inb4 he is also looping but was only pretending to be unaware of it. Or too stupid to notice. Anything goes.

Also congrats.

im not so sure, he probably remembers but they just aren't mentioning it, bc i think the time loop starts when Mion has graduated and everyone is a bit older, also this arc is focused more on Rika and Satoko than Keiichi and Rena

I would take a story of Keiichi looping over Satoko any day of the week over this
The best storyline they could come up for this little bitch was "muh Rika is ignoring me so I am salty" and went fucking insane killing herself.

It's SCREAMING Bern/Lamda vibes from Umineko.
Which is sad, because a story about a death game between Bern and Lamda would have been WAY more believable than this shitshow

Man, Satoko is so toxic and there's still people blaming Rika just because she wanted to follow her dream. Even if Rika is at fault, that doesn't change the fact that Satoko is creating a shit-ton of worlds where a lot of people suffer due to HS going wild, just because she didn't want to study. She's killing Rika endlessly, but she's also drawing Keiichi, Rena, Mion and Shion into horrible deaths. Wasn't Higurashi about the power of friendship, again?

I can quite theorize what's going to happen

i agree that i would like to see keiichi more than satoko, she is acting like a bitch who wants to get her way and to keep making rika suffer even though shes been through so much more than Satoko.

I do understand why its these two though, bc they are best friends and all that and its interesting to see them battle it out

Haven't played even a moment from the visual novels, so this Featherine goddess is completely unknown to me, but I can't help but laugh at how she was chillin in the couch, watching Satoko getting more desperate.

On another note, I really really loved this episode. Both Satoko and Rika are doing pretty questionable actions and none of them wants to back down from their dream. I understand both Rika's wish to leave her place of suffering and Satoko's anguish over her bleak future, but even if Satoko has seen (not lived) the loops, she can't truly understand Rika's feelings.

Now it's all a matter of who's obsession will win. The ''Rika vs Satoko'' is the fight we never knew we needed in Higurashi.

Remember when I said last week that Satoko was still salvageable? Well, I'm not so sure anymore hahaha kill me... I mean, I feel bad for the double bad experience she had in that shitty school and how no matter what she does, she can't fulfill her wish to be with Rika but one would think that once she knew and saw what Rika went through for a hundred years at least it would be somewhat more understandable and she would give more thought to what both of them want but nope, she just went crazy and now want to break Rika lol.

The loops thing was kind of confusing. From what I understood, Satoko is the new Rika but unlike her, Satoko restarts the worlds on purpose by committing suicide. Then, Satoko's loops start when Rika's loops have already ended so at that point it's impossible to convince her to go back on her decision. The scary new woman tells her the truth about Rika and shows her what she went through, Satoko comes to the conclusion that to convince Rika she needs to break her through the same loops that almost defeated her before, scary woman makes it possible for Rika to go back to her loops now "together" with Satoko, as long as Satoko dies after Rika thus starting Gou. Or something like that?

If this is like when we saw the worlds continued to run their course even with Rika dead, I'm curious to know what happened to Rika in the worlds where Satoko committed suicide.

Now we also know why the strange deaths like the one in the first arc where Satoko and Rika appeared dead with a knife near them lol. Also, it's scary to think that all the suffering we saw from Satoko was an act.

Finally Hanyuu, how aware was she of all this? She is the one who gives the hint about the shard to Rika but it seems she couldn't go directly against this new entity and say something more straightforward? And Satoko isn't aware that Rika's loops work similarly to hers and that she has contact with an entity similar to hers? Hmm... what does seem certain is that Satoko is not aware that Hanyuu gave Rika the power to remember absolutely everything.

My brain trembles.

I understand why Satoko is selfish; but I don't think it makes sense for her to be selfish to THIS level:

She just finds out that Rika, who's basically like her sister, was going through literal Hell for a 100 years. Satoko shows no sympathy, no reconsideration of trying to make her stay in Hinamizawa, despite that? In addition, she finds out her brother is alive and (for the most part) well. So for emotional support, there's her brother.

I was originally planning to give this season of Higurashi a 8, but then it dropped to a 7, because of how pointless most of the arcs in this season are; as they're just rehashes of the arcs from the OG anime with a slight twist. But now, I'm thinking of giving it a 6.

I heard that in the OG anime, there were certain important details that were not adapted from the visual novel. Now I wish Higurashi 2020 was instead, a legit remake, that would adapt all those details.

Yes I remember when Takano flipped because she had to study in order to keep up with a friend.
The two of them arent similar at all in development.

Takano actually put effort in whatever she did including causing the GHD. Satoko does nothing. Even now she plans on doing nothing except waiting for Rika to break.

And in the end Rika and the rest were nobodies to Takano. Satoko enjoys torturing her so called best friend.

Make Satoko irredeemable, sure. But at least give a reason that makes sense and doesnt make her an antagonist we don want to see.

Hahahahahaa dumbass can't study for a couple years to get through high school but chooses to spend a whole century repeatedly watching her "friends" murdering each other. I honestly can't tell if they expect us to sympathize with Satoko. How much do you have to hate someone for you to send them back to the PTSD hell that she crawled out of to save your dumbass just because they want to go to a school you dont like?

This whole series completely shits on every higurashi character and butcher their personalities and I have no idea how any fans of the original actually like this shit.

What is the natural response after learning your best friend/possible crush had been ruthlessly murdered hundreds, if not thousands of times by a bunch of paramilitary men in not only a gruesome, but also an incredibly undignified and degrading fashion as a woman? To mentally scar her further until she breaks of course, because how dare she wants to move out and leave those horrifying memories behind!

More on the undignified part btw, we don't really talk about this aspect but there's no doubt as to how traumatizing an experience it would be for a young girl to be forcibly stripped bare and manhandled by those thugs in her final moments independent of the physical assault. It's fortunate that she doesn't retain the memories of her death because holy shit she'd have developed 50 different mental disorders if everything stayed with her. Her knowledge of all of this makes Satoko even more of a heartless bastard than she already was.

Satoko is (was (?), idk if I should take Gou seriously) like one of my favorite characters of WTC, and this hot garbage of a sequel is making me wanna fucking claw at my throat until I bleed out, maybe the intention was to make the audience feel the effects of HS. Thanks for utterly demolishing the image of Satoko.

Satoko making traps is a second nature to her. This is such a low effort scheme, with the biggest part granted to her for laughs, as we saw here.

Pretending to be abused or in pain like in Tataridamashi is nothing. We just saw her killing herself 4 times as if it was nothing.
So yes she isnt even trying.

Compare Satoko living in Hinamizawa and silently sabotaging Rika, after having seen her struggle to Takano who studied like crazy, had to deal with superiors and all the planning since the Dam project. And she had no special powers from a god. This is nothing.

It wasnt the real Hanyuu. By her own admission she is sort of a trace left by the real Hanyuu, and soley exists in the sea of frsgments.

Depending ob what you believe (and what we know so far) the actual Hanyuu,
1. Became Featherine.
2. Featherine got rid of her.
3. Or she's away helping another Rika and doesnt know that Gou is going on / or is not allowed to affect it.

Normally after Rika does Hanyuu takes her to another world to begin another loop, however here there are two loopers. Since both Rika ans Satoko end up in the same world among the countless ones in the sea of fragments that suggests that Featherine is the one controlling the loops instead of Hanyuu.

The flashbacks into deengurashi were done very well, and I enjoyed seeing those moments again with a new art style.

Rika sure was greedy with her answer, but if she knew Satoko was a looper. I don't think she would have put her hand in the mousetrap.

Satoko has to let rika go, and the same vice versa. Or I don't foresee this getting a good ending.

The part where Satoko finds out about Rika's 100 years struggle and doesn't give a fuck was really something. She talks about mental endurance and shit but she is pretty far gone herself at this stage. lmao

"Hey Rika, do you want to go to school where you would fit right in or stay in the village with your mentally unstable and toxic friend?"

Those fingersnaps are so freaking cringe. This wasnt a thing in the OG so why the hell are they use so much here? If you tell me that they think their viewers are idiots and cant tell when a loop starts then I will believe you.

Satoko is 100% a witch now, being able to conjure guns, knives, and control and possibly even build traps without touching them.

"You are so stubborn Rika"

Said the crazy chick that commits suicide at the slightest inconvenience in her new timelines.

Also, can we take a minute to think about the Rika and the rest in those discarded worlds that see Satoko kill herself for seemingly(but also literally) no reason, and having to live with that?

And boy, Featherine must be really REALLY bored if she finds those loops, where the same shit happens but with a different method of suicide, interesting. Guess I will go with what Ryuukishi said and accept that this is a lookalike.

And yes Satoko that's the spirit. You "best friend" endured 100 years of torture in order to be released from that hell and you want to bring her back in it because you cant handle studying.

Previously I joked about Teppei being a secret hero but if he returns and beats the shit out of her I wont feel bad. It will be cathartic.

And I guess we were wrong about this being the birth of Bernkastel. Now it is clear its Lambdadelta's. Zettai .

Remember when Higurashi was about the bonds of friendship and how they can overcome everything? Remember Dear You?
Well as Gou shows, no sacrifice is big enough if you gotta print money.

EDIT: Diavolo is Satoko in the first loop. Poor guy.

EDIT 2:I forgot Satoshi but at this point not even Satoko cares so....poor guy.
I agree with the finger snap, why the hell did they add that?

Satoko saying goodbye to Satoshi was out of nowhere and really weird.

Pretty sure this is a common theory, but maybe...

Rika will kill Satoko with the sword, but it won't "kill" her, it will kill the /looper/ in her. She might kill herself too or something. And then the loopers will have their own separate split entity (if they go the umineko route) and human Rika/Satoko will have some cheesy happy ending.

Anime spent 3 episodes portraying that going to St. Lucia is a hell route for Satoko in all aspects:

>Ostracizing community she clearly not suited for

>Academic bar much higher than her ability

>No fun in any aspect of school life in contrast to village school

>Being thrown in a fucking jail, basically an isolation torture

>And of course the fact that Rika gives no shit about her "best friend" suffering. Perfectly fine living without her. Making false selfish promises to make things worse

Despite that people like you still reduce her motivation to prevent all this to "lol she didn't want to read a book". Are you guys crazy? So she'll get better grades and then what? Academic activity still will take most of her time. She still will be a loner because of her personality. Rika still leave her out of her ojou-sama circle - they are just incompatible in this setting.

She has every right to evade this route. Yes, she got some screws loose in the process of looping (and before that in that shitty school, and before that during her shitty childhood). But so is Rika. And Rika herself said in this same ep that she wanted BOTH the academy and Satoko.

Also we don't know what Satoko has been doing in the background. Her perfect world in Nekodamashi basically had the whole Takano/Mountain Dog dilemma solved like child's play. We should just wait to see what she actually pulled.

Even in the original it made little to sense for Keichii to remember events from ither worlds, because he was an entirely different and seperate Keichii and Hanyuu was not taking him along for the ride.

In Matsuri and Miotsukushi it is understandable to an extent because those are special worlds made by combining other fragments. So Akasaka doesnt really count.

Keichii remembering stuff in the other arcs is an actual miracle or can even suggest some sort of Meta influence. Magician of words.

In Gou I wonder if Featherine is just doing it for fun. Giving memories so Rika can get some hope but dashing it by making things go south even if Keichii does the correct thing.

Hey y'all, Satoko may be hurting and upset but she's not actually turned evil or-

Oh, wait, nevermind.

On paper, as a summary, this seems exactly like the kind of story I'd like to see from Higurashi, even with my anticipated ending to it all. How it's actually being done is very disappointing. Was most of the series being a remake fake out an executive order or something along those lines? This is just so rushed here now that we're getting to the end.

The beginning showed to me how Satoko can see that Rika really is a liar, someone willing to say pretty words before tossing her aside so easily. But then it doesn't effectively demonstrate why Satoko would still want such a person in her life. I do think I understand, but it was not demonstrated in this episode.

Then after a hundred years of watching Rika's looping life, does Satoko really feel exactly the same? Does she have no insights outisde "oh, so this is how I can break her will" P.S. Bye Nii Nii?

Shaping up to be disappointing, from someone who really wanted to like this.

EDIT: It was probably more than 100 years, because Satoko clearly saw things that Rika did not, or was that just for us as an audience. Meh.

She had to study to stay with Rika. Her grades are irrelevant but she had to study. But instead of her making a small sacrifice, she demanded from Rika to discard her own life and desires to be with her. Satoko could very easily stay near her. She choose not to. Or are you saying that watching the full plot of Higurashi for 100 years is easier than paying attention in class for 3 years?

How hard could it be in Hinamizawa of all places to make people paranoid?
Satoko making traps is a second nature to her. This is such a low effort scheme, with the biggest part granted to her for laughs, as we saw here.

Pretending to be abused or in pain like in Tataridamashi is nothing. We just saw her killing herself 4 times as if it was nothing.
So yes she isnt even trying.

Compare Satoko living in Hinamizawa and silently sabotaging Rika, after having seen her struggle to Takano who studied like crazy, had to deal with superiors and all the planning since the Dam project. And she had no special powers from a god. This is nothing.

Maybe if she was studying a bit and didn't almost kill other kids with "pranks" she would be able to have a normal life.

In the end nobody else is at fault. She is the one that ostracized herself and put herself below Rika and the others.

She demands sacrifices from Rika but isn't willing to do some herself.

I feel no pity for this unreasonable brat.

Very curious about how the series ends now,
we're obviously getting a continuation, whether it be 12 episodes or what, who knows. Gou is going to have a stage at the Anime Japan event a week after the current season ends, so we will likely get news there. It's very blatant we have more than 2 episodes left lol

5 years of a high school you don't fit and you can avoid
vs
100 years of watching your friends go insane and your best friend being tortured of the most inhuman torture know to man.

WHAT WILL OUR LOOPERTOKO CHOSE??

She still will be a loner because of her personality. Rika still leave her out of her ojou-sama circle - they are just incompatible in this setting.

She didn't. Satoko refused the the first time she was offered. In the second loop is presumed the did the same thing. Satoko self sabotages all the time.

But so is Rika

Being insensitive to your friend's special needs and breaking a promise is not the same as murdering your friend in cold blood and throwing her in the same inhuman torture she escaped from the first time (While saving your ass in the process!) People's argument seem to be "Rika is bad", yeah OK, but Satoko is a literal psychopath who want Rika to spend the rest of her in the same village that torture her for 100 years, she's fundamentally devoid of any empathy at this point.

And Satoko's hell is entirely of her own making, because unlike characters like
or even her 10 years old self, she can just fucking not go to the damn high school!

Community is irrelevant, keep in mind Rika and and Satoko are (apparently) in the normal classes. She made zero effort to befriend anyone. Literally Zero.

Talking about academics is not fair because we saw that Satokos work book was probably entirely filled with scribbles. Unless youre naturally gifted you get no results if you put in no effort.

I have a hard time believing that a rich school has absolutely nothing interesting for students to do. Satokos lack if effort in her studies cut all that out to her anyway.

Satoko being wrong does not make Rika right. Both of them are in the wrong to an extent. Ergo the reason why its so hard to care about either of them.

Takano suffured much more than Satoko, thats not even a question. St Lucia is nothing compared to the Orphanage. Absolutely nothing.

Acedemic ability doesnt mean much. If Satoko is looping she could have easiky used her time to master her work.
When you have Keichii, Rena and evn Irie willing to help you, she could easily improve.

If Satoko could do well on the most likely very competetive entrance exams, she can probably do well here.

The biggest issue IMO is that Satoko was asked point-blank if she wanted to live 100 hundred years of Rika suffering (and her friends dying, including herself over and over, and the extra bonus of reliving her uncle's abuse over and over as well), and she favored that to just looping a few times, cheasing the exams (she can literally get the exam, loop, get the answers and pass), and graduating with the same Rika she said she wanted to remain with.

One of those seems infinitely easier (and doesn't even require studying or undesirable socializing) if the goal is actually staying with Rika and not just wanting to inflict harm on her. After graduation, Satoko can do whatever she wants and still live with Rika.

What happens after is irrelevant because of course 100 years of looping would mess anyone's head (even Rika freaking killed her mother). This was before all that.

ooooh no Satoko has turned into the witch of certainty, oh nooo Rika is reffered as a cat aka witch of miracles, ohh no in the last episode she said something about Ciconia which I didn't even know existed and now I'll have to play, oh no the item that kills loopers could be used on totally not Featherine to brake her one time and them turn her into actual Featherine.

Why am I loving this? it's not good... aaaaaaaaahhh

Lambdelta said Featherine was her enemy right? maybe that's how they will "redeem" this garbage of a "human" being

ahh I don't know how to feel....
