Lol, the panda-kun is awesome:

It's interesting to see that blue alien use her abilities though on the crowd. Decent action in the second half. Almost felt kinda bad for Gel involved tbh. At least no one got seriously hurt after the shit that went down this episode.

So I was correct about Tsubasa. "Insight" indeed. Going to be good, but I am now curious if this is going to have two arcs instead of one. Probably one, but this could also easily be a six episode arc. Probably the former, so I will be curious to see the twists they will need to do to take it to the end.

Oh, what I was correct about was that the 3 differences with her "ascension" all had meaning last episode. Also get what is really bothering the great grandfather.

For some reason I'm not enjoying this as much as the first season. Cannot really put a finger on why. Maybe I'm missing more of the rest of the old Gatcha team. Don't like the new characters as much.

Same. It's such a pity, since I really liked the first season.
I'm not really feeling the new characters. I get that we're only 2 episodes in, so there's more focus on the new ones to introduce them properly, but I'd have liked to see more of the others. And there are only 12 episodes too...

Poor Rui though.

It kind of defeats the purpose when the villain is infinitely more likeable and realistic than the heroes, even though it's obviously intentional in this case. Anime didn't need another 'fundamentally wrong utopia' narrative.

Everyone thought the same way about Hajime after 2 episodes last series, people tend to forget that because by the end of the series she was great.

Tsubasa is similar. People who can't see her potential just aren't thinking about it enough.

Gelsadra's motive to unite everyone is a bit creepy honestly and I'll be really surprised if she doesn't end up as the main villain or play a bigger role in the series at the end of the day. The episode itself was a bit sloppy, but it was alright. The conflict between Crowds and VAPE is a little boring, but I can see why it's needed, I just hope that it doesn't drag on for too long, although I'm not feeling this new antagonist at all. How the relationship between Hajime and Tsubasa develops is going to be the one to watch I think. It's a shame that rest of the Gatchaman get so little screen time and I kind of agree with the others in that the second season isn't quite as enjoyable as the first, but there's lots of potential here, so I'm not really too worried.

I'm also hoping that Katze doesn't remain as a comic relief character for too long as he is far too entertaining to just remain on the sidelines for the whole series. No signs of Hajime cracking yet under Katze's temptations, but I still expect her to become more of a character this season rather than a idea.

I hope the villain grows darker. He's too much of a generic "we need to stop evolution" character
Let’s say you drink too much strawberry milk, and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. You don’t want to get up, but the urge to urinate is just too strong! You run to the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, and let loose! You think that all your life has led to this moment! YOU'RE STILL IN BED! That feeling of lukewarm wetness spreads! But you can’t stop! THAT’S THE TRUTH OF THE STRAWBERRY MILK! DO YOU GET IT? ~ Gintoki

No, he's one of those "everyone else are idiots and I know best, so they should do what I say" types. The question of course is, how did he get his NOTE extracted, so I don't think he will become much darker, but rather the main villain will be the person behind him (as Katze was behind Rui).

As for Gel, I think the Japanese expression (explained last episode) "kuuki o yomu" (lit. read the air) is what she does, though she literally eats the air in order to understand it. This episode she noticed that Tsubasa and the crowd were getting annoyed about how Tsubasa could not transform, so she "read the air" and came up with an explanation that satisfied everyone. She can soothe situations, which if people are willing to be soothed, can lead to world peace. In some ways she is like Hajime at the beginning of last year, getting Sugane to calm down by showing he doesn't always have to think the worst of people.

But people who do not, who think their answer is the only answer, her power cannot work on. In the end one violent person can destroy all the goodwill she creates.

Still, Hajime ultimately is where this show needs to go. I am curious about what will cause her to lose it.

Tsubasa, under the training of Hajime, is still trying to adjust after becoming a Gatchaman. Felt like an episode of speculation before the real action comes in. Still not used to the new characters.

Tsubasa doesn't realize that her "Bird, Go!" is a different stance, both her arms are suppose to be down and head forward like when she was angry. So unless she can learn how to use the other pose she need to remember that one.

For me, first season was simply more exciting because I was introduced to a unique setting and the whole idea of heroes behind gatchamen. I also liked sugane, but it doesn't seem like he'll be getting much screentime this season ._. at least I'll get a fair share of seeing rui.

I'm not really seeing tsubasa as a good main character yet. I still can't seem to remove myself from thinking about how similar she is to hajime (aside from the lack of ability to transform lol). and so I'm kinda wishing they picked a different type of personality for the new mc.

This was a great episode. It focused a lot on Tsubasa and her trying to figure how to transform. They keep emphasising 'flight' or 'wings' so maybe the way she transforms has to represent flight. Meanwhile, we saw the leader of VAPE show up at Rui's place. Red vs Blue crowds = a civil war. This is looking to be very exciting. Gelsadra's ability seems like she can absorb everyone's emotions so that she can understand humans better. Katze gets shut down by Hajime so easily; god I love Hajime. xD Also, the OP and ED are still so freaking good.

Tsubasa is going to take some time to get used in my opinion. As interesting of a character can be at times, I don't see much to be desired of her as of yet. I am, however, interested in how she can't transform into the Gatchaman, but I guess she does it due to anger. I also would love to see the rest of the Gatchaman, since I feel like they are being pushed aside a bit.

Rui's enemy is also interesting, but at the same time, generic in a way. I see him as the kind of character that's all like, "humanity must be stopped because they're imperfect", and I hope in the near future that he'll develop as a darker villan with better values.

All in all, still the same beloved series that I know and it's good to have the whole gang back. OP is badass. The ED is going to take some time to get used too, though.

Overall the episode was decent, since it's moving the story along. I do share some of the concerns about the new characters.

Tsubasa is as already stated, pretty close to Hajime in character (although nowhere near as happy-go-lucky), but we can already see how her character can diverge and become something of her own. Main issue I have with her is that her behaviour towards and around Gel is kinda, well, creepy. Think about it, it's an alien, who she barely knows, and she's super clingy to Gel. Also, her comment on Gel saying something about world peace: "That's so impressive!" was profoundly stupid.

Speaking of Gel. I can get that she's an alien and thus comes from a completely different mindset and culture. But, even so, just blatantly forcing everyones feelings to be on display is a kinda big invasion of privacy.

I also think there's some underlying plot behind Gel. She seems a bit too concerned about the state of a planet she, as far as we know, has never been to prior.

When there's action it's good and the opposition can be promising. A bit boring to have evil Crowds yet again (but hey, it's in the title, after all) but the pretentious douche (srsly) having a Note does give hope for some neat Gatcha vs Gatcha fight scenes. No complaints about Hajime's boobs here.

More small foreshadowing about Hajime's development again and I'm excited for them to go into her. I wonder if Katze will have a plot or at least involvement role.

I don't particularly like the villain and his whole lame repeating "apes" thing, but I like what he brings about and the atmosphere he creates. Whenever new technology arises it is without doubt people will use it for dark purposes and no matter how much you try to unite people their will be division, in fact some might cause trouble just so there is no unity in the first place as rebels. I rather focus on what his actions cause and represent rather than the character himself.

I agree, the use of the word "apes" was somewhat of a facepalm moment. It worked in Tengen Toppa because the enemies arguably weren't apes. Here it just feels dumb since for all we know the guy is a human.

This was brought up and explained in the thread for the first episode. In the directors cut of S1 Hajime fused with Katze and gained his Note in addition to her own.

Edit: Though she actually holding it together with her own like that does raise questions. Since it's inside her.
