...Alright, how the hell did Rasara die?!? I rewatched that part twice and it clearly did not look like she got hit by any rocks, or whatever. It's just llike ... she died.

Haha, the falling debris didnt even touch her! I mean if you squinted you could imagine the edge of the falling debris decapitated her, but it obviously didnt.

This Hong Kong arc has been lame, doubly so for including Moon Moon back in the mix. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam had a much better Hong Kong arc. Plus it was actually in Hong Kong too!

Yeah, I don't know why they threw in this utterly stupid Stampa bullshit. Definitely the worst two episodes next to the Moon-Moon stuff ... especially since it's in between the two best arcs of the whole show (in my opinion), it just felt pointlessly thrown in for no reason and the "back to comedy" thing kind of ruined the moment the show was building up too.

Rasara's death was so unticlimatic and unnecessary and how the hell did she die anyway??!!
This Hong Kong arc was among the worst episodes so far. I hope something great for the ending, but if it isn't....

Oh wow that was terrible. Rasara died from a dust cloud? Haman finally got back on her ship after that weird espionage shit, but who knows what she was trying to do.

I hope the ending is good, but I'm really doubting it. Leina still have to have a cheesy reunion and Haman has to die because she is "a tragic figure," as so necessarily put by Sarara.

Yeah this episode was pretty bad. Oh well, soon this is over.

I doubt this last arc can top the colony drop arc anymore, it was actually pretty good, and on the level of the earlier Gundams imo.

Still, Gundam is one of those shows that is never boring to me. Even if it's bad, I can laugh at how bad it is.

It had Potentially to become dark and depressing episode, but it's a shame it felt half ass.

What was Haman doing here in the first place? Only to scout the colony or what?!

Yeah it would have been more tragic if both Mondo and Rasara we're killed. They could have at least put one mini rock that hit her head does Rasara dying.

Tbh it kinda ruined the emotional scene because the music was suddenly changed to junker theme which kinda killed it.

I do love the music from Zeta being integrated like Char's theme when infiltrating a base :)

Good job for Mondo for avenging Rasara's death. Though it was his fault that they Sarasa escaped Nahel Argama and tried to meet with Haman, which they still haven't explained why she wanted. All i know is Sarasa wanted to heal Haman with all this Hikari thing :P

I guess Rasara is really dead. For shame really, this could have been avoided if Mondo didn't allow them to get off the Nahel Argama.

Oh well, it was a okay episode, i would have like if Stampa didn't exist and just went to Side 3.

Last 6 episodes left. Can't wait!

Also don't know how Rasara died unless she had a heart attack or something. They didn't check her pulse or breathing either, so idk how they realized she was dead either. Except Leina's "death", it feels like the deaths so far have been anti-climactic and unecessary tbh. Hopefully the finale won't also feel like that since most Gundam series tend to have endings with a handful of characters dying, and having those fall short would really not help ZZ's already negative reputation since endings can make or break shows for some people.
And am I the only one still confused as to how and when the Mk II got fixed? It got pretty damaged when Puru used it back on Earth, but it magically got fully repaired around the time she died. I'm still curious as to why Elle, Beecha, Mondo, and Iino have the regular plain normal suits when Roux and Judua have custom ones. Sure it's probably because they're the best pilots of the group, but considering how much pink Elle wears, I feel like had she gotten the chance, she would've opted for a pink normal suit. Seeing what the colors the boys would've chosen for their normal sutis would've been interesting too. Still waiting for figure out why Haman's such a fan favorite villain too since she hasn't done anything too interesting so far imo I'm also confused as to why the bridge has so few people. The bridge in 0079 had quite a few additional minor characters there that kept an eye on everything, meanwhile we somehow only have Kiethron and Torres there all the time. How they can navigate, steer the ship, manage communications, watch the radar, and control other features is beyond me. Iino and Mondo seem to occasionally help them out, but they leave to go pilot sometimes so just.... how do they do it? We know the Argama had additional staff, but it seems like it's mainly just the kids (Astonaige's with them, but he's probably only in his mid 20s - early 30s right?) on the Nahel Argama so I also have no idea how they're able to keep the ship maintained

Great to see an end to this little story. A very pathetic end. The girl magically died, everyone seems to tolerate it a lot less than what happened to Ple (yes, I'm still not done with this).
I think I understand this was done to allow more Judau / Haaman interactions before the final showdown (or will it be Glemy??) and to humanize her (like several other little scenes in ZZ) while exploiting one / the longest of the short stories from the first half but they used a terrible setting for it, a bad excuse and I still can't make sense in-story of Haman's choice to infiltrate herself the Nahl Argama (especially since she didn't talk to Judau when she had the occasion inside) when it was a dangerous situation for her (she wasn't aware that the ship had almost no adult)
Also, I didn't like how they hammer Haman's traits in our head through the priestess. Again, I don't think the audience is/was stupid enough to not understand what was already conveyed through the story/actions/etc. If they really wanted to expand her character, she should have been featured more prominently as soon as the Mashymre fantasies were'nt on screen anymore.

2.5/5 only because they tried to develop Haman a bit. But it was a succession of laborious episodes very badly build, we're back to a Zeta problem.

I hope the end won't start at the 46th episode.

this arc is all kinds of bad, but let's not pretend that Zeta's version of Hong Kong was much better

Good point. One of the things I was also wondering was how they found a replacement for Zeta's head so quickly. I mean, only a couple episodes after the ZetaZaku's reveal, the Zeta was back with its normal head again: it happened many episodes ago, but it still bugs me even now.

This was bad. Really, really bad. Sarasa or Rasara (fuck I can't even keep them straight) died from nothing. And Mondo is in deep despair over her even though they had barely a single scene alone together.

And nobody mentioned it, but didn't Stampa fall into the river with his mech? So then how did he make it to his palace all clean and dry and ready before Judau got there?

I really hope this series gets better from here... To be honest these past few episodes have been worse than the start of the series (which I had actually enjoyed).

Just discovered this thread after watching this episode and having the same reaction as everyone else. I made a post on r/Gundam to vent/laugh and then found this and had to make an account. I'm glad this thread has been kept alive for a few years! Such an insanely stupid episode.
I do think it is hilarious on top of everything else that the entire crew of the Nahel Argama is in mourning Rasara who they met twice, but SO MANY important characters have died / been killed and they never even gave a shit or showed any emotion.

Just flummoxed by this God awful episode. Were back to campy, dumb goofy shit. Yes, just like everybody else, how did Rasara die? I'm assuming it is from a cloud of smoke, or died from natural causes.. I just typed that. And you know an episode is bad when @SomaHeir of all people knocks this episode :).

Also the cross-dressing scenes were not any good and this Stampa moron is that.. a moron. How he maintained a colony without it being overthrown within seconds is beyond me.

I wish we had more information on what happened with this show behind the scenes. I read Tomino was going through a depression and it seems like maybe the staff was annoyed with him, or they were trying to prove a point about something, or.. I don't know. Just a really weird transition to going back to the goofy stuff. 6 more episodes to go.

Rasara is dead. I'm trying to come up with how she actually died, and my only guess is that she drained her spiritual power which she used to cause Stampa's mobile suit to tip over. If that's the case, then she must also have been a newtype. Just a thought.

What the fuck? Rasaras death was stupid. No rock hit her? What killed her? A dust cloud? I rewatched it and I can't see any way she could of died. This was a dull filler Arc. The argama came to Tigerbaum colony for what? Why was Haman ever there? Nothing is explained. All this episode had going for it was Mondo avenged Rasara and the visuals were pretty. Other than that, this arc was a big letdown as compared to the excellent Colony drop arc. This better end on a good note. 2/5

It's probably bad but I laughed when Rasara "tragically died" because she didn't receive any injury whatsoever, she just covered Mondo with her body and the mobile suit stopped (and also a stone fell NEXT TO her, not ON her). Yet she magically got a lot of bruises and died. Lol. That was the most hilarious and forced death so far.

The best part of the episode is Haman sliding down the hill in her dress and Elle going around with a bazooka.

But damn, they spent much more time mourning Rasara's ridiculous death than Ple's! What the hell, it's like a spit in my face. As a remedy I will be spending my time browsing through Ple's official illustrations and fanart after I finish ZZ.

also with that said im glad this little arc with the fat guy is over its even annoying that ti took as many eps as it did just to finally kill him (yes 2 eps was way to long imo)

but thank god he died and in the best way but even still makes no sense how the girl died though

and again with that said next ep looks to be great its back to where things need to be only a few more eps left

I see a lot of people hated this episode and I can see why. This mini arc has taken an unfortunate turn in the series, but I felt like with this one we were at least getting closer to the more serious stuff again.

I really enjoyed seeing Mondo prove himself and even become sort of cool. Him and Beecha sort of shone, as well as Elle with that rocket launcher shot. Only six more episodes to go, and I really hope we see some intense battles and satisfying conclusions.

I was also super confused on how Rasara died, I had assumed it was from a piece of rubble hitting her, but you don't actually SEE it happen, no matter how hard you squint. So it comes off as very strange and silly looking instead.

Glad that stupid pedo-harem guy was murdered, but it was stupid and pointless for him to be introduced in the first place, and so late in the series.

I thought the show was getting better in the 2nd half, but this was the worst episode of Gundam ZZ so far.
Quite confusing, with characters and Gundams coming and going randomly, and a girl dying somehow without me realizing... Well at some point I understood that she was dead, but I still don't understand how.

/edit I just got an idea. Maybe shielding the Argama's crew from Haman's evil spirit during the voyage had depleted her life force, and the adrenaline shock during the battle at the canal was the death blow...

Rasara's death being completely out of the blue seems to be a Tomino tradition. It reminded me of Icelina in 0079 and Theo Fairchild in F91, where they die for seemingly no reason other than Tomino got bored and added them in for shock value.

Genuine question: why did everyone have a more strong reaction to Rasara's entirely random death than to that of Ple a few episodes back, or even Leina for everyone besides Judau himself? They didn't exactly know her very well at all, and it just feels like the show is trying to gaslight me into thinking that Moon Moon actually mattered and was anything other than the two worst full-length episodes of all the Gundam anime I have seen so far.

I liked this episode because the Zeta death-jingle is back! :D
In the previous deaths it wasn't present, right?

Someone said Rasara died because he used her energy to stop Stampa, but I thought it was Stampa that didn't want to kill her because she was harem material. Her energy being drained somehow because she was protecting the heroes during the arc, albeit possible, doesn't sound too convincing in this situation...

Yes this arc was pretty random and confusional, but I liked some elements, like at least there was some character development for Mondo (like Beecha kind of had earlier), and those kids of the colony seemed like what Judau's group used to be at Shangri-la

But Yeah, it was still pretty bad. I agree the music used right after Rasara's death was a goofy one (like, what?), and they definitely mourned much more about her than Puru/Ple, there was a general salute to Hayato's crew, but not a single character mentioned Puru once, even though she actually saved the Argama, wtf?

And the random humour:

"Let's just use brains and body!"
"Judau, shouldn't we use our brain and body?"
"Use your head, Judau!"

I can't take this shit seriously, but at least it's funny

For some reason Elle reminds me of Kaori Makimura, only Elle is actually cute. If I were in Judau's shoes I would bang her quickly before other random deaths happen, lol

Yep, it was addressed earlier in the episode. You didn't notice that? Or maybe you got the bad subs, which explains the confusion regarding her death later. Regardless of that, they should've done a better job at establishing what Newtypes are capable of doing. Apparently, they can make protective barriers too.
