Great episode!
Also we've got the eye stomp, top of the head cut and Ebisu's dress scenes all faithfully recreated, so it's probably safe to say there are no reasons to be worried about censorship. Now some things were painted on/not quite textured still, but it will be super easy to fix for BD releases.

Even then, I might accept that they use CG in something like the lizard guy or vehicles, but I find odd that they use CG mostly for the main cast (including key villains and the main lead) whereas there is great artwork for 2D backgrounds and other not so important characters.

Duh, they want to lower their production costs, not to rise them. Not so important characters than only show up for 10 seconds before dissappering forever are cheaper to hand draw, you don't want to create a new CG model for a couple of shots in one episode. You want to create CG models for reoccuring characters that show up constantly to get the most bang for your buck on them. Like for example if one model costs as much as 10 minutes of hand drawn character animation, it means it is cheaper to hand draw minor characters with less than 10 minutes of screen time while it is also cheaper to CG major characters who have more than 10 minutes across the show.
One exception is zoom out moving crowds shots where you might want to use CG on minor background characters by reusing same models multiple times, multiplying their usefulness per second in the process. Good examples of that are big scale army on army battles.

well that explains why it looks horrible, low budget CG is going to be bad no matter what. End of the story.

This enough for me

That's right, it is enough for you. And that's fine, it's your taste and nothing can change that.

The problem for me, is that there is a constant switch between CG and 2D character models that is straight up bad, specially if the character designs differ from each one of them, you can see the difference between the images I added to my earlier comment, the blonde guy seems rather dull and pale in comparison to the 2D shot he got where he looks more lively (there's that, and the unrealistic physics almost every single CGI anime has that makes their character looks really clumsy and fake)

Considering the good 2D work this anime has, there was literally NO NEED to do CG.

they use CGI because its sponsored by Netflix, and the good part they uncensored, if its 2D believe me many will complaint about shadow/light censor, its sad that many best series become CGI but if Netflix didnt sponsored maybe we'll never got to see the anime adaptation

LMAO, First CG because it lowers the cost of animation, then because it helps not being censored, what's next? CG because it allows for more dynamic tits jiggle physics?

Stop excusing bad CG people, bad CG is bad no matter what excuses you throw up to the table.

You could just drop it if it's that much of a deal breaker for you amigo, I think the CG actually looks just fine and blends well with the aesthetics of the show, the only model I'd criticize is Kaiman's and for me that's mostly just due to the coloring of it. The action scenes this episode looked pretty great and I love how the models are stylized well enough that they look 2D whenever you pause them for a still. I wouldn't call it bad CG at all lol, obviously nothing comparable to Orange's fantastic CG work but still a pretty good showing from Mappa for me, especially because every other part of the production is fantastic. The OST is top-tier already, the voice acting is super well-done, the background art is some of the best I've seen out of a show in ages and the direction so far has consistently been great and has so many touches that make this show seem more like a labor of love rather than a phoned-in adaptation. If it's that bad for you I'd just stop watching the anime.

Not going to drop yet, CG puts me off that's for sure, but at least the other production qualities still hold up for me, so it's not unwatchable as you made it sound. I'm just baffled at how many people accept this horrid CG, but oh well, this is MAL we're talking about, that's self explanatory.

Let's see if this anime lives up to the manga hype.

Well if you can't handle a bit of CG and are invested in the story yeah why not just reading the manga since manga are always better than their adaptations. It's not that hard to just read believe me.

CGI is better in this episode although it's still makes my eyes bleed😣
Why are all girls in this anime so ugly.
I still have no idea what is going on in the story plot wise but who needs a coherent plot when you have edge, edge and more edge.
The blond guy looks a bit like that blond girl I wonder if they are related?

Lots of side stories covered here in this episode, but still as good, if not better than Episode 1. Jarringly, the CG still feels out of place, but definitely getting used to it.

The battle for supremacy with the antagonistic human sorcerers against anthropomorphic creatures just keep coming.

And the "Last Feast" meal to which Fujita conceals to the human sorcerers to take down the magic-nullifying Caiman with transformation, wow what a joke.

In the meantime, Caiman and Nikaido are resting elsewhere scouting for more fun and (of course) information from sorcerers, while the sorcerers are rampaging through to get to Hole to find Caiman.

Crazy episode that's filled with lots of excitement.

I'm not a fan of cgi but I must say that Mappa did a great job with it. Sometimes it even blends well with the amazing looking backgrounds, kudos on that.

However.. this adaption feels super rushed. The pacing is all over the place. This anime doesn't even give me time to digest what's going on. It's been a while since I've read the manga but I'm pretty sure that the pacing wasn't on steroids.
Why does Mappa have to rush it like this. This could've been an amazing adaption.

Actually not so much IMO, I think they adapted 6-7 chapters for now, which is fine for 2 episodes. I feel like they skipped maybe 2-3 scenes from the manga, but you cannot adapt every single thing. Pace seems nice to me, I recently re-read the manga as well. But I can understand it's confusing if you're not familiar with the plot/read it quite some time ago. The plot does jump all over the place, but it should clear up and get less chaotic soon. The manga also gave me the "wtf is going feel" for the first volume or so.

Regarding the CG, it really doesn't bother me (and I dropped every CG anime i started mainly due to the art) and even looks good at some points. I don't know how people can find e.g. Demon Slayer's CG better, where it's so jarringly out of place.

ALSO. I thought they would censor Ebisu's breast with a cloth maybe, but they didn't. The nipples were not shown though, but it didn't feel awkward or out of place at all. Loved it.

Fun fact, they did censored it in the first PV. I'm so glad it wasn't censored in the real thing.

ok, so the dialogue sucks, the "comedy" is not funny and I think I hate every character.
Honestly the over the top violence, detailed background art and impenetrable wall of weirdness is the only thing in this show that interests me.

I would suggest giving some time to the characters, I think they are charming once the cast is consolidated.
Dialogues could get better with the official translation, let's just hope it doesn't came out on Netflix two years from now.
The humour is kind of "unique", you love it or hate it probably.

The transformation scene was nice but stripper Kaiman was a weird sight to see (especially with the weird moves).

I've been looking forward to Shin and Noi making their chaotic entrance in color for some time now, especially with the latter since she's one of the few Amazonian-level buff waifus I'd gladly fawn over out there and this was satisfactory. Despite the CGI, Noi looks really cute here and even though I already finished the manga, seeing her walk with Shin surprised me with how enormous she is.

Nikaido's cool as always and Kaiman casually swallowing Needle's head like that was amusing. I'm excited to see more of Ebisu post-healing lmao

Wow, quite the crazy episode this was. So much happened for my liking but at least, the entertainment factor remains the same. CGI also looked better this time, by the way.

Now on a side note, I think I'm from the minority here but I find Nikaidou awfully unattractive. It's like seeing a young boy's head (or face, to be more precise) attached to a woman's body.

Better episode than the first one, and some of the action with Nikaidou actually looked sick, the slow-mo impact shots were really great and the music continues to deliver as a whole. Nikaidou, Noi I already love those two from these episodes and how they are in the anime (well ignoring the fact that I love the manga) and the others are nice too.
