Dang, I hadn't cried so much since the first season. Beautiful show.

Although the first season hit me much stronger, the second season is still the most remarkable anime of this year. I give it a 10/10 as well.

I have to agree with the general consensus of this thread: 3-gatsu no Lion (as an entire series, but the Second Season especially) is a masterpiece. There aren't many anime that are executed as brilliantly as this, and there probably won't be another adaptation that reaches these levels for quite some time.

The whole series seemed like a work of art to me. Not just the visuals, but how everything was executed. For example, I really liked how each character monologue was very descriptive. Such monologues often used many literary devices to describe the setting, environment, situation, events, and emotions that the character was a part of.

For lack of better words, 3-gatsu felt like a handcrafted poem put to the screen. It was very beautiful and is definitely one of my favorite anime now.

Truly a masterpiece. The art; the animation; the cinematography; the sound design; the character development; I could go on. Just an incredible SoL drama with a spectacular cast of characters. Not a damn character gets left in the dust. Please give us a third season!

Beautiful series 10/10.

I've never seen a show were i watch it and can think, wow these characters are really good, this story is really good, the art blows me away, this music is so good that I'm going to listen to it even when I'm not watching the show AND THEN STILL FIND IT BORING! Wtf is wrong with me. I want to like this show so much but I just can't get into it. There's those 10/10 moments and they're great and all but besides that I'm always bored and just don't enjoy it. I feel so stupid for trying to force something so much but I really want to like this show but I just don't. Ugh, I'm bummed.

Shit taste. Define shit taste. Comparing your own taste and and some other people's then calling theirs shit taste is not very convincing at all. But if you compared one's taste with the community as a whole, when like, 95% of the public opinion consider it good but you consider it is bad, that is what I called having shit taste. It's fine to protect your opinion, but you look desperate af. Yikes

Dude, it is because we have watched 16k episodes that we are so grateful for 3-gatsu to appear. Instead of plethora of shows depicting soul-less and unbelievable drama we prefer a show which resonates with us on a personal basis. When her step mother said "Kiriyama Rei is indeed a good boy", this complex feeling welled up inside me with tears dripping down my face. This was not even the scene with much impact but that was when I suddenly realized how much I truly cherish this anime. I had lost faith in every other anime series except Gintama before 3-gatsu happened.

I respect your own opinion, you can rate it 1 if you want nobody would probably care, but you don't have to criticize every other perspective just because yours is different. It is not like we are going to change our mind.

I wonder what even a bad decision stands for.

I personally didn't like much some episodes, such as 4, 12 and 17-18; but completely loved 5,6,9, and 20-22, so I can't bother with it.

I remember holding this anime off for quite some time back around the start of the 2nd season but i kept seeing more and more about it so i decided eh why not give this a try, once i found out shaft was behind the project it made me want to dive into it. Man 3 Gatsu is such an amazing series everything kiriyama has been through has been so fulfilling to see and taught me many new things. I love the focus on side characters and how they get such interesting plot lines that engages the audience to want to tune in and learn more. I even shed some tears around that hina arc it was soo emotional ha, overall mann this series is soo great thank you so much shaft of theres a 3rd season in the works ill hands down be watching i also might plan on checking out that manga soon much loveee

Ah, what a journey. A rose colored ending.
Children of March town, I like that. The different art style threw me off a bit, but it's still as beautiful.
I like Akari, but how can you blame Rei when Hina is that cute xD Whichever way they go, they will be fine.
The thoughts on leaving childhood, not being able to hold back time in this episode resonated. They are true and bittersweet.
Very good anime, 8/10. I am going to miss it.

Congratulations to the creators, and thank you for the gift that is this story.

Ironic you're trying to look down on MAL, yet you're the exact type of person that makes the community awful.

If you're going to accuse the show of making so many "bad decisions", why don't you actually name some instead of saying you're not going to? If you don't want to post them publicly for any reason you can send me a PM and we can talk privately. Or are you just the type of person who has to let everyone know you didn't like something?

This may come as a shock, but scores are subjective. If someone enjoyed the show and wants to give it a 10/10, there's nothing wrong with that. I think it's hilarious you're trying to act so above everyone else, but in reality you're making yourself look more like an idiot as you insult others. Grow up, stop replying to this thread if all you're going to do is attack other users and move on with your life.

Definitely an improvement over the first season. A better material and a much better adaptation from SHAFT. SHAFT just outdone themselves here with effort (I think this is the first anime series where Shaft didn't produce a single dud episode. It's consistently BD quality in season 2) and also direction. This is coming from someone who think that Shaft did a lot of mistakes in the first half of first season.

Some great little things from this episode:
- It's a very good scene, but I also chuckled fondly when the foster mother said that Kiriyama is "indeed a good boy" when he was cuddling a dog which is also a good boy.
- Akari and especially Momo humming the credit song

Overall 9.5/10 for the second season. Rounding it to 10/10 for MAL, the first 10/10 that I gave since Steins;Gate.

Not much needs to be said i've grown to love Lion ever since it first aired it's been a long ride so far and i'm not ready for it to be over bummed they didn't hint at a S3 yet but i'm sure it will come in due time maybe Q4? or early 2019 wishful thinking.

couldn't get over Hina's cut was reacting the same way as Akari shes too young to be so mature!.

Great ending. Literally I couldn't picture it ending in another way.

Rei vested his foster mom and I loved every second of it! I just knew as soon as I saw her (A new character this late in the story) that it was her. They sat and she talked about what used too happen in the house which, felt so real.. I mean, I can only imagine if someone randomly starts staying with me and my family and started to outwork all of us..

The scene under the moonlight was perfect. It showed all three characters which meant Rei was getting promoted (moving forward) Hina getting into high school (moving forward) and Takashi getting into a well established school. All the characters are moving and progressing.

Rei has come a long way in this series from dealing with past problems to dealing with present problems. Every time he was able to critically think to work things out and that's a lesson for the readers.

Awesome series from Shaft!

I know right, the monologues are written so deeply and descriptive and in almost every other scenario it could be considered borderline cringey but when you put it in context with the story, the characters, and the fantastic presentation by Shaft, it does a 180 and becomes painfully heartbreaking. There's such a use of symbolism, motifs, and metaphors that it so accurately describes what characters feel at any point where it is used, and of course, helps others to sympathize with these feelings too. Even though I am a big fan of Shaft their art style and everything in between, and of course everything else is done perfectly as well, but what really stuck out to me was those internal monologues ever since the first season, and I'm glad I can see someone agreeing with me here on the forums.

A big improvement over first season, really dark at times and really cheerful at other, while being bittersweet and nostalgic most of the time.
Shaft really stepped up the game here, finally they are true to themselves unlike season one. Good job, there.

Litterally every episode they were overdoing themselves constantly. While the second part of S1 was mostly boring and bland, S2 never faltered and managed to stay enjoyable and absorbing for most most of the time.

Now I only need the S3 of the same quality.

8/10

Ooo Rei thinks Hina is cute!! Maybe some romance in season 3! All around, a great season. My only complaint was the lack of Kyouko and Gotou drama. I know it isn't healthy for Rei to be around Kyouko, but I want to see everything work out for Kyouko. I want to see her get her life together, but her being away from Rei might be the best way for that to happen.

The only thing I maybe not like so much about this season is how hard we're going down the Hina route. Which is not necessarily unnatural, but all of a sudden we seem to be walking down two potential romance paths with Akari (Rei's teacher) and Hina (Rei).

But that aside--and even that's not a real complaint--this has been another amazing season of Sangatsu and my only regret now would be that we will probably have to wait a while for there to be enough source material for S3.

Interesting take on what happened in Rei's past coming from his adoptive mother's perspective. You know I really wanted Hina to confess to Takahashi, it was sad when he was leaving, but I guess she understood that they were growing up. Man, I'd love to eat his food though it looks like he knows what he's doing XD Ah Hina's haircut though ... lol, what can I say, I think she the twintails were definitely cuter, but it seems as though Rei's a short hair kinda guy :P Nice way to end with the start of the new school year though!

Overall, the quality of all components were mostly just as strong as the first season. The emphasis on amazing side characters, cinematography, and art/animation were fantastic. However I will say I didn't like the themes as much this season, but the BGM was generally very good. The reason for a lower score is mainly because of the arcs. I felt the first arc went on for a bit too long and just didn't appeal to me that much, though I recognize that it handled quite a sensitive topic and was well done. I loved the shogi one after though XD I also don't really like the romance hints/flags that seem to be going off with Rei/Hina tbh, that was the one thing I actually loved about S1 was the no romance thing going on, which is pretty rare. Other than that I still think this was a very good season and I would definitely watch S3 if it were to happen! 8/10

I don't know what to think tbh. While the season was pretty nicely made and kept me engaged, but the focus was all over the place and stuck me as being confused about what to be about. Even now i don't really know the point of the series other than being sol, while not being normal sol.

And where did that takahashi infatuation come from? Was it really necessary to end the season with this crap?

Amazing episode like always. The shortest way to descripe it - it made me happy. Rei and Hina and the sisters are so well written characters, they feel like real people. I really want them to be happy as if they where friends.

The season in general was amazing. A pure masterpice. Shaft handled this adaption perfectly. I already liked the first one, but this was even better, in every regard. I never gave a series a 10/10 so fast before. Season 3 when?

PS: Akari was so cute this episode
