The moment I saw Fango saying "make sure you savor it" with that psycho look on his face I knew something was off. I was expecting antipasto first, though. 5/5

I kind of disliked Fango this whole time, but that lasagna moment made me appreciate him A LOT. Does that make me twisted?

I didn't really know how to place that last scene where Avilio/Angelo talked about Fango's enemies being theirs now. Guess it'll become clearer to me in the next episode(s).

Anyway, great episode. Might even be my favourite so far.

Brilliant episode! Truly brilliant! Although I wasn't at all surprised by the lasagna twist at the end, the rest of the episode was equally trilling and deep. I especially loved Angelo's "I really put my heart into it", because it was exactly in place to seem normal in a joking conversation, yet also speaks the painful truth of a boy who has dreamed of killing his family's murderers night after night.

The only thing that was slightly unnerving for me was the animation in the latter half of the episode. The changes in the way Don Orco's top hairs were drawn, as well as the odd noses and overall profiles in some of the scenes were somewhat bothersome, but can thankfully be easily overlooked.

Is it me or did the opening animation change in this episode?
Avilio/Angelo seemed to have more of an orange glow when he fell over...
The image of Fio and Ronaldo(?) seems to flash by in orange too
Is it just my eyes?

Edit: There seems to be a clearer image of Corteo's face just before the shot with the x on the paper too...?

You are right! It seems they touched up the opening in a couple of places.
The first scene where Angelo is walking through the city, as well as the following one where he is running through the woods now have mist/smoke floating through. In the one where he is running as a child, the scene had a brownish hint to it before to symbolize a past event, but now it's blue with Angelo surrounded by orange, which to me seems like that of a street lamp.
The transitions from cut to cut during the wedding part, the chorus and the part where Angelo's brother is running all have the same "fraction" effect added.

I like the new look of the opening, honestly. It feels a bit more dynamic and alive. =D

Angelo wasn't the only one who put his heart into something; Don Orco's heart certainly went into that lasagne. :D

I agree about the opening, it certainly stands out more. I'm hoping it's going change even more throughout the season.

I'm surprised Angelo willingly revealed his name to Don Orco. Even though Angelo must have already explained the whole plan to the group, letting slip that sort of information is pretty dangerous. Had Don Orco let that out while they were toasting to Nero's "death", who knows, that could have been bad. Although "Avilio" has already claimed he's an only child, he shouldn't have known about the Lagusas. Seemed like a pretty flawless plan. Except for Volpe getting short. Glad it was only a shoulder wound. It's always a shoulder wound.

Yeah, and this is my all time gripe with this series, Avilio's "plans" ALWAYS relies on luck. IF Fango didn't want to negotiate, IF Orco shoot them first without asking questions first, IF they shot wrong barrel, IF Orco didn't drink that booze, IF he or Nero (who he certainly had to tell his plan before) revealed his name to someone else. IF, IF, IF...

Seriously, those people wouldn't became big bosses if they just trusted everyone who they saw for the first time. They should be a lot more suspectful towards strangers. And they also should have some sense of honor too - noone would cooperate with someone who just betrayed and shot their family - noone want the traitor. There were at least three moments where Avilio would get shot if he didn't have plot armour.

Ah yes, but then again, this may just be showing us how well Angelo plans out his moves. Seeing things go wrong or watching him ad-lib is my favourite.

Uhm , one thought circling in my head. If Nero was faking death all the time he must have heard how Don Orco praises Angelo about avenging his father.

Or was it the part of this plan ?

Remember that Nero described to him his first job. Nero could presume that he (Angelo) made up some details for the sake of the plan. But even so, chances of someone paying attention at words under a situation like this are low.

Wasn't Angelo a bit careless when he let Orco say in front of Nero "he avenged his father's death" ? seems like a big clue to me (not that nero is suspecting him, but he probably will later on).
I think the fourth person is Frate (he was probably really young, like 12-13)
and the lasagna scene was obvious lol.

Nero had already told him the story so in Nero's mind Angelo just used the details from that.
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

Yuck...I'm not going to be eating lasagna for a while...

They really threw me for a loop when Angelo shot Nero. At first I thought it was a really awesome twist that he would take this opportunity and work with Orco later, but nevertheless it was an even bigger twist that Nero was faking being dead.

I have one problem with that though. Isn't the "story" Angelo cooked too suspicious. I mean, Nero suspected him before for killing Vanno, so shouldn't his suspicions get even bigger now after hearing that "story". I mean - Nero recently remembered about killing the Lagusa family and the boy that ran away, so it wouldn't be entirely implausible for Angelo to be that boy. I think Angelo took a huge risk here and it broke my suspension of disbelief a bit.

Second problem I had - how did Fango take over the Orco family so quickly. I mean, capturing Orco himself is all well and good, but the family is not supposed to crumble without him. Even if it seems he had no successors I would assume his second in command would take control and Fango would still be outnumbered. Maybe they were taken by surprise and there was a fight off screen, but it still felt pretty weird that Fango just waltzed in wearing the chef getup.

Finally, why did Fango let Nero and co. go? After they delivered Orco to him, it seems like they lost their leverage over him, so why did he let them go? Did they promise to bring him the booze as well? Or does Fango find them entertaining and doesn't want to kill them now. In either case, it seems a bit suspicious, since he seems like a smart guy to leave such obviously troublesome people around. Or maybe he wants to use them against the Vanettis now...who knows.

In any case, great episode, can't wait for next one.

And I just ate pasta right before this episode...maybe I should...just check...just in case....maybe not...

The dynamic between Nero being a target of revenge and an indispensable comrade is making it all the harder to decide which route I want to see pan out. Watching Angelo calculate his revenge is incredible, but Nero's really grown on me. He seems like one of the only sensible fellas in this circle of mafioso.

That was really a good plan of Avilio. Although it was sad seeing all those barrels of booze getting wasted. I was waiting for the poisoned booze and it did happened. Thought the Avilio really avenged Nero, but it was all an act, but I felt that something was wrong as he let him die easily unlike Vanno. Looks like Chef Fango have overtaken the Orco family and his restaurant, so called Ottimo Fango. I knew the lasagna itself was Orco since he's such a sadist or somehow a psychopath. Had to repeat that scene again. Pretty much Fango have entertained me in this anime. His chef outfit suits him well and his sarcastic voice.

Also, that ending was so messed up when Fango gave those guys the lasagna! o:
