Good episode. I find it amusing that Sylia gets first credit, but Priss has the most screen time by far.

I really like BGC, but this story arc was just awful. Everything about it dripped melodrama and it felt like such a departure from the mood and feel of the previous episodes. It just didn't feel right at all.

Glad it ended after just two episodes and returned to quality form for the final two episodes.

What say the fools? This was the worst episode so far! Such campy and poorly written melodrama shouldn't sway you just because it's emotional. Phooey!

Completely agree with the first post. Finally understood what the hell was going on. The earlier episodes are a complicated mess, and would probably require multiple rewatches to get everything.

You're complaining about forced melodrama? Seriously? Did you guys not see how they introduced characters in the previous episodes, gave them sad storyline, set up a billion death flags and then killed them off, all within 20-25 minutes? Deaths, which in turn, spurned on our heroines to go on an emotional rampage. If that isn't the very definition of forced melodrama then I don't know what is..

At least in this story arc, we get some actual character build up and had themes of equality (robots basically wanting to free themselves from humans) going on.

Anyway. This was a very cool episode. I liked it.

One question though, did Priss get a robo upgrade during the battle or something? That suit just showed up out of nowhere and started plowing through those 3 fake sabers. Why didn't they just use that suit to begin with anyway..

Because this is a cheesy superhero show. The hero(ine) has to get beaten down and then come back at the last moment, stronger than ever before.

If you pay attention to the previous episodes (hell, just this one), you'll notice that the motoslaves have a certain autonomy in them (be it AI or preprogrammed actions, whatever). Sylia sent it ahead to help Priss along with the new hardsuit while the rest arrived to give them time.

Near the end Largo said to Sylia: "I know... that you and I are two of a kind... because..."

Does it implies that Sylia is a super boomer too?
Two episodes left so maybe I'll get some answers :-)

Another action packed chapter with some great fight sequences. The satellite destruction scene was awesome. Priss is such a cool chick and I love how she went full shounen in her fight with Largo. It's about time she at least went on one date with Leon though.

Sylia's past is becoming more and more interesting. I hope we get some reveals on it soon.

Little disappointed that the 3 v 3 on the roof top didn't exactly pan out. Instead we got lots of crying from Priss and drama with Anri. Oh well, it set up a decent showdown with Largo at the end. Who, OMG, just destroys cities world wide with nuclear-like explosions. Crazy!

Yeah, this seemed a little silly but made for a cool scene I guess. I loved the rocket boot spin kick to the head. Strong style punch at the end and his arm explodes, lol. Good stuff. Leon getting the final shot was a nice touch too. Slow start but fun end.

Were some people watching a different show, what exactly was hard to understand about any of the episodes? This episode was okay. Kind of a shame that the way they decided to show Priss' vulnerable/emotional side has always been for characters that I don't really care about. Also Anri doesn't want to kill people, I guess other than the people she's already indirectly killed.

The melodrama in last episode did see a bit rushed and over the top, leaving me feel more disconnected and confused than anything. However, this episode was much better and added a different feel compared to the first half of the show, which in my opinion was a good thing as the pacing of the action in the first half did feel a bit stale.

Also, Largo's character was hands down the most badass threat in the series so far.

I just realized I'm watching Power Rangers and it reminds me why I liked it as a kid. Cheesy writing but top notch designs from Obari, tech powerups, and this was almost a classic evil rangers episode, except we didn't get a 4 v 4.

Is it cheesy and melodramatic? Yes. Do I care? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah. However, this episode also illustrates why I hate shounen fight scenes. In previous episodes we just had smooth action but here the flow of the fight is compromised by trying to make it conform to the emotional narrative. The fight becomes predictable, choppy, and slow as a result. When Priss gets her powerup, it's a curb stomp battle.

"No way am I getting into bed with you, not even a hospital bed" - now that is the best friendzone line I've ever seen xD

Largo's eyes were inconsistently colored a few times, alongside with a few other things, I think.

Bubblegum Crisis did a JoJo reference with Largo's hand cracking up even before JoJo did it, huh. Knight Sabers surely had some nice tech brought to this episode.

So Sylia and Largo are "two of a kind", huh.

Is it cheesy and melodramatic? Yes. Do I care? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah.

My thoughts exactly. Knowing the ridiculousness of the whole thing makes it even more fun to watch.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is super confused about what's going on most of the time. I keep wondering if I wait too long between episodes, but then I realize that this is an OVA released over the course of a few years - much slower than the pace I'm watching at.

Anyways, this episode was okay. Nothing really stood out to me that much.

Also, people are complaining about melodrama in a series about a heavy metal chick who leads a band of iron man suit-wearing mercenaries to fight off boomers that are basically terminators? Okay.

And the plot thickens!

This episode was very good man. The characters are getting developed slowly but efficiently, especially Priss and Leon. Priss has had lots of things happened to her throughout the OVA, so it makes sense she would decide to quit. At the same time, she keeps being a fighter at heart that will do anything for the ones she cares about, or even the people that mattered the most to those she's met. Can't say I didn't enjoy Priss kicking ass once again, you know how she is.

Leon is still the AD cop that helps from time to time and gets saved by the Knight Sabers, yet he cares about the group and believes in their cause. Shoutout to Nene who trained when the situation got serious (even if she failed her shots) and Sylia who's always been the leader that cares about her team and does what must be done.

Also, I find that the VA for Largo really sold it for me in this once, he did a solid job with the character and gave it that supervillain vibe that raised the stakes by a hundred. Cool stuff.

Perhaps being so straight forward is the problem. People may search for more than meets the eye or a deeper meaning that isn't there.

This was fantastic, loved the design of the three false knight saber boomers, tech samurai terminators lol. Largo's design after transformation was also really cool.

The way they destroyed the sattellite was just epic badass, and the music in the Priss vs Largo fighting sequence was awesome. I'm really liking this, peak early 90s aesthetics.

As other people already mentioned I too liked the interaction between Leon and Priss
and the rebel boomer villain was cool.
But that cheesy shounen-style fight in the end kind of ruined the show for me. Not speaking of melodrama.
Battle suits vulnerable to a knife attack - meh.
Then Priss fought having a wound in her stomach - what!?
Fake sabers who previously almost finished real ones now are shocked by dumb AI mecha arriving on the scene.
And Priss getting her power-up out of nowhere. She got in the exact copy of the battle suit she wore before.
Even a typical battle shounen has usually more justification for that. And we are talking about scifi cyberpunk masterpiece here.

This and previous one episode are rather awfull to be honest. They only help by giving Priss highlight. This one recycles orbital laser thing from earlier, but in preposterous way. Also that super-robot megalomaniac thing is cheesy to the extreme (did it mean to say that Sylia is a megalomaniac droid too? :D) The villain here just comes out of nowhere with an upper hand. With such limited number of episodes in such a great show it's a waste.
Hell is empty and all the devils are here.

Fuck Anri. What an idiot. I mean, I haven't been absolutely loving Bubblegum Crisis because of its amazing characters and avoidance of tropes but I always hate idiot characters that get manipulated into revenge for silly reasons. Like, Anri has 0 doubts about the shady dude that kidnaps people and shoots lasers and shit? That seemed like the guy to trust unconditionally about who really killed your friend? Get the fuck out of here.
