This reinforced how much I think Itsuki is slightly scizophrenic (?)....

That was a pretty short fight, I don't care for the president but I care for Tsubomi's yuri crush on her ^_^

I found that the scene with Coffret making the heartlinks to be too adorable. Pushing away at the mechanism and helping out the store. <3

Wow Itsuki's brother looks so girl-ish I couldn't tell. I had to constantly remind myself he's a he and not a she. Well at least this clears up my theory that the fabulous guy helping the precures isn't him because he doesn't wear glasses.

As always Tsubomi and Erika are so cute!

Kumojacky's ground splitting move was awesome. Itsuki's grandfather turned out to be better than I had thought upon his first impression.

Itsuki's grandfather is an alright guy. From the whole "carry on the family name" being Itsuki's idea in the first place to his friendly way of letting her know it's okay to pursue her own interests, he really set himself apart from the overbearing/judgemental stereotype that would have been easy to pin on him.

Kumojacky reasserts his status as best commander. I like him a lot more than Sasorina and Kobraja.

It looks like we may be seeing more of Itsuki going forward.

What I watched: Heartcatch episode 15

What I expected: to cringe at the inevitable forced tension between "Itsuki has to look/act masculine/strong" and "Itsuki likes cute things"

What I got: an actual good character backstory episode

Yeah, I was a little surprised that they didn't take this route, but instead they made him out to be actually a reasonable person, and also made the episode about Itsuki coming to terms with her own self-doubts.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

One of my favorite things in anime, as well as in stories in general, is the exploration of personal identity. In the same vein, one of my favorite character archetypes are tomboys, as they easily lend to the complexities of gender roles and identity. Plus, they're flexible characters, capable of taking on cool action-oriented roles, or act cute and girly as appropriate.

When Itsuki was freed from the responsibilities of her dojo, she realized she didn't know what to do. She really did love martial arts, but at the same time, the responsibilities of taking over the dojo shackled her from having fun and acting her own age. Upon being freed from her responsibilities, she realized infinite possibilities for future passions also meant an absolute absence of direction. Is it better to have a predefined path that shuts you out of other possibilities, or is it better to have your options completely open, despite having finite time and talents? Should you stick with what's familiar and convenient, or throw yourself into the unknown, regardless of all the potential risks?

Every story I've seen handles this question differently, especially when considering one's future in tandem with one's identity. There's no one correct answer, and there can be multiple simultaneous correct answers. In this case, it comes down to what Itsuki feels is best for herself, and how she manages to compromise what she wants to do with what she's able to do. For now, at least, that's designing clothes with her schoolmates.

Itsuki's grandfather being a reasonable person was the biggest plot twist this show could've pulled
