| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I am quite impressed with the adaptation and pacing so far. Only some minor changes from the novel. Hopefully this quality keeps up for the rest of the season (and doesn't turn out like season 2 lol...) Nice try Xue Yang for trying to fool Wei Ying with your disguise but he's not falling for it! Poor kids had to eat Wei Ying's super spicy congee hahaha. We see at the end of the ep that the real Xiao Xingchen is actually dead already :( |
| The animation is absolutely stunning. Despite the deviation from the novel, with the limit that they have I think they're doing a good job. It was also very smart of them to not reveal Xue Yang's face in the first episode only to have us officially meet him disguised as Xiao Xingchen. But I wonder how it's going to play out with the way we jumped into the flashback at the end of the episode as well as the fact that Xiao Xingchen met A-Qing and Xue Yang at the same time. I absolutely love seeing Wei Ying in action as well. This man is so casual and cool about it and the only thing he's waving around is a bamboo flute. He really knows how to flex xD And of course we got our boys, we finally see our boy Zizhen. Poor guys having eaten Wei Ying's food xD And that hug between Jin Ling and Lan Jingyi was so cute! The Wangxian moments tho! All those tiny hints and details, I'm living for them >.< |
| Oh woahh I thought I was seeing things, I didn't realize two episodes came out today! What a pleasant surprise. Great episode, Xue Yang finally makes his appearance (well, not really) in front of WWX. He already gives off a sinister and creepy vibe, although it's not surprising given what we've learned about him so far. Love the second half with WWX cooking for and babysitting the boys, pretty amusing sequence. Poor girl with her tongue ripped out. This flashback is definitely going to be a brutal one. Btw, can anyone tell me who Xue Yang was referring to when he was talking about a "magnificent actor?" I think I know who it is but it's been a while, I forgot a lot of details. Is it |

| That one quiet Lan kid can be Wei Wuxian's and Lan Zhan's adopted child. lol I am not ready for Xue Yang's story!! I kind of like him and also feel really bad for him! He is acting all evil, but he wants to resurrect someone at all cost. We see that he's already practiced on other corpses, and is now willing to get Wei Wuxian's help. It's clear from his actions and expressions that he has someone he deeply cares about. I might be wrong, but I feel like there were more characters here in the drama version. |

| I'm very happy with this episode. They cut some stuff (ofc with the 12 ep limit) but they played with the puzzle well. I love how A-Qing led LWJ to the juniors in this. And my boy OZZ is in the house! XY copied XXC to the fullest, even his moves. I enjoyed that reveal and ohh that slip from XY about *someone*. As expected XXC's body is the most up-kept thing in the whole city. The way they went into the past at the end of this episode reminds me so much of the sequence from s01e02. The music is gorgeous. |
