Durarara!!x2 Ketsu Episode 10 Discussion

this adaption is cramming everything into a compressed timeframe, and it's bothering me. I think that realistically a 15-24 episode anime would've covered the source material a lot better, because though the last volume of the novel was indeed rushed in its own regard, it feels like a lot of details are being passed over, and things are being skipped, and it feels very rushed. This isn't the best adaption imho. The problem is, if the studio had stretched the span, the animation would be even more sloppy than it already looks at times.

It's clear Shuka's got a limited budget, they did stem from Brains Base after all because the studio was never going to give them the time of day to make a season 2, but the fact that they're a budding studio very much shows in the fact that the animation quality is quite iffy in many instances. All the same, I feel it would've been a better choice to expand the episode count because I feel they're trying to cram everything too quickly into this 12 episode frame. And while they certainly capture the intensity of the original novel, the pacing feels a tad speedy, like they're just trying to get things over with.

All the same, it's still enjoyable to finally see it adapted to screen, even if they're still not giving Nasujima enough time for his evildoings even compared to the novel, which gave him pretty spare focus as well, and considering he's supposed to be the last arc's antagonist, this bothers me immensely as a person who actually likes Nasujima and a novel reader alike. The other events also have the same feeling to them. There's a lot of hopping about with little good transitioning even compared to the novel. I'll say I'm slightly disappointed with how this adaption is being handled now, but it beats not getting one at all.
