Fantastic episode.

There's the fictional world setting with the cold temperature but I really like how Fushi is introduced into the show. There's even some room for comedy with his scenes, which I find to be amusing.

There's a lot of human emotions shown in this episode including Fushi's personal feelings, tears, and chemistry with that wolf. A great start imo.

WOW OH WOW, what a MAGNIFICENT beginning. The COVID delay of this show is well worth the wait.

From the author of A Silent Voice, and this premiere episode is already a great indication of Brain's Base's 20-episode adaptation...and I'm already melting in tears.

The spirited nameless boy with the wolf that he calls "it" Joan on a journey akin to the post-apocalyptic setting of Girls' Last Tour. Seeing all the graves where people have died in the vast wilderness, he can try being positive, but reality will sink in like a howling cry to depression. With "it" taking the shape of the nameless boy, there we begin the story of Fushi, and Tsuda Kenjiro being the narrator, this experience is 100 more times alluring the same way as A Silent Voice did.

If anything, this is by far one of, if not, the best masterpiece-level premiere episode of the Spring season, and I would not have it any other way. Chapter 1 adapted to perfection with the overwhelming feels, and I can't wait to have my heart and eyes be heart-painfully hit and teared more than ever before.

Episode 1 was absolutely awesome! I couldn't endure crying. I made my heartache..
I'm looking forward to watching the next episode.

Hikaru Utada's ED matched the atmosphere of the story very well.

Sadly too obvious that the boy wouldn't make it :(

But that's beside the point. It didn't take away from the impressive presentation and the impact of the episode. This feels like something special. Good shit fr.

Damn, watching this episode reminded me just how good the early stuff was from the manga. Although I'm not too big on the developments that are going on in the manga right now, the early stuff in the manga was fantastic, and everything covered by this 20-episode anime should be nothing but great stuff.

For me, To Your Eternity has one of the best first chapters for a manga series, and I'm glad the anime was able to capture what made the chapter so good. It had the feel of a short movie, and it's great! The direction and storyboarding in this episode was really good too. It set up the atmosphere perfectly. The ending was expected, but it doesn't take away from its impact. And also, the boy's voice acting was fantastic! Absolutely great for a newcomer. Since the immortal being has taken his form, he'll basically be the voice of the protagonist of this show as long as the being keeps his form.

Definitely premiere of the season.

Really excited for this! Loved the manga, can't wait to see how Brain's Base handles this adaptation! But a quick look at the staff and how we have a 20 episode count, I think we're in for a treat. Sadly the episode isn't out yet on Crunchyroll but I'm super excited.

Just like the first chapter experience, it still makes me teared.

The overall presentation was almost a movie, they really captured the mood of the manga. Plus Hikaru Utada's voice suits this kind of anime.

What a journey this will be. Currently reading the manga up to the 3rd arc. 1st major arc is my favorite so far, which will be adapted on next episodes. Looking forward to it.

You know, I've been looking forward to this for a long time now (=> Yoshitoki Ooima-sensei) but I literally had no clue what to expect from this. PV gave off similar vibes but this episode. Just fantastic!

What a sad way to part for the little boy, he tried staying positive to the very end and did a fantastic job at that. Seeing him break down near the rumbles was pretty touching though.

Now "Joan" takes the form of the boy. Aside from the rock at first, it seems like a living being passing away gives it the "stimulation" required to change forms. Definitely curious to see how this'll play out!

Next episode's preview, two beings who want to survive. Now that's touching stuff!

Also, is that God in TsudaKen-san's voice?

Koe no Katachi literally saved my life, I’ve waited years for Oima-sensei’s next work to come and when Fumetsu started I immediately fell in love with it. I’m so happy this has finally been animated.

Couldn’t be more pleased with the first episode. As expected, it covered the first chapter which gives some valuable backstory about “it” and how it gains its form. the boy’s death is really heartbreaking when you think about how he waited for his villagers to come home for years.

Utada Hikaru OP is absolutely beautiful as you’d expect. By far the best Japanese singer in recent memory and she didn’t disappoint.

I was a bit worried about Brain’s base considering season 1 of Oregairu was the last thing I saw from them and it was a meh adaptation, but looks like we in good hands.

Alone in that snowy environment, wow that's cruel, it was sad for that boy who eventually died... but at least the dog took his form and is going to travel like that, I like the bit of magic they added to something that feels very realistic... anyway it was great for a 1st episode, animation/soundtracks are really good and it was captivating, I'm looking forward to seeing the beginning of his travel in the next episode, the preview is interesting.

I was hoping against hope that this episode would meet the mile-high expectations of both a stellar manga and a COVID delay, and it did not disappoint at all. Nameless Boy's crushing optimism in the face of impossible odds was both inspiring and heartbreaking from a dramatic standpoint, and the moment it all collapses is probably the most powerful moment of the season so far. The score was very interesting, and the swells that hit right at the climax felt so damn heavy that I nearly cried a second time this episode.

There were some minor animation blips here and there, and it did feel like it dragged on just a bit, but other than that, a masterful first episode. 9/10, hopefully this series' potential is met and it runs away with AotS, and possibly AotY.

You done good, Brain's Base. I knew you would.

Yay, it is finally here. The first episode looks good. Even though I knew that the nameless boy was going to die, it still teared me up, I did cry on the manga a lot so. I love the interactions between the characters. Might be too early but I think this will be the best anime of the season, and I dont give that title this early pretty often.

The pacing was PERFECT!
I did not think they would only adapt the first chapter in the first episode, but I hoped they did AND YES THEY DID. Aggh the arstyle is also perfect, ngl this episode is a 10/10 for me. Every feels there was from the manga was also in the anime, they did such a good job. I don't regret waiting for so long as I did, not even a little bit!

Excellent concept on socialization through a supernatural entity - an orb, a blank slate.

It was inevitable that the boy was going to die, but it was sweet to see his aspirations for the short amount of screen time he did receive.

I haven't read the manga and heard about this anime from the hype it had around it and eagerly waited for it. And damn, it hit hard in the feel. Everyone has already described how beautiful and heart-wrenching premiere was.
Guessing on the premise and it's just wild guess but I think it'll be somehow similar to the Violet Evergarden in the way that Violet started on the journey to understand human heart and it's emotions. Same way it might also go that same route of exploring various facets of humans. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Just felt like putting it in the forum.
