It has been revealed on the Tuesday's release of this year's 16th issue of Futabasha's Manga Action magazine that Nobuaki Kanazawa's horror novel series Ousama Game (King's Game) will receive a TV anime adaptation. Titled as Ousama Game The Animation, the series will premiere in October 2017 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and BS11. The official website and Twitter for the anime adaptation have been opened and announced the cast and staff members for the anime.

Synopsis
Nobuaki Kanazawa, who transferred to a high school far away, is afraid of getting intimate with his new classmates because of the events that happened from his previous school. This led him to shut his heart. However, he starts to open up during the sports festival's class relay. He and all his classmates received an email from "Ousama." At first, his classmates didn't take what they were told seriously, thinking it's just a joke, but Nobuaki, the only one who knows the real meaning of it, fights against the "death" game that will soon begin...

The rules of the Ousama Game are as follows:
1. All class members must participate.
2. The order sent by Ousama thru email must be followed within 24 hours.
3. A punishment will be given to those who don't follow the order.

Ousama Game is a five-volume cellphone novel by Kanazawa under the pen name Pakkuncho. Futabasha has released three editions of the novel's compilation so far; a 12-volume tankobon and bunkoban format, and a new Junior Bunko label edition. The latest edition's sixth volume was released on March 15. Four manga adaptations were also inspired by the novel beginning with a five-volume series, followed by another five-volume sequel, a six-volume prequel, and a four-volume side story. The franchise has also received a film adaptation and a tie-in game adaptation in 2011.

Sounds interesting. That cast tho.
MAL has no influence on Japanese Anime/Otaku industry so Self-righteous Elitist people here are really wasting their time on writing 'Critical Reviews'.

Nobuaki Kanazawa wrote a novel about Nobuaki Kanazawa :P
This is exciting, with all those characters, I wonder how it'll end up. I've heard about the movie when it was released, and even tried to watch it, but I didn't get to do it in the end. A handful of new seiyuu are picked here too like Konomi Yuuzaki (cheering on you!)~ Looking forward to this! More thrilling shows are always welcome~

Let's see. A survival game (or so is what the plot implies), with implied supernatural elements, a big cast of characters (who implies lots of fodders) and rules who indicate people is probably going to die here. Are we before another Mayoiga/Another?

I'm excited about this.

Interesting, this is one of the few manga that I've bought, but never ended it because of money.
Hope it turns out to be a good adaptation

Crowded Casting

So? Is this some kind of Battle Royale Sudden Death Game?

>Studio Seven

Quite Expecting some borderline here (If you know what I meant)

I'd bet they keep push towards every set of characters who will die all throughout the show then afterwards it will ended just like Mayoiga that had done RIGHT..

Having read the manga, I hope that this reaches Pupa-tier levels of infamy if it's a short (which looking at the studio's other excellent offerings, I suspect).

Hmm kinda skeptical with the staff but at the same time I'm kind of interested with the stuff it'll have. Depending on its length and all it could work out decently.

Though people said that the ending was shit but will see how this one goes. As long as the ending isn't the type that will basically throw off all possible concepts away and just make it to where everything seems contradicting at the ending, then I'm okay with that.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Well that's one hell of a cast. Too bad that their roles are going to be short lived. Read the Manga, and it was really disappointing. But I'm going to watch it anyway because I want to watch a certain scene animated. That might be unlikely though if it follows the novel instead of the Manga...

Well yeah, no.
I rarely saw novels with ratings so low on amazon tbh. Rating for the manga adaptation is catastrophic as well. I can't expect anything from that I'm afraid.
Cast has plenty of very talented seiyuu though, can't deny that point.

Would've much rather seen the prequel Ousama game-Kigen adapted than this one, maybe as a ova series or movie. But I'll probably still watch this when it comes out anyway.

Well judging by the comments posted by the others it does not looks like a great series but neverthless i am excited about this because horror animes are quite few and rare compared to other genres in anime so i will definitely check it out and i hope that it will be atleast a 12 episode tv series.

Battle Royale pretty much created a new sub genre. Having more stories in this sub genre automatically means that they're influenced by battle royale. With your mindset, every single novel in the world is a rip off of the first novel in that sub genre, so I don't think that's a very smart way to see this.

I hope they don't stick to the manga because it was so freaking bad. Haven't read the novel so I don't know how true the manga is to the novel.

But yeah the manga started off well then started to go downhill fast. The plot twist at the end was the icing on the cake -- just so freaking stupid.

I didn't even know this was from a novel; I only ever read the manga. In that case, I have no idea what's different between the two. I imagine not much. If this will indeed be adapting what I've read, then I'll probably pass. The large cast looks intimidating, but it doesn't mean much.

Lol that's a lot of casts....

And yes, I also hope for anime original. I remembered reading this months ago and how underwhelming it is for 20 chapters series and how it ended.

What surprised me is that they got plenty of spinoffs and sequels and prequels lol. I guess it's quite popular enough in Japan, I wonder if those spinoffs and sequels made the first one more enjoyable, but I don't plan to read or look it up unless the anime pique my interest.
