It's hard to believe that something so small like calling your significant other by the first name could be so satisfying! What I liked most about it was how none of them had to think about it to hard and be like "nooo, I can't say it, hazukashiiii~!", I always hate that part. Here it was said with full confidence, without unnecessary hesitation :3 I don't think these two had similar moment to that ever since episode 15 of Bakemonogatari! Gotta love Hitagi's sulky face! <3 ClariS ending song was awesome as always, although I'd prefer it to have some brand new animation, rather than re-using shots from the older ones... Oh well. Too bad there was no opening to this arc, although Chiwa Saito isn't exactly my favourite Monogatari singer anyway, so I can live with that until BD release comes out :> |

Their date are so lovely, I was wondering what happen if the girl isn't Hitagi, what chemistry would they do (like Tsubasa or Kanbaru). I love it when Hitagi expecting lewd thing from Araragi when he wins |

One of the best couples anime has ever produced. Sorry fans of other ships, Senjougahara is just too perfect with Araragi! *Absolute obedience for the rest of his life* The last part was so fascinating. Ougi is one of the most, if not, the most fascinating character in the whole Monogatari series so I am all hyped for the final three episodes of this segment! 5/5 |

Great episode, I still love the whole Koyomi/Hitagi chemistry. The date was so much fun to watch and Hitagi is just finding the right words to seem really harsh but still with the best intentions. Ougi was mysterious as ever, I'm dying to know her true identity now... only three episodes left :3 |

It was good to get an episode (or 2) where hitagi and koyomin can be together, because it really took ages since bake. But I just dont get the right vibes from them. I acknowledge Senjougahara as a great character, but not one I particulary enjoy. I know its her entire character to be that way but she flips between personalities to easily for me to take her serious. Not even taking into account how much more araragi works with the other girls. Their whole relationship just seems kinda forced to me. This might be extremely unpopular but she works better with Kaiki. While Araragi works better with pretty much everyone else. PS: has it really been 6 month till their laste date? If so I seriously have to feeling for the timeline here. Or maybe they just dont count the small ones in between. PS: the after ed scene made this great. |

The Senjo/Araragi relationship is just dumb High School wish fulfillment like fills a lot of Japanese media/anime. Otaku would LOVE to have the tall, beautiful, sophisticated girl. Deal's with Japan's 'settling' mindset. Settle, have two children, move on, become 'an obsequious tadpole in the corporate world'. Rinse, repeat. Sigh. It was the same with Naruto. Instead of the interesting relationship that should've happened with Sakura, Naruto 'settled' with the boring girl, Hinata. The homespun girl who's plain but produces good children. Sigh. This high school boy's wish fulfillment with high school boy Araragi and hs girl Senjo, in this show that hasn't made me once believe in their relationship as a real thing with real emotions except that it's 'expected'; it's so, so lame. 'The author hasn't paid any attention to our relationship' but 'we will surely get married one day because for status and ease of casual use, we have become a romantic pair in the background', 'we will surely now be in love because it's what is expected of us though it is not earned in the least bit'. And the two dolls with unreadable faces were wed, literally since these two idiots can barely say a word to each other. A relationship of expedience, lazy, gets things done the quickest. Just like Fullmetal Alchemist. I hate bad romance, fake romance. It gets so many sighs from me. Ougi is cool. |

Damn, this has got the sweetest episode for Araragi and Senjougahara. The scene in which the car was bathed in sunset whilst them calling each other by their first names while dropping the honorifics were the best one. The next episode will be really good, it seems that Ougi is trying to persuade Araragi to be on her side in the upcoming battle, but of course that wouldn't happen. I also thought that up until now Ougi was that "darkness" which corrects the abnormalities of the so-called "abnormalities" or "apparitions" in the world, but she says that she isn't, I can't wait to find out. |

Fantastic date arc, loved every bit of it. Hitagi losing to Koyomi in both bowling and Karoke was rather surprising. Love how Hitagi chose Futakotome and got an 82. And Koyomi choosing Chocolate Insomnia was pretty funny too. Also love how you can hear Platinum Disco playing for like a brief moment at the karaoke place. So, what up with that dream sequence, and why was Koyomi not phased by it? Cause idk about the rest of you, but I know that I'd be very confused if that happened to me. Also, their conversation at the end there was in the real world right? As interesting a Ougi is, she creeps the hell out of me. Ima be choked if Koyomi decides to help Ougi... |

Man, what an amazing episode, from that talk with Ougi to the date with Senjougahara to a talk with Ougi again. We finally know now why the specialists are cursed, we don't know what Meme and Izuko's curse is though yet. They got cursed because they messed with life, makes sense. Since, Izuko revived Araragi, she'll probably be cursed again. So Ougi is the universe huh and if she says she's not darkness then it must be true. If she's not darkness, the only thing I can think of now is that she is born from Araragi. That date though, holy shit. That might just have surpassed episode 12 of Bakemonogatari. Senjou's attitude after losing the games was so cute lmao. Never has finally calling each other by their first names in a romance ever been this amazing, nothing can top that. Man, I am so looking forward to getting to Ougi Dark, let's fucking go. |

This is brilliant 👏 This episode makes ougi oshino 100x more interesting than it already was and she did say that there's some kind of punishment to people whos involved in resurrecting someone to life so what is the punishment? i have a lot of questions in this episode like what's the motivation behind ougi's desperate objective that he want's to achieve even if he dies im looking forward of answering this questions. Simply brilliant episode Also senjougahara and araragi's moments is just way to wholesome |

Wowowow that was such a good episode. Definitely one of my favorites from the whole franchise. I think I'm really starting to see why people love Owari S2 so much. Now, well, obviously I have a tons of things to say. Firstly, in case some people didn't notice because I myself wouldn't have if I didn't check the time : there's a post-credit scene. A freaking good post-credit scene. Now, let's first talk about the first half about the constellations. Plot aside, I loved that scene because I'm always in for some interesting facts, even more so if it's related to myths and legends. But that aside, that was very dense and quite hard to follow, because between trying to remember all the trivia, being in awe over the aesthetic (the music when Serpens has been brought up was so good) and trying to understand what it means in terms of metaphors and plot, I had to rewatch the scene a few times. And even then, I still have some interrogations. But from what I got-at least until the post-credit scene messed a bit with everything-, Ougi commanded for Araragi's execution because she is seeking for a particular form of rightness, that's basically her mission and she will get rid of anything that goes against it. She considers that people have to do something wrong in order to do the right thing (someone's been watching too much Madoka), and that trying to do the right thing doesn't mean that's what you are actually doing. And her goal is to find/create the ultimate form of rightness that is above all this. There are specific laws that she doesn't allow anyone to go against, that includes Araragi. People who go against the rules are cursed, and apparently that will happen to Gaen since she brought Araragi back to life (and resurrection is one of the things that are considered against the rules since it messes with the universe's balance). So, as I always thought, she has morals that are interesting and even nobles, but she is so extreme in that that it becomes wrong for our human point of view. At the universe's scale, it's good, but at an individual scale, it's messed up. Well, isn't that consequently doing something bad in order to achieve something good ? A detail I found interesting is that at one point, she was shown eerily standing in front of fire (I thought it was the sun but I'm really not sure). And at another point, when she was talking about Serpens, she appeared like a divinity descending from Heaven. Hell on one side, Heaven on the other... I doubt it's a total coincidence. It's like she's both at once, both an evil entity and a divine creature, but she's also neither. She described herself as a law of the universe, I think that's fitting with the point I'm trying to make. Also, interestingly and weirdly enough, this scene both confirmed that Ougi asked a specialist (Gaen ?) to get rid of Araragi and Shinobu, and that she and Gaen are ennemies. But then if she asked Gaen (which is most likely the case since she is the one who killed Araragi), then it raises once again the question of why Gaen even followed that order if she is against her, and if that's not her, then who is that specialist ? I'm sure the answers can be found in that scene but I most likely missed out on some important details. And anyway, what I'm explaining here are my thoughts from before the end of the episode which, as I said, brought some changes. Oh, just one last thing before skipping to the Araragi/Senjougahara date : Ougi once again said that "I don't know anything, you're the one who knows" line, but this time she added "at least, you should". I found that interesting. Also, that's something I always think about, she shares some important knowledge for someone who "doesn't know anything", that's intriguing. But now, let's dive into the wholesome part ! That whole date was super cute which was much needed after the Ougi scene. I'd even dare to say that those two Hitagi Rendezvous episodes made Senjougahara take Shinobu's place in my Monogatari characters ranking (or at least they're now equal). I don't think there's a whole lot to say because it was mostly cute interactions between Koyokoyo and Crab girl (which is why I didn't talk about episode 3, though I could've still mentionned the Ononoki scene), but it was nice to see such good development for both of them. It was already obvious, but now more than ever, that Senjou is harsh towards Araragi because she truly loves him and is genuily saddened by the fact that he is always restraining himself with her. But finally, he's calling her by her first name and he isn't ashamed to do so ! Now he made me happy. Also, the karaoke scene was quite hilarious, and I loved the forth-wall break with them singing the show's openings, though I really wanted to hear them sing, at least a little bit. It's always frustrating to get a karaoke scene without getting to hear the characters sing. But overall, that was very fun and adorable. And now the post-credit scene. It was... Mindblowing. It just came out of nowhere and subverted my expectations in the best way possible and now I don't know what to expect and I love it. And at the same time, it surprised me without surprising me. Like it went against what I got from those last episodes but at the same time it totally aligns with my view of Ougi, because I've always seen her as a threat without being evil herself (which is actually exactly how I summarized the informations from the constellations scene). What immediately hit me is the sad vibe this scene had. Not only the music but also the way Ougi was animated, and even her tone of voice. Made me a bit emotional and I don't even know why since I can't quite grasp what's going on. But I'll try to summarize what I understood. Ougi claims that she never said she exterminated Araragi, and when I think about it she indeed never did. It's Teori (I finally remembered his name !) who told him and he remembered it during the constellations scene. But Ougi didn't tell him that's what she did, though what she actually said indeed could bring confusion. And apparently that's what is going on, she's viewed as evil because her actions and words are very ambiguous, she's wrongly portrayed as some maniacal villain because of that. She's not innocent either, but it's complicated. What I also think is that since the constellations scene is Araragi's dream, what's going on in it is influenced by his own view of the situation. In reality, it is a lot more complex than what he thought (and it already was complex enough !). Basically, the dream isn't a lie, but it's missing informations. But then, one of the main questions is : did Teori tell Araragi the truth ? Most likely yes, but it's not as simple as simply saying Ougi got Araragi killed because he was a nuisance to her. But it seemed that way because Teori cannot actually understand Ougi. No one can, expect Araragi if he tries to understand her (that's something you can find in many of her lines ever since her very first scene). As Ougi said, that's "a sad misunderstanding". Now I can't say with certainty what she actually did and why she did so,but two things are practically sure, her intents aren't malicious and she is misunderstood. Furthermore, she claimed that she isn't the Darkness. That declaration is first very interesting because it means the show purposely made it look like Ougi being the Darkness seemed like the logical answer (which means my theory wasn't based on overanalysis). But she isn't the Darkness. And at the same time, her not being the Darkness doesn't mean she isn't controlling it. My theory wasn't that she literally is the Darkness since it is described as a thing, but that she is controlling it in some way. I really doubt Ougi is completely unrelated to the Darkness, so whether she is controlling it or her existence is connected to it in some way. Or maybe there's really no connection at all but it seems very unlikely to me. Another thing is that in the dream, she told Araragi she wanted to stop having anything to do with him and that she wanted him to abandon Shinobu and Hachikuji. And in the post-credit scene, she didn't go against those words, but just like for everything else, she added nuance. What I'm getting from her telling Araragi to abandon Shinobu and Hachikuji (which I already had in mind during the dream sequence) is that they are harmful to him in some way. I'm not sure in what way (though it probably has something to do with the resurrections and that curse), but I believe that's something like that. The fact that she added she didn't have much faith in him actually doing it seems to go along with that. She's not ordering him to do it, but she has that slight hope that he will do it. And regarding how she wants for Araragi and her to stop being around each other, I think that's something similar. I've been almost always under the impression that her affection towards Araragi is sincere, that she genuily cares a lot about him, so I was a bit confused when it turned out she ordered his murder, and even more when she said she wanted for him to stop being around her. Of course she could've been totally manipulating him from the beginning (no matter what, she's been manipulating him to some extent anyway) but there were a lot of her reactions and words that seemed to say otherwise. And now with that scene, I once again am practically convinced that she does care about him and that her current violent actions and words aren't a proof of Araragi being some toy and/or nuisance to her. I feel like it is more that she needs to come to terms with whatever is her mission which will be beneficial for both of them, or else things will only get complicated for both of them (I barely mentionned that for this episode but I am still pretty sure there is an important connection between them, after all Araragi did see her in his dreams, that's telling). Now, as we already know Gaen is setting up a trap for Ougi, and what's more is that Ougi knows about it but will have no choice but to fall into it anyway. Basically she can't avoid confrontations but it will be difficult for her to fight alone, and for the first time she is asking Araragi for help, after having always been the one to help him. It's even more interesting that she is actually showing a vulnerable side in that scene, a side we've never seen until now. (An animation detail I found particularly interesting is that there's a shot of Ougi smiling with her teeth showing. That's the first time we ever see her with a "normal" smile rather than her usual spooky smile. It's humanizing her in a way.) And now Araragi will be confronted to a dilemma. Gaen dragged him by her side at the end of Mayoi Hell, but now it's Ougi, the "enemy", who wants for him to side with her. And with everything that's going on the choice will only be difficult for him. Initially, when he blindly listened to Teori's and Gaen's words, the choice to side against Ougi seemed obvious, but now... It's complicated, for a lot of reasons. I really don't know which would be the best decision to make in that case. Now with all that said there's still the possibility that Ougi was totally manipulating Araragi in that scene specifically because she knows she can't fight Gaen alone (and either way I wonder what kind of trap Gaen really has in mind to come off as such a threat to someone described as "a law of the universe"). That smile at the very end could be a hint. That's definitely not my main theory because everything ever since we first met Ougi, and even before actually, seems to go in the direction I'm the most expecting the show to take, but we never know. .. And one last thing : all that stuff shouldn't make us forget about Kanbaru, Karen and Tsukihi. Are they even okay ? Edit : Wait a second I totally forgot to mention the part about Ougi insinuating she has the power to mess with reality. That's not really a surprise but now that it's confirmed, the implications are huge (which makes me even more curious about Gaen's trap, how can you even be more powerful than an entity capable of bending the world at her will ?). And Ougi saying the Araragi/Senjou date would be the last is making me very worried. Judging by her answer to Araragi stating it's their last date "as students", it's pretty clear he got it wrong and it's literally their last. At the same time, Ougi mentionning how she didn't intervene in this date so that they could enjoy it seems to imply the power to make this date the last isn't in her hands, not entirely at least. But I really wonder what it means, don't tell me they're gonna kill off Senjougahara ?! Or maybe, which is most likely actually, either the Gaen vs Ougi fight or the end of Ougi's mission might lead to the end of the world ?! Now I feel like anything can happen. But one thing that made me laugh though, is Ougi telling Araragi he should be grateful that she didn't intervene during their date. Yeah, thanks Ougi for not messing with what could possibly be his last moments of happiness ! Such a kind attention. |

A fantastic episode that had so much to offer. Not only was the trip to the planetarium adorable, but it was also informative. Both from the story as well as astronomical knowledge perspectives. It felt like a return to the "This Starry Sky" scene in Bakemonogatari, which is one of my all time favs. One more extended episode in this Owari 'final' monogatari. Although it appears to be 3 episodes on MAL, unless I've lost count somewhere in these bundled eps. I'm interested to see how this wraps up, but so far I'm happy so see Hitagi and Koyomi together again. |

Really thought the obedience thing would be used for Araragi to uncover why Senjougahara couldn't hang out at night, maybe getting her involved with the plot, but nah, they just used it for the most fucking cliche anime trope of all time. If not for Ougi, this episode would've been pretty much fluff, but I think Senjougahara being worst girl is on purpose. Logically, Hachikuji and Shinobu shouldn't exist, which is why Ougi wants to delete them. However, if that were to happen, Koyomi would be stuck with just Senjougahara and (pre checkered hair) Hanekawa, which would be nowhere near as interesting, so that kinda gives justification for Koyomi to go against Ougi. I'm probably just coping really hard tho, and the author wanted to include some sappy ass scenes before the show gets depressing as fuck. Can't really blame him, but it won't work. |
