thought that the android just copied lines from old movies and didn't possess any consciousness, but he found out that the last line she said about loving the dude wasn't in the movie, i.e. she came up with it herself.

I love episodes that present beautifully diverse stories. The story of the robot artist and the young man who falls in love with her is strange, and there are serious dialogues, but I like Pato or Goto when he makes his sarcastic jokes, hahaha.

What an interesting episode. Classic concept of a man and an android in love. But all this room for interpretation on if he really loved her, or just used her as a scene partner for the old movies lines and if she was more than just a mimic... I'm starting to get why this show is so beloved. I hope he actually liked her, and I hope there was indeed a consciousness in the Jeri.

So, when trying to find the culprit, they were just breaking into people's homes, without search warrants, guns ablaze, beating them up, and then just were like "Forget it, he's not our guy" (13:38)? wtf

@Pizzaluver They're obviously yakuza. What sort of normal person responds to police questioning with "We don't keep track of where all the sex robots wind up"?

Anyway, not the best episode. The idea of a Canadian diplomat having to leave the country to dodge Canada's draft in 2030 is pretty funny to me though.

@LotteGiants that only makes it worse, getting into hot water with yakuza over literally nothing. And they got extremely lucky that the diplomat's son was the culprit, otherwise they would've gotten into A LOT of trouble for breaking into his house and his pc no search warrant guns ablaze. Maybe they should've checked his background first? They are supposed to be professionals or what?

@Pizzaluver Oh no...those poor yakuza, I guess? Surely somewhere in the remaining 23 episodes they'll get their day in court. Seriously dude, what the hell are you even talking about here? Did you drop this show at episode 3 out of disgust at the lack of on-screen paperwork they do or something?

@LotteGiants first of all, as anyone can easily see, I'm on episode 11, and I'm allowed to be disgusted at the lack of on-screen intelligence they show or something. Next, they do the necessary paperwork later in the episode when they get to arresting the guy, so maybe they should've just moved that scene to before they break into a diplomatically immune guy's house? I will, however, drop this conversation out of disgust at the lack of on-screen intelligence you show or something. xP
