So they jumped back into the action this episode.

For some reason, I couldn't take Eru seriously when he was wearing that blue suit though. So yeah, after the talky episodes, we got one filled with action. Kerhild is also really tough...

Action packed episode.
Seams the theft was a success even if only one made it out still the technology falling into enemy hands wasn't on the mains mind.
I guess he will have to do something about it not to mention that his other ideas which he hasn't developed or worked out yet might be in danger as well.

The enemy managed to steal one of the new knights. Ernesti needs to be more careful.

Archid accidentally set that trap. I thought he purposely did it. Either way, Good job.

A nice action packed episode. There was an attack on the fortress and the enemy managed to steal one of the new knights. I'm glad Edgar is alive. He put up a good fight. It's nice to see Dietrich gain more confidence. Ernesti is in command of the new knightly order to take back the stolen knight.

But for now, Eru need to do things about that new Order.

Very strange episode with a lot of inconsistencies in what the pilots can actually see in those mechas. And lots of standing still in a fight like the one in the fortress but i guess we need the convenience to show how the MC knows everything about the mechs he designed. (or was it budget restrictions?)
For someone with interest in combat realism it looked extremely weird.

I did enjoy that the other characters got a chance to shine even though they rarely improve from background decoration soon to be forgotten.

Sadly the useless exposition continues. I guess the Author loves to brag about the blatantly obvious stuff we can see on screen. Mental ego masturbation perhaps?

All in all i enjoyed it. It's an very average light weight mech show and considering the grave lack of Mech shows in general it gets a boost from the need and want to see more Mecha. I just hope the next work the author makes improves upon his mistakes in this one cause he's got the thinking nailed perfectly in terms of setting.

So bad. Really. This episode was full of rush - no battle scene in vilage attacked by the monsters, no explanation about stealth mech, etc. Probably will drop this, because light novel is so much better.

What a pathetic bunch of Knights. This anime is great at teaching how to be a coward. Ernesti should ditch these clowns for another nation that will appreciate his talents.

Ahh... I needed that. After massive disappointment that was 16th episode of Re:Creators this one, packed with action and enjoyable characters, was like a breath of fresh air.

Yes, narrator is really unnecessary sometimes and action can go from "this is great" to "Berserk 2016" from time to time, but i have a feeling that this show is just getting better and better with each episode.

And talking about this episode, it's real shame that they cut battle with beasts at the end, and Gear movement looked... wonky at times. And i wish that they would hire better compositor, because music here is forgettable at best. But except that, it's just as i want it to be. Fun and sometimes really gorgeous.

Lots of action in this one, and the enemy got their hands on one of their mechs. Not gonna lie, the name of Ernie's group that was formed at the end is really cool.

What inconsistencies? and the mecha are not meant to be fast as you can clearly see plus they're using ranged attacks and shields, a standing battle is obvious.

Nice fighting episode, liking this series so far. I have a problem with them only thinking it was another outside power after the fight. What happened to the defeated pilots that were beaten? Every single one killed? No captures? ...even the one fell to Kid's accidental wire trap? He's just upside down in the lake. Guess we have to assume he sprung a leak and drowned.

Am I the only one who thinks that, by now, Ernesti's attitude is bordering sociopathy? How can he says stuff like "I can't engage those mechs w/o a mech, that'd be against my sense of aesthetics" when ppl are dying as he speaks? Putting aside the fact that, perhaps, nothing of this would've happened if he stayed away from his "hobby", does he even care that ppl out there are suffering and getting killed because of his actions?

Also, I can understand that Ernesti can be a bit of a sociopath but... why is nobody calling him out on that? And why would the king entrust this kid with a whole new knightly order? I can understand the need of having him on your side but... do politics count anything in this show? Wouldn't it make more sense to give the command of the unit to an actual noble or some other person the king personally trusts on political matter, rather than a brilliant engineer who's still just a kid and doesn't necessarily have the skills to guide a military unit or take more complicated decisions?

I understand that, to an extent, this is supposed to be mainly about mechas, but there're so many handwaves and illogical decisions (from a real life perspective) that I think are absurd even by the standards of a mecha anime (for example, Evangelion was a lot more realistic about many of the aforementioned issues)

Wouldn't be a mecha anime without mechs being stolen.

The one eyed female leader enemy seems like a pretty interesting character too compared to all the other flavorless side characters that all fawn over how amazing the MC is. Hope she gets a lot of screen time this season.

Well he can't do much against mechs by himself though.
And about entrusting Eru with a knight order... In light novel there is whole scene with king and protagonist talking about how to make it work and how it will go with NTR (research center for mechs). This Order was made precicely because king didn't want conflict between Eru and NTR and all the operation of the order has to be overseen by Duke Dixgard. But all of it was cut from anime.

Ernesti is one of the most unlikable, annoying main characters I've encountered. As I said in my earlier comment, this episode was the best of the season so far.... and it's also the episode where Ernesti has barely any screen time.

I mean.... it's not a coincidence.

I think this is how the author envision when he first wrote this as a WN, a individual brings in game-breaking technological advancement to the isekai. motivated neither by lofty goal to protect the nation and save lives, nor common goals like fame, position and money (like how Ernest shoved all the responsibility and glory to the Marquis last episode), but pure interest of indulging in his hobby without taking consideration of how this will impact the isekai. So yeah he does have the side of soiciopath in him in this sense.

As for nobody calling him out on that, as for this episode, it's clear that an nation got its hand on the latest model of the kingdom's Silhouette Knight, and that the said nation might use the technology gained to wage a war with the kingdom.

So the king only has 2 choices: killed off Ernesti to prevent further technological leakage or aid Ernest financially in the guise of promoting him as the leader of a new knightly order to further the development of new Silhouette Knight to prepare for the coming war. Since killing Ernesti now would bring more harm than benefit to the kingdom and he is quite predictable (he won't betray as long as his hobby is supported), the king chose the later.

p.s. Ernesti is grandson of the principal of the established school and his father a former knight. So I don't think Ernesti's social position is that low to get disqualified the post he is given.

Yep, This is Ernesti "illness" you could say. He is mentally unstable too in the light novel. He will kill shit tons of people later and doesn't feel anything because His thinking is "mecha" not "human inside mecha". I'm pretty sure some of his friend is concerned about him. Ernesti is a fuckin psychopat.

This episode was shit. The fighting scenes was cut so short, you can hardly call it a fight.

The twins actually had a very long fight vs the stole Telestale knight. Ironically enough, anime used a regular knight instead. Twins fired arrow after arrow, to the point of running out, but the armor deflected pretty much every single shot. They could only hold their own against him because the pilot had hard time adjusting fighting tiny annoying things flying about. Eventually the moon came out from behind the clouds and lit up the forest, allowing the pilot to clearly see the little bastards, this is when Achid were sent flying.

When the knight tripped in the wire and fell down, he did not fall into the water, but on the ground instead. While knights pilot twins fought were recovering from the shock of impact, twins opene the hatch and knocked him out, Eru style. They could not use the machine because eye crystal got damaged after the fall.

Copper Knight lady boss had to use her "special" move to stop Edgar, but it cost her machine an arm in the process.

Dietrich actually had a pretty intense fight vs multiple deamon beasts, by description it was an awe inspiring fight. Eventually he got helped by the armored knight wielding a warhammer.

Speaking of warhammer knight, that is the rabbit knight order captain personal machine and is considered the strongest machine in the order. He actually crushed several knights during their fight in the castle.

Overall, this episode was shit.

The problem is that his motivation is not that he "can't do much against mechs", but that "only mech should destroy other mech", because to do otherwise would go against his own "sense of aesthetics". As others mentioned, too, this is what arguably qualifies Ernesti as a bit of a sociopath - in that, he values his own love for mecha more than human lives.

I'm not saying they should call him out on his willingness to build mecha, but on his callous disrespect for human lives and other "social concerns", in favour for a one-minded obsession towards mechas. I can understand, say, the king not doing so because he might have a vested interest in Ernesti acting like that, but I would expect at least some among Ernesti's closest friends to eventually take issue at his personality issues eventually.

p.s. Ernesti is grandson of the principal of the established school and his father a former knight. So I don't think Ernesti's social position is that low to get disqualified the post he is given.

I'll admit that I did overlook Ernesti's own title in all this - but still, this at most justifies the king's willingness to put him in the newly formed order, not the sort of "carte blanche" he was given to do as he sees fit.

Definitely one of the better episodes of this show, to say the least. Looks like the rebels are up to no good by having committed a taboo and now that they have stolen a new form of the Silhouette Knight. It'll be interesting to see how the rebellious organizations takes advantage of the Silhouette Knights and what they have in store for us.

Can't tell whether Dietrich is pleased or not with his accessment though. So in exchange for the new units the school will be getting newer suits then eh. Sounds like a good deal. Seems these new enemies have mecha's with them as well and they seem to be crafty ones as well. So their objective was to infiltrate the fort and steal the new units eh. Can't believe they actually got in though. Hmm the mecha of the knight commander certainly looks the part and looks impressive as well. So spies from another nation eh. But the spies really are underestimating Edgar and D though. Lol Addy and her brother sure are brave in deciding to provide support to the knights though. Well i guess that the new units were made in a group effort so i can see why Addy will be so angry though. Still i guess this is the kind of situation that the gears were created for in the first place. To provide infantry support to mecha's as they engage the enemy. Wow to think that the gears can be used that way to defeat larger mecha's though. Still to use his own knowledge against machines that he built though thats Ernie for you. But man these gears really are proving to be pretty effective though. Man that was a close one for kid but lol to inadvertently cause his grapple to turn into a tripwire though lol. Hmm as expected the leader of the spies really is a strong combatant.

To think that Edgar would lose though but such is the skill of the enemy. So even as the enemy left a beast attack comes to replace it eh. Seems that D is averse to running having seen how cowardly that was. Plus it will means leaving his friend to die as well. Good thing Ernie and the knight commander arrived in time though. Wow Ernie managed to get a promotion to knight commander eh lol. The order of the silver phoenix eh. Catchy name. Quite the action packed episode actually and it was interesting to see a new enemy faction emerge as well.

For the longest time I couldn't put my finger on my problem with Ernesti and I think someone finally did it for me. Yes, I too think there's something fundamentally psychological about Ernesti's seeming obsession with mechas above all else. Would I call him sociopathic? Maybe not, but there is something to the notion that he was thinking about his sense of aethestics when every ordinary person would either be scrambling to escape or save people. And I don't think he was necessarily thinking "it would be futile to go against a mecha without any equipment"--this is the same guy who, the first time he got on a Silhoutte Knight, went against that giant tortoise when he had no idea whether he could prevail.

Even if the adaptation itself followed the source material closely, it still wouldn't get rid of this problem that the MC has absolutely nothing going on other than mechas in his mind. Sure, some people might see that as charming, but it does take away a lot of the flavor in a series compared to a MC who had other emotions or concerns.
