(last updated 25 December 2020 - Merry Christmas! it's been a while since my previous update on 05 August 2019...)
Hello! (If you're sending me a friend request, please leave me a message reminding me who you are.)
I basically watch whatever, whenever. I watch rather slowly, and I don't follow seasonals.
I seem to prefer fantasy and sci-fi, but I may watch anything I find interesting.
The shows I end up liking are the ones that inspire interesting emotions, thoughts, and/or imagination. (Sometimes this means I really like shows some people consider poorly-written.)
A more extensive list of my favorite series can be found here.
And a more extensive list of my favorite characters can be found here.
I also enjoy music, nature, and video games.
I've written some blogposts about anime, using MAL's blogpost feature. You can click the "blog posts" link in the left side bar to see my posts. (Warning: potentially unmarked spoilers.) But I've kinda stopped doing this because I realized that blogposts are kinda difficult to navigate.
My rating system is simply a summary of how much I liked a show. It roughly works like this:
9 - loved it
7 - liked it
5 - meh
3 - didn't enjoy it ("did a few things that annoyed me")
1 - hated it ("did a lot of things that annoyed me")
Even scores are just in-betweens. This was based on me using a +2/+1/0/-1/-2 scoring system and then mapping it back to the ten-point system that MAL has. 10 is currently unused.
Sometimes, I don't rate things immediately after watching them. Also, even if I didn't enjoy a show overall, there can be some really neat things I liked in it.
I also have rated some series I've dropped, just because I felt I had an opinion on it.
I can change them later anyway.
My member cards - Thank you to everyone who created these pretty cards!
I can't tell what MAL counts as an update and what it doesn't.
I used my manga list to +1 volume my progress with the Spice & Wolf light novel, as I finished the first volume a few days ago.
It doesn't show up in my manga updates.
I did similarly to +1 episode with the anime series, and it does show as an anime update.
Nice. I guess those three have some similarities in that they're all two cour shows with large mainly female casts. If all characters get their time to shine I like having a large amount of characters which I think all three of them do well.
For Nanoha all the first three seasons have their own appeals for me. S1 has the highest highs for me but the first half just isn't very interesting for a large part, A's is the most solid and excited me the most on first watch but it doesn't really resonate with me as much, it feels more like a very good story than something I personally connect with. StrikerS is the one that really got me into Nanoha's world and it has a lot of more adult themes like raising kids, getting a job, the balance between doing your best and knowing your limits. Which resonated with me as I was about to be done with university and get my own job as well. And it was nice to see Nanoha all grown up.

I saw that, I think it was a month ago or so and it surprised me. It also got a Latino Spanish dub before.
